So is Resolve Lite a more intuitive, faster replacement for Premiere? If so I might downgrade my CC package Also as far as I can see, noise reduction is the main advantage of getting the Pro version. But if you really want noise reduction that badly you could just get Neat Video right?

You will still be able to capture the fireflies. Just not the surrounding area. In theory anyway. I've not tried it so I don't know

Yeh I was thinking on the "Moonlight" A7S video that someone put on vimeo not long after the camera came out they were using huge ISO numbers AND a fast lens. So like Julian says its not really possible with the GH4, or most other cameras even.

Can you explain what you're talking about? Is Resolve doing all the things that Final Cut and Premiere Pro do for free?
-
Great footage Mattias! Love your vids btw. Your voice is great Also that D16 footage is great! Did you change the colours at all or just the curve?

I am guessing when the fireflies come out it will be pitch dark right? Lit only by moonlight, if that?

1. Those DXOmark sharpness ratings are heavily related to the camera megapixel count. For example, Nikon's 50mm f1.8 has a 10mpx rating on the Nikon D7000 (16.2 megapixel) and 14mpx on the D7100 (24 megapixels). So don't use them to judge overall lens qualities for a camera system. In fact I've found my Olympus 17mm f1.8 to be sharper wide open than a lot of other glass I've used for other systems. 2. Dunno 3. For 1080p video it doesn't matter so much

I just did a quick test with my new D5500 with Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 ISO 3200 Neutral picture profile, No noise reduction: Flat, No noise reduction: Flat, High noise reduction: Basically it looks clean as long as there's light. But if there's light then you wouldn't go to a high ISO anyway usually And here's the Panasonic GX7 with Olympus 17mm f1.8 ISO 3200 (No curve, no iDynamic, -5 contrast, sharpness and noise reduction): BTW I'm really loving the ergonomics of the d5500. Grip and buton layout far better than the old d5200 I used to have. Not to mention the touchscreen which Im already using more than I thought I would.

Yep I'm hoping to receive the D5500 and some other stuff this week so I can use it on a shoot on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes The girl with the dungaree was a bit of a wild child and her energy permeated the room. Aside from that we just put a bit of effort into directing them to do certain things and yes there was music used at one point but the shots didnt make it into the cut. She's a really good singer btw. We did this live video for them using the same setup

Which can be quite beneficial actually. Like the Sigma 30mm f1.4 becomes an f1.0

Hi everyone I did a video shoot with the D600 and GX7 a few weeks ago. The d600 is really usable when you use it with a telephoto lens. And here is a blog post about it http://sebcastilho.com/2015/05/24/shooting-a-video-with-two-very-different-cams-the-panasonic-gx7-and-nikon-d600/

I'm pretty sure its just that he hates everyone here

I received one of these today. It's a cheap (£34) lens that comes with its own soft little faux-leather pouch, adapter ring and macro step up. The lens is made of metal, has a front thread and has well dampened rings that have grooves. It has a minimum focus distance of around 25cm though it is marked as 30cm. The size is perfect for small cameras like the Panasonic GX7 or Sony a6000. It is optically superb with similar centre sharpness to my Olympus 17mm f1.8. Certainly sharper than any other cheap lens I've bought. Also minimal flaring and CA. Colour-wise it reduces the saturation of reds/oranges which is actually beneficial on Panasonic cameras because they tend to overdo them. Also it is a low-contrast lens which helps with getting flatter images in video. The only downside I've found so far is that it is actually more than 1.5 stops darker than the aforementioned Oly lens. Now whether this is because its aperture is actually smaller than advertised or just because of low-transmission elements I don't know (would need a Panny 25mm f1.4 to compare). Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have not had much luck with those luts. What settings do you use on your camera?
-
OT but why have you changed your username Ed?
-
Is that the video you meant to link?
-
Not sure what you mean? When I was looking a few weeks ago, the Macbook Pro did already have a dedicated video card (the Geforce 750 M). The move to Radeon seems like a poor choice to me as the CUDA cores of Nvidia are more widely supported

Could you not just buy a matte screen protector?

This could be another solution? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blueskysea®-FEELWORLD-FW689HD-Support-Monitor/dp/B00CA15NOU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431900148&sr=8-1&keywords=field+monitor

I'm soon going to be selling my Tokina 28-70mm f2.6-2.8 AT-X Pro II. Anyone in the EU interested?

My friend uses a Mac and FCPX version 10.0.8. I use Windows and Premiere Pro CC. I want him to be able to export an XML that I can import into Premiere Pro. There are two ways to achieve this: One is to buy X2Pro. The other is to export an XML v1.3 or 1.4 and I import it into Davinci Resolve on Windows and export it out again as another XML which can open in Premiere. Problem is that we don't know how to get his FCPX to export those particular versions of XML. Anyone here have any suggestions?

Oh wow the £260 is only for the flip out part :|

Thanks for your input Ebrahim. The reason I was asking is because I have been using my D600 a bit and have found it to have extraordinary dynamic range in video when using the CineFlat profile. However it has dog shit sharpness and insane moire/aliasing. I'm going to sell it now and replace it with a D5500 to use as my main video & photo cam for serious work (despite the crap OVF and lack of a second dial and top LCD). The GX7 will remain with me for travel It has great video quality and dynamic range, but the cineflat profile on these Nikons is something else. Plus the natural colours.. Thinking of buying an external recorder too later on, but does anyone know how much of a difference it makes?
