I haven't seen any footage from M5 yet, but the G5 footage actually has some jerky movements I didn't like. Waiting to see m5 demos to decide.

Raw video on the Canon 7D - Super 35mm raw for under $1000

BMCC, 5D3 and 7D all have different crop factors, so while your images could be matched by color in post, they would most probably look quite different optically. -

Glad to hear that...the current BMCC 2.5k has a bad habit of dropping frames and getting hot after half an hour of shooting, I wonder if the 4K camera will be able to avoid these same problems...I'd rather shoot in smooth 2K than have 4K with dropped frames. They're trying to lock out other people from doing full reviews..? WTF...too much ego and competition in this game nowadays.
-
Andrew, did you experience any drop frames during the Kineraw shoot? Thanks.

Raw video on the Canon 7D - Super 35mm raw for under $1000

I think alot of the complaints that people level at RAW comes from their experience shooting with RED cameras, which have terrible batteries and require lot of data wrangling. -
P.S - Oh, and by the way, why the hell does Stallone look so sad? I never got this about him...he just seems depressed all the time.

It seems that Kickstarted has become a vanity thing for celebrities as opposed to a real source of funding, - the "Hey, look much fans love me" sort of thing. Expect Kim Kardashian to pitch her next perfume line on Kickstarter in 4, 3, 2....

Affordable S35 RAW is a very specific market that noone has tapped into yet ( except 7D, lol ) , and it is also the largest market because it is closest to traditional 35mm and that's what most independent filmmakers aiming for theatrical distribution will go for. BMPC 4K ( Built in 4K Recorder, Built in Monitor ) = $4,000 KINERAW Mini + 4K Recorder + Monitor = $7,000 At $4000, you will be able to get a Kineraw with an external monitor, and still have only half the resolution of BMPC and no global shutter in the same price range. So you'd have to choose between 4K RAW + Global Shutter vs 2K RAW + 100fps. Tough choice.

Before BM floods the market with affordable RAW cinema cameras, Kineraw still has a chance to gain marketshare by dropping Kineraw Mini to $2K. It would be a desperate move, but one that could pay off in the long run. They have a chance now to use BM's delays to their advantage, it would be much more difficult to gain RAW marketshare later.

Can anyone imagine Steve Jobs quitting Apple just because people thought he was an asshole? A visionary is driven by the passion of invention, not by having his ego stroked. Pathetic.

I love the images coming out of this camera and the form factor, I almost ordered this but pulled back due to lack of IS support, will definitely reconsider if they enable it.

The NTGs also have additional accessories like shock mount and pistol grip w/ zeppelin, - quite a modular system overall.

Official statement from Blackmagic on new camera shipping

I think so. They shouldn't have announced anything at NAB and instead shocked everyone with shipping units. Apple are geniuses at product rollout. -

My local dealer claims the 4K camera will be available in August. Right around the time of the rumoured new 50mp 4K DSLR from Canon. -

The problem with sponsored sites/forums is that they eventually start censoring free speech and criticism under the slogan "Let's all be professional, folks" as if being nice is more important than being right. I love EOSHD forum because it has the most free environment for discussion. -

Criticism will be healthy for BMD, it will prevent them from becoming the next RED cult and keep fanatics and douchebags at bay. -

I half-expect they will ship the pocket on time but will bump the 4K to December or something. Will hold out for a few more weeks.
