  1. Do it, I would LOVE to see it fuzzynormal!
  2. Thanks Zach. I am pretty happy about it!
  3. Haha, thanks. I did that with a Canon 5dmk2 Raw and the A7s in a lot of different modes. I can try to dig that up somewhere. Did you see the pics I posted on this page from the a7s? '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> What are your thoughts on it?
  4. Sure, I am shooting in Cuba in two weeks and will post some footage from that afterwards. Maybe I am wrong.. we will see :)
  5. I didn't think you were putting down the video. I understand what you are getting at. All I was saying is that people seem to be basing their opinions on tests where they authors probably didn't do the correct colour conversion before grading from slog (and therefore has a cast). I am not saying that the a7s is for you and maybe the colour science isn't to your taste. Maybe so... But.. I shot with Nikon for a while now and now an a7s. I am pretty sure I can get the same colours out of both of them.
  6. Thanks Pipkato Seriously, I think people are too worried about colour science in this or that camera. Everyone has been shooting and posting slog footage and most likely without the proper colour conversions done to them. That is misleading people into thinking that there is something wrong with the A7s colours. The D5200 is a great camera and has great colours, but a lot of what was in this video was pushed into the shots in post. Same goes with the A7s shots. Just thought that I would mention this because I think people are over obsessing about it. Just my opinion though :)
  7. Thanks Martin. A lot of it comes from foley sounds that i recorded on my own or from the original recorded sound, but I also used freesound.org as well as some other libraries from soundsnap etc... Most sounds can be found on freesound, but sometimes it's just easier to record it yourself. For example: the footstep sounds I recorded my hands in a bowl of uncooked rice. Haha...
  8. Ya, definitely an underrated camera. He didn't edit, but he totally helped me get out of a slump. You know when you have looked at your footage too long and you just can't get a sense of where you are at? That man has great ideas!
  9. Haha, well I was working with no sunlight so that's probably why the D5200 looks better. I'll be shooting a new one in Cuba in the next few weeks. We'll see how this cam holds up...
  10. No luts were applied... That's probably from some masking that I am doing. There is some conflicting colours in the window reflection. I'll fix that up too thanks!
  11. Better? My eyes are shot. Vectorscope always reads proper Yes it's a little bit scary ;)
  12. I shoot with the eye piece on the A7s and just use the neck strap with the D5200. The IS on the Tamron 17-50mm is really good and helps out a lot, but also just a matter of technique to get it stable. Keep the strap tight and move your body and not your arms. As for staying in focus. I just do what I can. I admit it's hard to focus in the sun, but that's why the a7s is so much easier since I can use the eye piece.
  13. Too green I take it? I'll have that fixed up in a jiffy!
  14. Thanks. I shot the D5200 with a Tamron 17-50 IS (super sharp lens) and the Sigma 30mm F1.4. The A7s shots were with a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 and a Vivitar 28mm F2
  15. Thanks. Most of it is D5200. Just the intro is shot with A7s... Is that Brandon stealing my footage again? Just kidding.. not it's all my shots. Just similar footage.
  16. Thanks. All of it except the timelapses.
  17. This is a new piece that I just uploaded shot in Indonesia and Dubai. The intro was shot with the a7s and the rest is Nikon D5200.
  18. I have to disagree strongly... Stop sharing? If you learned from the internet and now are at a place where you can contribute back then you should. I learned something a long time ago. If you are always worried about other people catching up to you then you aren't progressing enough.
  19. This is very interesting. Can't wait to see the results!
  20. I have been following this topic and I was wondering if somebody could help me out. I am editing mainly with Edius (which doesn't allow LUTs yet) and I would like to somehow convert sgamut to YUV colour space (which is what Edius works in). Is there a way to determine the values needed? Or can someone explain to me how I can figure this out. All of this conversion process is a little over my head...
  21. There is a solution posted here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?329145-a7s-movie-high-iso-problem "I can reproduce the issue on a color ramp chart and it appears to be a significant discontinuity that only exists in the blue channel a few stops before clipping, right before the point where the highlight primary color shifting issue takes place. It is different from the highlight primary color shifting issue* which I have seen in nearly all Sony cameras. The issue seems to occur in all picture profiles with all gamma curves and all color modes even including Black & White. It also occurs in PP OFF if creative style is set to Standard, Vivid, Neutral, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset, and Night Scene. The issue does NOT seem to occur in CLEAR, DEEP, LIGHT, BLACK & WHITE, SEPIA, and AUTUMN LEAVES. Alternatively, the issue seems most greatly affected by white balance, where in my tests the issue was greatest around 2500K and quickly diminished as WB was adjusted upwards and the issue seemed nearly imperceptible by around 4700K. Currently I'd say if you are in situation with strong blue lights and are experiencing the issue first try increasing your whitebalance or switch to PP OFF and a creative style of CLEAR, DEEP, LIGHT, BLACK & WHITE, SEPIA, or AUTUMN LEAVES. *I also see the normal primary color highlight issues that Sony cameras have where blue highlights go cyan and red highlights go yellow etc. Interesting that particular issue seems to be solved by using REC709(800%) gamma, though it seems to fix the issue simply by clipping off all the highlights where such lights would be an issue... Oddly the issue is fixed in my FS700 by using slog2, but while Slog2 and Sgamut seem to minimize the issue on the A7s, it still exists. Also I would caution against using Color Depth B+7 to fix the issue as it doesn't seem to remove the crazy blues, only to bring the entire blue channel up to the clipped blue saturation level that occurs in the issue. It will likely make your colors look ridiculous like anything blue is a bright flat blue cutout. In my test, Color Depth just shifted where the issue seemed to appear in the luma and WB range."
  22. Interesting, thanks for the information.
  23. Ok I have been testing a bunch more and Slog seems to work for skin tones, but I think sgamut may be the problem. I have to say though that I am not seeming to have many problems with skin tones in any of the modes. I am not sure why. Anyhow, I will be shooting a bunch tomorrow in slog2 and colour mode (yes I know how to spell colour): Cinema. I'll post my findings...
  24. Really... why not share? Otherwise it's just see what I can do advertising.
