Hilos (Vertical Anamorphic does 1:1 ratio)
Sebastien Farges replied to Sebastien Farges's topic in Cameras
Yes, no CC at all ! The light was beautifull this day, and the vertical compression delight it. It was shot in November, end of afternoon, face to the new bridge in Bordeaux, french west coast.- 4 replies

Doing this transform my 16/9 GH1 takes in 1:1 video. This could be interesting for example if you want to do false 4/3 archives with a contemporary 16/9 cam, without cropping what you are filming. Here is my first hands on of the SLR Magic 25mm T0.95 I've done yesterday ! Thanks
<a href="http://vimeo.com/60971533" GH3 AVCHD 1080P 50 SLR Magic 25mm between T0.95 and T2.8 Light Craft ND variable filter Natural mode No color correction I've just received from SLR Magic their new 25mm T0.95 lens, the production copy. It has been improved with sharpness and purple fringing from EOSHD and 3D-Kraft Pre production lens. The result is astonishing to my opinion, very sharp image at full aperture. Here is a non scientific quick test in a "documentary" situation (my daughter in a pony competition :) ). I'm really happy for the result, and the light was particularly cool this sunday morning. The lens will be available soon, for 799$

Iscorama VS Iscomorphot 8 2x VS Iscomorphot 8 1.5x
Sebastien Farges replied to QuickHitRecord's topic in Cameras
Thank you :) I did a quick test with it this afternoon, but I have to bring it to a photograph repairer for the focus ring. At first glance this lens is less sharp than my baby Hypergonar, I have to put the prime lens at least on f/5.6, even for wide shot, when with the Hypergonar I can do wide shot at fast aperture (on the Iscomorphot 1.5 fast shot gives blurry / unsharp and color aberration. f/5.6 begin to be better, and especially with the Tokina diopter.- 28 replies

As far as I know you don't have to focus with Hypergonar, because it's an hyperfocal lens.

My question is : with that kind of result, do I need a GH3 and mainly an Iscorama 36 ? I'm not so sure now for the Isco ;) Could it be better with the 0.4 achromatic diopter ? Please tell me your opinion :) https://vimeo.com/59844561 GH1 hacked 720P 50 baby Berthiot Hypergonar anamorphic lens 1.75X Planar 45mm f/2 Hartbley Super-Rotator tilt and shift 80mm f/2.8 lens Tokina 0.5 diopter Light Craft variable ND filter Premiere pro CS6 light CC (levels) Maybe the ultimate combo for the baby Hypergonar anamorphic lens : the Planar 45mm f/2. As least for me. I've found for a reasonable price this Planar lens that I used to have few years ago on my Contax G1 rangefinder. I had great memories on that lens and sold it a few years ago for money reasons. Here it backs, for 200€. Popular Photography magazine said in 1994 that it is the sharpest lens ever made. Effectively this lens is very sharp, also at f/2. So I decide to test it with my (new, again) baby Berthiot Hypergonar 1.75X anamorphic lens, a very small and light (51,7 grams !!!!). For the close up I used my new Tokina 0.5 diopter. I just watched the export of this movie on my TV and I'm very pleased of the result, no vignetting, no distortion, and very sharp result to my opinion, with the Tokina in the close shot, and without in the wide shot. The very firsts shots (with the blurry corners) have been taken with a tilt and shift lens, the Hartblei Super-Rotator 80mm f/2.8 (Nikon mount). It is miraculously working with the baby Hypergonar, small vignetting when the lens is tilting, because it's a 80mm... It's hard to use because it was for me the very first time shooting with a tilt and shift lens. I surely have to practice, that's why I edited just few shots. All this was shot with my old hacked GH1 in 720P. I've received few days ago the new GH3. I will do test with this combo soon. But the GH1 is still in the race ! music : Masked Ball (Jocelyn Pook) from Eye's Wide Shut soundtrack.

You know since I'm filming with the GH series, I went through different phases, beginning with fast lenses in the C-mount vignetting area @ their soft fastest aperture, then the Voigtlanders, and I discover what closing necessary apertures on anamorphic gives for difference (for ex is "A man with anamorphic eyes"... The baby hypergonar is maybe a little less sharp than the Iscorama at fast apertures, but good diopter like my Tokina 0.5 and maybe one day the 0.4 give him beautiful result. I have a friend of mine who has the same ex anamorphic combo like mine, but with the non mc Voigt 40mm version. Badfully he doesn't put yet example on his vimeo's. I'll let you know thru my upcoming work what I think about the Planar. I bought it because few years ago I use to have it on a Contax G1, but I had sell it for money reason. Now he's back and I'm happy about it :)

You maybe know I have sold my baby Hypergonar in a combo with Voigtlander 40mm... Now I have a new anamorphic set I have to introduce to you : Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f/2 (some people say the best 35mm lens ever made) + my new baby Hypergonar (sorry guys, I swear I don't have an "baby Hypergonar tree") + Tokina 0.5 diopter I've shot some clip today and the result are really promising ! Movie soon, stay tune :) and the cherry on the cake... A friend of mine loan me a 80mm f2.8 Hartbley Super Rotator Tilt Shift lens... I try quickly the baby hypergonar on it and it seems to work, without vignetting in the TS operations ! I will do some video tomorrow :) Hartbley Super Rotator Tilt Shift lens 80mm f2.8 (left) + Contax G Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f2 with baby Hypergonar Berthiot + Tokina 0.5 diopter anamorphic lens 1.75X (right) Hartbley Super Rotator Tilt Shift lens 80mm f2.8 with baby Hypergonar Berthiot anamorphic lens 1.75X + Tokina 0.5 diopter anamorphic (left) + Contax G Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f2 (right) Hartbley Super Rotator Tilt Shift lens 80mm f2.8 with baby Hypergonar Berthiot anamorphic lens 1.75X + Tokina 0.5 diopter anamorphic (left) + Contax G Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f2 (right) Hartbley Super Rotator Tilt Shift lens 80mm f2.8 with baby Hypergonar Berthiot anamorphic lens 1.75X + Tokina 0.5 diopter anamorphic (left) + Contax G Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f2 (right) Contax G Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f2 with baby Hypergonar Berthiot + Tokina 0.5 diopter anamorphic lens 1.75X

I've sold baby isco anamorphot (not the same than the "iscomorphot" version, which is better) few month ago, to my opinion the baby Hypergonar is better. Here is a test between those two babies lenses : https://vimeo.com/41352674

Oups I'm sorry I bought the last clamp, apparently.... The smallest step up and/or step down ring I've found once for a isco gottingen was 52mm-30.5mm / 30.5mm-52mm http://www.flickr.com/photos/43243778@N04/8368259437/in/photostream

Julian, you are a lucky man, again congratulation :) but there is always a but ;) 1- This is not "really" a lens from Henri Chrétien (well I suppose). The baby Hypergonar does. 2- I'm not sure step down ring is a good solution... Do not forget you have to align the lens... For very small lens like yours you can ask "Tony"'s clamp Or take this (it's what I'm using for my "new again" baby hypergonar (with adding spacers)) : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390530294232&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Why you don't ship to France ? lol :)

No, sorry I don't know, even if I'm looking thru all these kind of lenses :) "Tony Wilson" must be right, maybe Yashica.
