Yes I'm using some of the same drives from the previous computer. I've ran tests though and found no errors on them. Current PC is Core i7 6700k @ 4ghz GTX 1070 16gb DDR4 Asus Z170-P Previous was: Core i7 2700k GTX 680 (and a GTX 460 before that, and a 260 before that) 16gb DDR3 Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 The OS drive has been different for each PC, but both have been SSD's and both have also contained the Adobe installations.

No it can happen with just Premiere open. That's what I thought at first but I've never been able to retrieve a dialogue box from underneath anything. Also clicking "End Task" in the task manager causes the program to close as if it had crashed. Normally if you try to end task in the middle of a project, Premiere will ask if you want to save.

I have this problem with Premiere and it's been happening for years and continues to happen despite constant updates and despite having changed my PC a couple months ago. The problem is that about 10% of the time when I open a Windows Explorer dialogue box through Premiere (for example, when I want to 'Browse' for a LUT in the Lumetri Panel) the box will fail to pop up and when I try to click on anything in Premiere I get the "cant be clicked" sound. I have to use Task Manager to end Premiere and then restart it. Does anyone have get this problem? Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

Yeah his latest vlog looks great. And i usually hate it when i read this following statement but.. the highlight rolloff does seem very nice. I wonder what profile he shoots in

So I went to Jessops today and to my surprise they had a demo unit of the GH5 running! I was super impressed with it. Body feels great, stabilisation is fantastic and the AF worked really well, at least with the kit lens. I think the image is stellar as well. And although it doesn't have the "beautifying" effect of Fuji, it does represent the scene quite well and I'm sure could polish up well GH5 with kit lens, standard profile (-5 NR, sharpening): XT2 18-55, Standard profile (-1 highlights/shadows, -4 sharpening): The rep was a nice guy as well, although we did have a long discussion about equivalence

This new camera seems to cannibalise the d500?? What are the advantages of the d500 now?
-
Really nice. One of my biggest gripes with m43 cameras is that they produce purple flaring (either from side flare or from when pointed at the sun with small apertures). So far from the footage I've seen, Panasonic seems to have eliminated the issue with the GH5

I still have my D5500 which spits out a very similar image to the d750. I dont shoot with it anymore though since getting the XT2. Its 1080p is not as clean as the d5500 but it is sharper and the 4k is sharper still. I still love the Nikon image though and could see myself hopping back if they made a mirrorless with 4k video and F mount compatibility.

I just made a surprising discovery with my 23mm WR. Turning the focus ring at different speeds does not affect the distance the focus travels. This is highly unusual for a fly-by-wire lens. What other lenses act like this? My 18-55mm and 35mm f1.4 don't.

I haven't seen enough footage to really make a call. Most of it looks pretty typical of Panasonic cameras, so it doesn't excite me too much. The Neumann stuff was fantastic but I've not really seen anything comparable since. However, considering all the specs I think it represents remarkable value for money compared to other camcorders such as the C300 Mark I, FS5 and Blackmagic Ursa Mini. (Yeah I consider it a camcorder because of the broadcast standard codecs and unlimited record time). Sooo I think... keep it if you're going to make use of the features (4k 60, V-log, 1080p 180fps, minimal rolling shutter). If not then stick to what you have because the GH5 is heavier and more expensive than your other cameras.

Yes I read that too. I'm not saying they're liars but I will say I'm sitting here looking at my a5100 and XT2 right now and I can't see any difference between the size of the mounts or what's in them

After the latest firmware, my list of quirks is shortening. For example, the ability to map ISO the the front control wheel is brilliant because it means I can lock the ISO dial and not have to worry about it changing when I move the shooting mode selector. Here's some final things that I would like to see changed. I hope Fujifilm follows this topic. Ability to change the Custom Setting in video mode (so strange that this is greyed out!) Video AF functions: Ability to change focus transition speed (the time it takes for the focus to go from one point to another), changeable AF area size, face recognition in 4k, ability to choose face if there's more than 1 face, reduced focus drifting in AF-C, removed focus hunting in AF-S, focus tracking in AF-C, improved face tracking (currently loses you if you move sideways). Internal F-log (or a "Light" F-log that has slightly less dynamic range and a 400 ISO base) Reduced moiré in 1080p Increase of 1080p record limit from 15 to 30 mins, 4k from 10 to 15 mins. Seperate settings for video mode (ie. when you move between stills and video mode they both have separate custom settings) I would like to see an X-T2 "S" with the following hardware changes: Much larger grip Flip-out touchscreen screen (like the Canon 80d and many others) More accurate colour on back LCD (currently has a greenish tint) AF-S/AF-C/M dial moved from the front of the camera to the back Pop-up flash that can be tilted upwards Lastly I know that Fuji said they wouldn't do it because it would affect image quality, but I really would love IBIS. If they can't do this then they really need to put stabilisation on lenses!

thanks @BTM_Pix, interesting comparison! I'm surprised by the performance of the Fuji at f1.4. I have the lens too and knew it was sharp but didn't think it'd be as sharp as the Sigma Art. What I also like about the Fuji is the flare it renders.

I also have only been able to look at Flog through a monitor. It seems to have up to 2 stops more DR. But you lose the nice SOOC colours. So youll have to decide which is worth more to you. Btw theres a recent blog somewhere about a guy who used the original blackmagic video assist with the Xt2. In the comments section he said that it can downsample the 4k signal to 1080p and record it.
-
@jonpais Veeery nice! The camera and lens brings out all the subtle colours and tonalities of people's faces from different ethnic groups whilst the clean 4k images makes me feel like I'm there. If I ever filmed something narrative though I think I would definitely put a Tiffen filter in front. What did you use to stabilise the camera and what ND filter?

I see. Could you not shoot people with their permission under the guise of street portraiture?
-
I will keep that in mind for my next review

Is there any way to get clips to "Set to frame size" by default when you pull them into the timeline?
-
Max's gh5 or lens may have been buggy. I have seen much better AF by other youtubers
-
Make the sequence 1080p. Add your 4k source material. Scale it down by 50% so that it fits the sequence resolution. Then if you want to "zoom in" you scale it back up.

I heard somewhere that the 16-55 f2.8 focus ring is almost like a real manual lens. Can anyone confirm?

@pekoo @Kisaha like i said ive not tried more extensive tripods but ive had absolutely no problems with mine, even with it fully extended and the c100 on top, doing camera movements Edit: and also the xt2 and unstabilised tokina 80-200
