Standing out of the sunroof of our car and telling my wife to drive slower lol. Next time I would open the hatchback and sit in the trunk area though.

You did a great job getting that lens to focus during a job. I find it to be quite challenging but you did a great job.. looks excellent.

thats not too bad....hmmmmm I think Im going to do it sometime this year. If tony reads this again how are you liking your iscorama cine mod?
-
How much does it cost to rehouse these as cine lenses with gears and better smoother focus? If its a lot it's just something I'd rather save up for then buying lomo square fronts.

Price range: Hawk 2x Anamorphics B-Series.
Rob Bannister replied to Tito Ferradans's topic in Cameras
yeah Hawks are unobtanium for sure. I got into a talk with a director recently on set about anamorphics. Both shared our love for them and he even said he would shoot just on anamorphics if he could budget them for his movies. They are really really expensive lenses and I doubt I will ever get to use a hawk never mind owning one lol. -
The one in question on top of the pouch has 3 lenses as well all not named

OK so I looked again and I guess the 3rd set of diopters are some other brand. Not sure why I thought they were hoya as well but they are thinner. If anyone know what they are let me know..I'll post some pics here.

NICE!! Im looking for something like that to do custom scaling and peaking. I was looking at evfs or possibly a monitor but not looking to spend $1000...$500 just seems easier to swallow.
-
When I bought the iscorama it came with the tokina +0.4 diopter and 2 sets of hoya diopters +1, +2, and +4. Im still testing them to figure out the best situations to use them in. I'll take some pics of them and post. Im not sure what the difference is between the 2 sets of hoyas. 1 set is a lot thicker.

Thanks Im glad you like the vintage one I did. The first one I agree looks like polished reflective cg but I also thing it brings out this kind of porcelain look to the selector arm in the jukebox.
-
Thanks that mean a lot, Im new but I really want to shoot a feature anamorphic so its my way to test out and learn how to frame in 2.35 2.66 Im already fining I need to get an evf with anamorphic desqueeze so Im looking into that. Should search this forum. I didnt post it but here is the last version. Its a little more lifted / faded with some film grain and blooming. http://vimeo.com/64469791

Haha thanks Tony, wouldnt that be something. I love this lens but im also excited to see if I can utilize a 2X stretch as well. These anamorphics really make up for the line skipping on these dslrs. Also cant wait to put it on a BMCC

Here are 2 contact sheets so you can see how the files came out of the d800 if anyone was interested.
-
oh and to answer your possible question the Select-o-matic is a jukebox that allows you to make up to 100 selections! haha love the sound that comes out of the old speaker. You can see it better on the wide shot to the left.

Thanks for the kind words. The first one is done with a LUT and some CC in speed grade the second one is done in nuke using a Straw filter. When they use filters on set we get them to shout a Macbeth chart and I can neutralize the plates for CG and comp work then we reverse it to apply it back at the end and no one is the wiser. SO Ive combined all of these into a node that you can apply or remove. Works out quite well. I wish my eye didnt always go for warm corrections its something i have to work on.

Shot some small tests with the Iscorama on my d800 last week. Shot on D800 with the nikon 50mm 1.4D and Tokina +0.4 diopter and Hoya +1 diopter. I did the edit in premiere, grading in speed grade and second grade in nuke using some custom grading filters I made using filters from on set. My site www.robbannister.com Downloads page http://www.robbannister.com/downloads/ videos CC1 http://vimeo.com/64450588 CC2 http://vimeo.com/64464863 Hopefully I'll have some stuff really worth showing soon. Redstan lensclamps for Kowa Prominar Anamorphic 16-H
Rob Bannister replied to bootsie's topic in Cameras
really?, I got a response within 24 hours. got them yesterday. one thing i'll recommend is gettig the stepup or step down rings you need right away so that unlike me, when they come in you wont have your anamorphic and your clamps but still not able to use them lol. Its killing me not being able to play this weekend. You do want to contact him to make sure you get the appropriate clamps, im just not sure why its been so hard for you...- 8 replies

Awesome, I called them and Berry should be in touch. I was mainly wondering if everyone of these comes with this tighter focus. Its tight but also feels dampened.
-
ok so I dont plan to take this apart myself to try and loosen it up but I was wondering if anyone knew anybody close to vancouver canada who is qualified. I dont need to take it down to vancam or somewhere who will tell me they can and mess up this beauty. Also do most of these have pretty tight focus. It doesnt seem wrong but its just to tight to pull focus during a shot. I love the long focus throw but its hard to go from one extreme to the other. Also I think its too tight for a follow focus.
