  1. Zoom and focus ring were consistently smooth. Just the right amount of stiffness! As far as I was aware there was no noise.
  2. I tried out the camera and the 16-55mm f2.8 and 56mm f1.2 in London last Friday. What an awesome combination. Felt real good in the hand and the images were superb as always. However, after watching Max's videos I have decided to go with the A73 afterall. Some of its features will just be really useful for me, but I will definitely miss the use of my Fuji 35mm f1.4, the sideways tilting screen and the higher resolution EVF.

    Motion Cadence

There are some people that are extra sensitive to motion cadence though. @Oliver Daniel (who does a lot of professional work) was talking about this stuff way before most people on this forum

For me it's only really noticeable with handheld (shaky) footage where cameras that have slow readouts will have a wobbly image. IBIS can negate this but can also end up introducing artifacts of its own. Plus there's the weird feeling of lag as you pan the camera, the image is always slightly behind where the camera is exactly pointing - although the end viewer won't know.
  5. And why did this need its own topic?
  6. I have always wondered if increasing the highlight setting on some cameras such as Panaosnics and Fuji's could actually make the highlight rolloff better. I've never tested it but in theory it seems like it would reduce the abrupt clipping, making it more of a rolloff.
  7. They may need to add settings to tone down the IBIS so that it doesn't make as many abrupt movements. I think other cameras with IBIS would benefit from this too.
  8. Nice review and footage. Great to hear from someone who has used both systems. Earlier, webrunner commented that Fuji is "too pretty" and that its stupid to pick a camera just based on image. But I will say its much easier to make a pretty image look grungy than it is to make a grungy image look pretty. That's why the SOOC fuji image is such a draw.
  9. This is a video forum but that doesn’t mean everyone here shoots only video or has the same priorities. I agree it’s a bad choice for longform video shooters but there are a bunch of reasons this is a great choice for hybrid shooters. Want an EVF and IBIS? You can forget Canikon. Want a larger sensor than m43 with more megapixels and better DR/low light? You can forget Panolympus. Want sharp 1080p and non-dimming LCD in 4K? You can forget the Sony a6xxx series. I can also flip it though. Want smooth autoexposure transitions, reliable autofocus in video and fast lenses that don’t make a racket? Forget Fuji.
  10. I mean of course everyone has a right to share our opinions here but it just seems like a waste of time to continually write about a camera you have no intention of getting. Fair enough pointing out flaws - those are useful things to post about. But it gets a bit weird when you keep harping on about them as if you have some kind of vendetta. Especially when you start resorting to hyperbole like "Fuji is not the second coming of Christ trust me", which no one even alluded to. Now the truth is we have no idea why Fuji's interpretation of ISO is so different. I need to do more investigating but I believe the DR setting does have an effect on this.
  11. I don't know what's going on with you but over the last few months I've noticed you've gotten quick to become aggressive. No one here is out to get you. Just because some people don't find certain features useful doesn't it mean it's an attack on you. Just like how AF isn't a priority feature for you, lack of 10bit might not be a deal breaker for others. Repeating the same things over and over isn't going to change people's minds.
  12. Much less aliasing and moire but still very soft. The 80mbps codec in the 80d is complete unnecessary.
  13. Perhaps the shadow setting doesn't do anything on the XT20 in video (much like the XPro2)?
  14. Have you run into the grid pattern flare?
  15. Does anyone know when this camera will hit UK stores?
  16. Nice video Attila! God I can't believe how good the Fuji stuff looks. It's not ALWAYS right, but when it is - god damn!! Really making me re-consider the X-H1 over the A7 III. Edit: Oh wait, this footage is actually from the XT2. Damn! Hah. Who needs FLOG when the standard profiles already have as much dynamic range as necessary.
  17. They will probably save ergonomics and colour for the next release... They have to hold something back.
  18. This forum recently has a worrying trend of posters pulling statistics out of their ass. Unless you can back it up, please don't use them to back up your point.
  19. Indeed I think manufacturers have to find a better approach. Perhaps minimal buttons and a much larger rear touch screen is the way forward.
  20. @webrunner5 holy shit I'm never moving to the US. Sorry to hear about all that! Sounds like you may have to give up the camera life. I have seen it in walking shots but that's it. Link me to one where it happens without walking please.
  21. @Yurolov where have you seen the IBIS being super jittery?? I just had another look at that video. It appears at least some of those clips were taken on different days. There are clouds in some of the Fuji clips, where its completely clear in Panasonic ones. And yeh, the Fuji looks overexposed. He may have knocked that exposure dial accidentally.
  22. Yeh like I said earlier, Panasonic colour these days is very life-like (particularly for scenery). My only complaint is that skin sometimes goes Trump-orange. Not sure if you've ever shot with Fuji's but I feel like you kind of have to have been there at the scene to appreciate what it's doing with colour. It's not always obvious with comparison videos. Like when I shot this NX1 vs XT2 video, plenty of people said they preferred the NX1, but when I was actually shooting it, it was clear that the XT2 was rendering things much closer to how the scene looked and felt.
  23. its not so much the skew that concerns me but the jello effect in handheld shots. Of course with IBIS the problem is mitigated somewhat though
  24. As someone who uses cameras mostly for travel and social occasions, I do very much appreciate the compact form of these cameras. In fact I wouldn't mind if they shrunk it down further to a6500 size. Don't forget if you want a chunkier body with pretty much the same features you can get the A99 II. BTW has anyone used the 50mm FE f1.8? Hows it in autofocus in video?
  25. For a 90mm lens, that's really great!
