  1. Go with the lx100 I think. When you have a bit more money you can buy some filters to make the image look a bit more vintage, like the Tiffen Black Pro Mist or the Cinemorph anamorphic filter

    Lenses

    ​Nikon Ai, Ai-s, F and G lenses are all actually the same mount. Just work in different ways. G lenses don't have an aperture ring and so your adapter will have to have an aperture lever built in. I don't think the Zhyongi has it but the Camdiox and Metabones does.

The evf on the GX7 is pretty crap imo but because its tiltable you can actually use it in a unique way by getting a Manfrotto Pixi http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81M38qFcN-L._SL1500_.jpg you can rest the legs against your chest and rotate the camera's EVF up so you can look into it comfortably and get stable shots. That's how this was made

  11. Haha well it's a funny thing really. I had a D5200 and then a Panny GX7 and now I have a D5500 (and still have my GX7). I wouldn't say the Nikon is far superior for stills. And I wouldn't say the GX7 is far superior for video. Both have different looks. The hard part is choosing which one you want
  12. The 18-35 is optically amazing but I have not been compelled to take it out to the streets because it really seems in-your-face big. I don't know if anyone else feels the same way? This new lens is almost twice as heavy and has less focal range. Not sure how useful it will be really?

  14. In HQ mode it does around 40mbps when shooting at 60fps and around 20mbps when shooting at 24fps. Canons do have better bitrates but I believe the d750 still is a bit sharper than the 5d3. The 6d is OK but has a lot of aliasing/moire.
  15. Well the good news is that finally CC 2015 is out Been waiting for that colour panel in Premiere since they announced it.
  16. One way would be to shoot a colour chart with both a BM camera and a Canon 5d and then use the colour matching feature in Resolve to match the Canon footage to the BM.
  17. ​It's been good. There is an exposure meter in LiveView which I had not expected. The screen is big and high-res enough to flip it out and use the camera ENG style on your shoulder. Bright enough to use on an overcast day too I think. I hope you mean the newer 35mm lens because the older DX one sucks. Also you should check to make sure that you can control video with Wifi. I think I read somewhere that you can't. The image is very nice but when you focus to infinity you really notice how soft it is (compared to a Panasonic camera or the A7S). However it will be very similar to the D750. Here's a clip I took last Monday, shot on Flat. The second half of the clip is graded to how Id visualise it if it were a film.
  18. All the (ungraded) shots looked good. Just gave different feelings. Which goes with my theory that you pick cameras like you would pick film stock.

As far as I know he's the only big blogger on the internet to do so. Philip Bloom is good but his test videos are usually boring B-roll type stuff. Over the last year I've noticed a decline in creativity in the videos Andrew has posted and an increase in his aggressive forum posts. It's good that he's taking some personal time
  20. I cant agree with your analysis, Ed. There weren't many landscape shots in Ex Machina but the ones that were there did advance the story. Usually with the character going to or from places. And usually creating a contrasting edge to the clean, highly technological interiors. Ex Machina is about the tipping point between being a robot and human, and how other humans would interact with them. The fact that they are sexualised humanoids works well with the story because we humans are more inclined to build a rapport with attractive members of the opposite sex. The inventor in the movie is also a needlessly buff, handsome guy but I don't see any complaints about that?
  21. Is Resolve 12 a free upgrade from 11? So Id be able to buy a cheap used dongle and use it for 12?
