  1. I saw FZ1000 is a bridge. is a bridge right for cinema? I knew bridge were really bad. is it changed? does it have full manual control for video? big sensor? good iso etc. etc...? thx
  2. thaks for advice but the problem is that they pay 5 euros for a copy (DVD), if I give it to one people they will probably not pay me. and they will probably copy the files for free each others. I do not know if it would be like this. edit. do you mean should I ask for anticipate money? and give them the link for the download page? but is this a professional standard? thx
  3. I wish to ask to professional video makers. if you do the work for a school, for example the Christmas Concert. Wich support will you use to give the final work to the parents? will it be in DVD video format? blu ray? DVD Data with a HD file + SD version of the same work? Which format will you use and for which kind work in general? thx. I ask this because in my country some video makers said to me to give my works in DVD Video, because many people can read it. But I refuse to do it, because I wish to give my works on a dvd data containing 2 versions: HD (h264 1080p) and SD (xvid or divx 720x400), to please all.
  4. my personal suggestion is 550D used. but I want to consider also 4K because in 2 or 3 years if he will work with it maybe it could be useful (if 4K demanding will increase). what do you think about it? too early for 4k? he is 100% novice. but he will also try to shot short films. thx
  5. thanks there is any alternative to the GH4 price range?
  6. My friend need his first camera and I wish to give him some advice but I do not know so much about 4K cameras. can you give me some tips please? He wish also to take photos. But the primary reason is to make short films. thx.
  7. which codec record the Sony F65? how many bit? is it CMOS or CCD? what about vertical lines pattern noise and aliasing? thx.
  8. thanks for your advices and Merry Christmas Max! yes I know that I could use Resolve instead than Lightroom it's for this reason that I wish to learn Resolve. I will try with MOV plus the codecs that Andrew said and I will report some result. the problem is that I aleady did a little test with different codecs and I have got different problems: the exported file had more bightness than the source, another one had "strange colors", another one was not recognised in Premiere CS6 (codec not supported), another one were really so much huge. But this exports were not done with a CDNG, I was working with some HQ jpeg. If I do not try with CDNG RAW files I cannot say if I will have all those problems again. to fix the banding problem at its roots on 7D we can not use Lightroom today (I hope one day it will be possible). the only way is to convert the file MLV to CDNGs with the software made by Baldand "mlrawviewer. this guy is a genius! MLV is the "RAW" file that you find in the CF card when you shoot with the 7D. what mlrawviewer does is to "unzip" this file to a lot of DNG (that are cinema dng) in the folder that you need. before exporting with mlrawviewer you can choose the staus of "stripes corretion" the "X" means active. then export in really, few, seconds (depend the size of the MLV file). so it's really fast to fix the stripes correction. it works well, not 100% perfect but it's really usefull. a little magic to my point of view. as soon as I can I will post some shots taken from the Magic Lanter Forum or made by me. the question is: does this awesome invention works with any camera? I do not think so. I believe this magic should work only with the 7D because I believe (not sure about this) Baldand maybe have only this camera. you should speak with him if you want to know more about his algorithm and if it can be done for different camera models. about the noise reduction inside davinci I saw this review. the reviewer say that Neat Video have separate noise reduction for "luminance" and "chrominance" (like Lightroom). Davinci tool have not (only one control for both). he believe the final results in neat video are better. http://mixinglight.com/portfolio/noise-reduction-in-resolve-part-2-neat-video-ofx-plug-in/ Marry Christmas Andrew and thanks a lot for your blog and your help!
  9. Hello guys Marry Christmas to you all! Today I have finally installed Davinci Reolve + Neat Video in my windows 7 PC and I wish to start learning this software and use it for my RAW files with Canon 7D. First to say the very first step of my workflow is removing the fixed pattern noise (vertical banding) and this is possible for the Canon 7D users that shoot in RAW video thanks to a developer called Baldand (you can meet him in the magic lanter forum), who made a -fantastic- Magic Lantern Video (MLV) to Cinema DNG (CDNG) converter (and more) that can FIX so much the problem (not at 100% but does a good job). so the first think that I do is use "mlrawviewer" to fix the banding problem and create the CDNG that I will use in Lightroom or (finally) Davinci Resolve. You can download it here: https://bitbucket.org/baldand/mlrawviewer Now I'm tryng to say goodbye to Lightroom for the color and I wish to ask you some advice about Resolve because I really cannot understand which is it the best output setting for RAW video on Windows: wich codec and setting should I use for export please? should I download external codecs? I have a clean PC aleady formatted so I have not any codec other than the quicktime that I downloaded from the website. thanks a lot for help! Dan
  10. imho the first (A) is raw the second ( b ) is not. because I see more "color info" in "bright" colors.
  11. Hello guys please can you help me with this choice? I need a new compact flash for my 7D, I want to shoot in RAW and I do not want to buy the "KB" cards because there are a lot of people having problems with it. I wish sandisk or another brand if possible. I have found this card: http://www.amazon.it/SanDisk-SDCFXS-064G-X46-Compact-Extreme-Memoria/dp/B00EZE6V50/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H I wish to ask you does anybody know if it wotks at 1728x972 continuous shooting? Another choice is this 32GB less... about the same price: http://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B00ECEVEP0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H Thx! :)
  12. thx. because i thought I had to calculate the 5X zoom and the crop factor. Am I wrong? There is no 5x zoom to calculate? thx a lot again for your help. :)
  13. thx a lot for this info! :) If I use 1920 x 1080 in crop mode which crop factor should I calculate? for example with 11mm lens should I get 47mm? I think I can shoot a movie with this focal lenght :) ok I loose the wide angle but it's not always necessary.
  14. thx. my problem is that my lens are: 50mm 1.8 and the old canon zoom 28mm-90mm. so in crop mode the tiny focal lenght that I can have is "28x5 (x 1,6 crop factor) which is 224mm
  15. I know I need it so it's not important if it's 2014 and 7D is a little bit an old camera today (not so much). I wish to ask you if someone have to sell his unit it Europe, that would be awesome because used could be affordable maybe. New is too much costy I think (I have a discount code but it's really little), because I could change my camera very soon and I do not want to waste money. Does my thoughts sounds good? Thanks for help and any advices! :)
  16. yes but conversions always ruins a little bit the original file i guess but I do not know how exactly :P
  17. but I guess is not a question of quality here (cinema standard) it should be that if the timeline is at 48hz and I put one track at 44hz on it... it will sound faster or slower (one of the 2 not sure which). Try to make a 96hz empty track in pro tools and then put one song recorded at 44hz without converting it at 96hz. it will sound very different (I guess really faster than normal speed). so if this is correct and it should 48hz is a standard in the cinema not for a question of quality, but for a question of "speed". it should be like this difference (33 & 45) 33 45 is a different speed
  18. i know that audio standard for cinema is 48hz for dialogues so maybe this is not a good idea. can it go out of sync if recorded at 44hz? or slow/pitch the movie to sync? if anyone can explain why 48hz is cinema standard I will be really grateful. thx!
  19. ok thanks I'll search for them :) how with them does it last more than normal batteries? thanks again and sorry for continuous answering but I'm really curious about those questions! thx again! :)
  20. thanks @Varicam so I did the right buy I hope! :) I wanted to ask you how many mAh are the Eneloop Extreme that you use? thanks!
  21. do you think few hours are enough to work as sound designer (taking audio dialogues for short films for example)? thx!
  22. I have read over internet (I do not remember where) that if I connect some shotgun mic powered only by phantom power to the Zoom H4N.... the battery will last only 15 minutes. Is that true? I have the Zoom H6 (the new model) and I'm tryng to save money to buy the Rode NTG3 that have not internal battery, so it only works with phantom power. How do I have to expect the performance of my recorder? Will it really last only 15 minutes? Thx!
  23. Hello I need info about lavalier mics. My recorder device is the Zoom H6 I need lavaliers as alternative to shotgun mic, I should take the audio in short movies, and interview. My question is how much money do I need? Are the wireless system affordable? How many mics should I get? How little must they be? Thanks for any suggestion! :)
