  1. Wow, you're right, I didn't realise it was linear. However it takes about 5000 turns to go front infinity to close

@jonpais How is that sigma 16mm for manual focus? Is it linear or variable?
  3. I had the same experience when I got the Canon C100 II and used it alongside my D5500. The d5500 just looked better. Unfortunately just quite soft.
  4. Not sure if I'm gonna get slapped on the wrist again for making this a separate thread. But here we go. I just want to know which m43 lenses have linear focusing rings? As you may know, most mirrorless camera lenses use fly-by-wire focus systems, which means when you try to focus manually, the change in focus can depend on the speed at which you turn the ring. A linear focus ring would be one where the change in focus doesn't vary by how fast you rotate the ring.

@jonpais This is simply untrue. The IQ from both lenses is similar. I've read reviews saying the 20mm is technically better, but the difference is very hard to spot on the 16mp m43 sensor. The 20mm has an awful MF ring which is stiff and acts like a typical fly-by-wire lens. The 17mm has a great, responsive clutch focus ring. I'd also recommend this lens over the 20mm any day.

As some of you know, I have a bit of disdain for large, high priced m43 glass. But I think the results and samples from these two posts were compelling enough to make the lens worth it for sure. https://outlier-v.livejournal.com/206786.html http://lenswork.tistory.com/entry/Olympus-45mm-f12-PRO-Review-vs-Panasonic-425mm-f12
  7. Same reason why you can't get Classic Chrome on the X-E1 or Acros on the X-E2. They leave some things out as incentive to buy the next one
  8. Well it is just an opinion to be fair. The other stuff I wrote were facts. I have been using Panasonics for years though and found during my short time with Fuji's that Fuji clearly know what they're doing when it comes to that.
  9. According to Fujirumor's trusted source, the new camera will have a better grip compared to the xt2 and other ergonomic improvements. And there will be internal flog. The advantages over Panasonic will be the colour science, native aps-c sized sensor and more reasonably priced glass (eg 35mm 1.4, 23mm 1.4, 56mm 1.2 are all cheaper and more compact than m43 equivalents whilst having more character (i.e. imperfections)). As well as phase detection AF. Im not planning to get this camera since its out my price range ($2k) and im not a working video guy but if it was id buy it.
  10. Was that in video mode? And does the focus still pulsate even when the object is still?
  11. I think it's the opposite actually. Most filmmakers ive seen who use GH are there to get work done, knowing its a work tool. Youtubers complain about its lack of autofocus ability and low light capability and so stick to Sony's and Canons.
  12. Could someone test out the XT2 with new firmware? Does focus still continually hunt in video when af-continuous is on?
  13. I spoke to a Panasonic rep some months ago who said they would be announcing more about the organic sensor at the end of the year.
  14. As I understand it, that's exactly how it works anyway. It's just that in previous cameras the processor has been too slow to do this efficiently whilst recording. I don't know why they wouldn't just put in phase detection. My theory is that they are held back by Sony with contractual obligations. They're not allowed to use Sony sensors with phase detection.
  15. @PannySVHS What kind of short films are you into anyway?
  16. What EVF do you use Justin?
  17. I often use DXO OpticsPro (now called PhotoLab) because it usually gives much nicer colour/tonality compared to Lightroom. Phase One Capture One is another one I use because it too often gives better colour than Lightroom.
  18. To be clear, I wouldn't be using this for anything where the main purpose is video. It'd be more of a photography lens.
  19. So it's here https://www.wexphotovideo.com/olympus-17mm-f1-2-m-zuiko-digital-ed-pro-lens-1643052/ As thought, pretty much the same size and shape as the 25mm. As it happens, I am using Panasonic bodies again at the moment, so I may just end up getting this lens if I ever have a spare $1000. God damn my lust for 35mm and shallow dof. 20. Is the D850's screen bright and sharp enough to attain focus in bright daylight?
  21. It has 60p raw?? I missed that. How stable is it? How long does it run for?
