Try adding grain. It can get rid of most of the banding....

No offence Bob, but the subject is a tree. I think most people have been complaining about skin tones?

Ya it's a pretty cool feature. I only use two primes so it's really handy (28mm and 50mm). I only wish that you could assign 1.3X zoom to a button to punch in and out. I have found beyond 1.3 there is a loss of quality.

Hi Ed, I really enjoyed your film. I love the voice over and the feel of the video. It kept me glued the whole time. If I may say one thing. Just my opinion, but I would have loved to have had more anonymity of which city you were talking about. Every time you said nyc it made me come out of the story a little bit. Other than that, I loved it!

Ahh is that so? So when I set to 100+ everything that is zebra is clipped?

The a7s goes to 108 IRE or something like that. If you have zebras at 100+ it doesn't always mean that it is clipping yet.

I really like the Canon Fds. Cheap and good glass.

Thanks for the insight. Mostly I would be looking for more views as it generally brings more work to me. But I am thinking I am going to steer clear of this one. I don't think it will bring much but maybe promotional views for their company.

Ya, that's what I read into it as well... This is what they responded with: Essentially, what that means is that we can promote your film (in association with you as the filmmaker) on either our main platform or any of our subdomains. You will not be giving up the right to the film. By "exploit", we mean that we (Clapway as a company) can use your film for promotional purposes and distribution to the public. This sounds fair, but the terms read a bit differently to me.

Does anyone have any experience with Clapway? They wanted to show a piece of mine on their front page, which is fine, but they have this crazy terms of use: http://clapway.com/submission-form/ Specifically this section: "Each Artist uploading Video Content to the Service grants Company and its authorized sublicensees and distributors, if any, the worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, right and license to: (i) reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, create derivate works of, communicate to the public and otherwise exploit (collectively, “Exploit”) (1) the Artist’s Creative Work and perform the Service on the Artist’s behalf (e.g., reproduce, transcode, copy and store the Artist’s Creative Work on computer servers owned and/or operated by or on behalf of Company or its authorized sublicensees and distributors, and publicly perform, transmit, stream, distribute, and playback the Artist’s Music) using any technologies or methodologies now known or hereafter developed, and (2) Exploit all associated copyrightable works or metadata, including, without ..." Just picked up a Canon FD 28mm f2. That replaces that crappy Vivitar! Now I can actually shoot at f2

Thanks everyone. I layered grain over everything up until the fireworks. Everything after that is a7s grain. The sound is layered on clip by clip. I use sounds from freesound.org as well as I record my own. The sound usually takes longer than the edit and grade. I am getting pretty fast at those, but sound takes time. I am not sure if I can recommend a tutorial. I would say go and watch Matty Brown's videos and listen to what he does. He is brilliant!

Honestly, just point your camera up and you have a shot in Cuba. So picturesque. You are so close!

Thanks, I am pretty sure you will love it. We have been to SA as well Cuba just as amazing and maybe a little better. It's hard to beat Bolivia though ​ ​Thanks Zach, I am Canadian so we just flew from our home town. I believe that Americans (if that is where you are?) can fly to Mexico or Jamaica and then take another flight to Cuba. It's a bit more effort, but well worth the travel. It is like stepping back in time. Sadly I am pretty sure things will be changing very quickly over there.

Hey guys, I am looking for suggestions for a lens. I am looking for the most compact 28mm (ish) f2.8 or faster lens for the A7s. I am looking mostly for size with the adapter and quality. Any recommendations? I am currently using a pentax mount vivitar F2, but I shoot mostly at f4 as it is soft otherwise. It would be great to find something of better quality and smaller if possible...? Thanks in advance

I think I remember reading that it is 4:2:2, but only contains information for 4:2:0.

Umm, that's slog, probably sgamut. You have to do a colour conversion first!

I have been shooting in cine4, pro colour mode at a higher saturation and my skin tones have started to come out well now. It's really just a matter of getting the white balance right I think. The 5d raw stuff that has been posted is hit and miss. I think we all have a different idea of what a "good" skin tone is. Some of the stuff posted looks off to me...
