Man this camera sounds so good. A true video workhorse with 12 stops of DR, improved RS and an excellent codec. All for less than £1700 (almost half the price of a C100 II and a third of an FS5). Neumann's sample footage is stunning. Really looking forward to owning one of these.

I think the shooters who say they offer great sharpness wide open are talking more about central sharpness, which the ultra fast primes do have (according to the charts ive just been looking at) I wouldnt say most fuji shooters recommend the ultra fast ptimes anyway. Ive seen plenty recommend the WR's. Personally i like them for their rendering

If yes, how does it compare to other shotgun mics? Bonus points for anyone who's also used an NTG4 and can give their thoughts on the differences. I used to use the NTG4 and was very happy with it.

@Henry Gentles Ive owned two Sigma 18-35mm's before and neither of them had the major chroma or AF issues you speak of :/ Are you sure you don't have a bad copy?

Yes one battery will easily last 10 min. I don't know how long exactly but way more than 10. I would say Panasonic colour is fine. I take issue with how aggressively it shifts colours (especially skin) from their true colour though. Sony does a much better job actually. Recorded in 1080. The EM1 II is pricey but there's nothing else like it on the market. 4K with almost no rolling shutter. The best stabilisation in the industry. The best continuous AF in M43 - with touchscreen control. Unfortunately for those needing 60fps, its quality is appalling.

@Stanley @jonpais I did a side by side shootout with the GX80 (Gx85) and Sony a6300 in 1080p. I'm still meaning to get round to editing them into a video but here are some clips from the GX80: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1094036/P1010612.MP4 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1094036/P1010618.MP4 IMO: Detail is as good as other Panasonic cameras ive used. There is a little bit more aliasing going on but not as much as the a6300 and Canon APS-C.

@scotteverett Can you shed some light on why dpreview continues to support and report DXOMark's ratings on image quality (noise, DR) despite your own reviews and charts often showing much different results?

Same sensor, same XAVCS 50mbps 1080p image up to 60fps. Just different features. The a5100 has a touchscreen that can flip up for selfies but cant be tilted down to do high angles (unless you flip the entire camera i guess). a6000 has an EVF, tilty screen and hotshoe.

How to handle out of range video levels (GX80 / GX85 in Premiere Pro)
Inazuma replied to Cary Knoop's topic in Cameras
Cary, I have to thank you for reminding me about this because I did actually forget about it. The easy way to fix the problem actually (in Premiere Pro anyway) is just to use the Fast Color Corrector and change the white OutPut Level frm 255 to 235. Before: After: -
For those thinking there is a dynamic range problem with this camera I would like to again point out my earlier post. Just make sure you expose for the highlights and you're good. On the issue of ISO. I did some tests a few days ago and found that the XT2 is clearly a stop darker than my Nikon D5500 and Sony a5100 at the same ISO. But luckily the noise performance is still fairly similar when you bump up the ISO on the XT2. @jonpais You should give -1 highlights/shadows a go. I find -2 makes skin look too flat and is not recoverable. Also Astia veers skin more towards orange than Provia does

Mercer I think you are going down a similar path that I did.. I bought a D5500, then a GX85 then an a6300. (spoilers: you will sell those last two and then buy an X-T2). @Andrew it would be nice to see some more artistic videos like you used to do (eg Analogue Christina, Aerogirls, Herdwhite and the RX1 one which doesnt appear to be available anymore)

The hot shoe is very unlikely to break. Not sure how putting a cage around it would help. It would just mean you're worrying about two hotshoes now instead of one. Or am I missing something..

It will only help if your CPU speed is being throttled because of high temps

Yeh the IBIS on the G80 will compensate for the Oly. The Oly is by far the better option imo. It's slightly cheaper, sharper, better handling of flares, more zoom range, And of course the focus clutch.

Resolution is limited to 720p for me when controlling via android phone

Just the default

Does anyone else have the 18-55 + one other lens? I swear with AF-C in video this lens carries on hunting after locking focus a lot more than my 23 and 35.

Yes it is interesting nobody mentioned the lack of exposure aids. I suppose a lot of people (myself included) only rely on the the LCD and exposure meter. There are a lot of quirks with this camera but I'm forgiving it all for the image. It's just stellar. With Provia and -1 highlights/shadows, the colour is just so pleasing. One thing people should be aware of btw is that depending on your video player and settings, the video may seem a lot more contrasty than it's supposed to be. It looks fine when imported into Premiere or Resolve tho. Regarding switching between movies and video. I think if you intend to do that a lot you may want to consider switching between bracket ans video, which is just one click instead of the multiple ones to get to Single shot.

tl;dr on that video: He loves the camera but won't buy it because he personally wants something with IBIS or a more major camera like the BM Ursa.
