  1. what about 7D + vaf filter? I'm thinking about it and I'm searching a used one. I also opened a topic in the "gear for sale" section. thx!
  2. Thanks Sinjun, I have a canon 7D with ML and I wish to try something different. Could you suggest me an alternative please? thx!
  3. I wish to know if does exist a camera that allow all those fetures please 1) 100% no moire and aliasing (that cyan and magenta false colors, wall bricks goes crazy) and (glitter effect arounf the fur of the animals, the telephone cables). 2) no vertical stripes. (example below) 3) acceptable low light ISO. 5) affordable price. 6) raw video thx!
  4. my camera have a mini hdmi port. I tryed it and it works. I can see the video signal on my 24inch PC monitor (using a mini-hmdi to hdmi cable). did you have used this feature for some work? I wish to know in which situation have been most useful. thx
  5. I will go out and shoot soon! Zach your words made some shine of sun to light my old gray cellar again! wow there is a lot of dust over here coff!! coff!! thanks
  6. I have a canon 7D and I wish to shoot video in RAW. I wish to find a solution to avoid aliasing. the main problem is that I have not a wide angle lens, so Is not always safe to shoot in crop mode (that is a nice solution as anti aliasing). It's several years now that I'm watching the prices of the 7D vaf filter and it's always very high. Does exist any new alternative please? thx
  7. thunderbolt 2 is enough? it's bi-directional transfer speeds up to 20Gbit/s
  8. I wish to work in 4K raw video 12/16bit 25p. if possible even 6K at the same bit depth and fps. someone suggested me to use RAID5 is it ok? the PC motherboard is an Asus X99-A/USB 3.1 2011-v3. I can choose between to connect the HDDs' inside the case or external with a thunderbid NAS, for thunderbid I need to buy this add-on for the motherboard: https://www.asus.com/Motherboard-Accessories/ThunderboltEX_II/ I do not know which brand/model of HDD I should look for, maybe western digital black? If you can give me any advice on which tool to buy I would be really grateful.
  9. guys which is it the max speed that you can reach with classic HDD (no SSD) in raid? thx
  10. how many hours of footage can I put into a 8TB HDD (mechanical, for example western digital black)? I wish to build a 8TB RAID 5 NAS. I opened my mind about this problem I can't go far with SSD storage. about the bandwith that takes 4K 24p is it 324MB/s? i saw this post ut it is 2006 http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?70671-4K-RAW-data-rates thx!
  11. il you are on mac try this to find out. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blackmagic-disk-speed-test/id425264550?mt=12 imho is the mechanical HDD the problem. example: another example. this is 2 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda's in Raid 0 http://www.tonymacx86.com/attachments/diskspeedtest-png.164483/ source http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/post-your-ssd-benchmarks-using-blackmagic-disk-speed-test.79217/page-24
  12. sorry guys another short question please, will 32GB of ram be enough for 4K raw video editing and color? thx again
  13. thx for your reply. Searching over internet I have not found the right answers. The only thing I have found is this video. So I noticed there is not the 4K test inside the parameters. do you believe it can playback at 4K 24p? thx a lot :P
  14. there are various brand and size of SSD and M.2 in the market. I have some budget problem and I need to stay on the low profile but I wish to be sure my new HDD will work for my purposes, if not I will make different choices. basically I have found those 2 models: SSD 500GB 850 EVO and the M.2 500GB 850EVO. I wish to buy one of them because price seems to be good for my pockets the problem is: will it worls with video editing and color in 4K raw video? I will use Premiere and Davinci Resolve. Are those SSD recommended? thx a lot for your help, tomorrow I will buy the new PC and I really need this info! :P
  15. do you see this kibd of flikering at this point of the video? it's over the frame of the table (if you press play you will redirected to that point in the timeline). how is this effect called? is it the youtube compression? or flikering/moirè? is it common? thx
  16. does usually people who edit 8K raw footage use file proxy? I mean is file proxy the standard of the industry or they have NASA computers to edit in real time? thx p.s. do you believe 8k will be a standard for home video movies and cinema? in which year?
  17. an idea could be to start a little "media campaign" on social networks asking people to share. if targeted only to budget films it should work. you must explain the reasons (all the info at first post are perfect). I saw "media campaign" about this problems in the past but they were targeted to "oscar movies". those media campaign were also ridicolous, they did not sensibilize people. they only tried to scare people. example the title say "Piracy is a CRIME" "Never steal a car? NO! Never steal a handbag? NO! Never steal a TV? NO! Never steal a movie in the store? NO! Download pirated movies is such steal! Piracy is a CRIME!" I was a young guy after seeing this advertising I laughed and I become a super pirate.
  18. thanks a lot I really appreciate your help. I'll roll up my sleeves!
  19. I was impressed with the Magic Lantern footage so I bought the canon 7D (used) for that purpose I know that's totally crazy. This is my first camera... and then because I have economic problems and at that time the best choice was probably a canon 550d used for me. The quality is incredible (I still in love lol), take a look at this video go full screen and press physical the numbers "6" and "8" on your computer keyboard. (it's a funny youtube trick lol). ...stay grounded I admit there is no reason to shoot RAW for me unless I want to make a short movie and experiments. To be fair, I hide behind the excuse that shooting raw = studying color grading in Davinci Resolve. this is false because theoretically I could learn the rudiments of learning grading in Resolve with h264 (shooting cinestyle). is this true? because I wish to learn Davinci Resolve but it seems that I need NASA equipment before i start studying.
  20. thank you, it's a little bit costy for me. the 8mm to 16 would perfect for the purpose.... I had this idea: "Olympus Body Cap" mounted on canon 7D. may you suggest some adapter or diy solution please? I guess maybe it's impossibile because some lenses are designed to fit at "tot." millimeters from the sensor. and I do not know if Olympus and Canon EF-S needs the same amount of space. maybe I' m rambling.
  21. no I'm using Canon 7d. is it possible to mount c-lenses on 7d using adapters? could it work? thx! today I'm in economic problems and I can't maybe one day I will! thx for the tips.
  22. thx for this tips to you and all the other members. I wish to ask you what would you suggest to me (which lenses) if you had to shoot with a crop factor 4,37x? basically I wish to shoot for indy cinema, this is the primary reason why I'm choosing lens to declick. the huge crop factor to shoot raw at the best quality on Canon EOS with magic lantern say goodbye to the true wideangle shots. basically 8mm become a 35mm with a crop factor of 4,37x ( aspect ratio 1,85:1). I was looking for the 8mm from samyang. the problem is that I really wish to avoid barrel distortion. and someone said me that the barrel of the samy 8mm still there even at "35mm". so basically I wish to find some economic solution. I'm looking also at some kind of wide angle lens adapters but they looks really bad. I need to use only the small center of the sensor (shooting 1:1 no lineskipping) basically it's like this. source: http://rbrune.github.io/mlraw/ using only the center of the image... maybe I could find other solutions. maybe strange lens adapters (speed booster?). lenses for other camera formats... custom solutions... I mean maybe I'm just seeing the tip of the iceberg. can you suggest to me some creative (and almost cheap) solution please? thx!
  23. thanks. may you suggest also some wide lens please? I need them around 10mm/18mm/ (maybe ok also 20mm/ 24mm) to shoot magic lantern raw video (I use only the center of the sensor so the crop factror may be huge). I'm searching for a compromise "cheap/quality" (also to declick), I'm out of budget unfortunately. thx again!
  24. may you suggest to me any cheap vintage (and modern) manual lens that I colud "declick" please? I wish to mount it on canon 7d body. thx a lot p.s. this is an example what I mean
  25. si italiano! anche tu? I'll get 4 modules for quad channel thx for the advice! guys do you believe that this CPU could handle editing RAW 8K ("for tomorrow")? thx again!
