When I tried the iphone 6 and plus in the shop I was amazed by the quality. it almost has a DSLR level of tonality and the video stabilisation is insane. Theres some comparisons here http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=6144&idPhone2=6665&idPhone3=5596

Shooting a Feature on **** cameras, can you guest it?

The colours and tonality look Panasonic to me. G6 maybe? What lens filters did you use btw? -
T5.0-8.9 Hmm seems a bit slow

Last night I was looking on Vimeo at GX7 videos to see what other people were producing. For the most part it all seemed very casual, not much good stuff in there. But then I came across this: First of all you should know that I've been shooting with my GX7 for almost a year now and I've messed around with the camera settings and resultant footage loads. So I pretty much know GX7 footage when I see it. The video above looks completely different to anything I've seen previously.I remember a phrase Andrew used in one of his videos regarding the BMPCC, "The camera has a very filmic response to mid-tones". And I guess this is the only phrase I can use to quantify what makes this footage look different. If you look at the tags on the video above you will see a mention of "Tiffen Ultra Contrast 5". So I did a little more research and it seems these things had their hayday a couple years ago around the time when the GH1/2 and Canon rebels were popular. These days some people still use them even for high end cameras like the RED. Here is the description from Tiffen itself: I quite like the look that diffuser filters give and it sounds like the Low Contrast filter will give some of that look along with the softened contrast. Does anyone here have any experience with these and can make recommendations?

To be honest I wouldn't base a buying decision on whether or not the camera can shoot at 6400 ISO. In fact the only cameras with usable results at ISO 3200 and above are probably the Canon 5d3 and Sony a7s. https://www.vimeo.com/97040210

What do you mean by the package? Try the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. Cheap but very well regarded!

Devon/Andy could you show us some samples with those lenses? :) Btw Andy I really suggest you take a look at that Sigma. At 18mm wide open, you still get good background separation and combined with the angle of view you get an almost out-of-this-world kind of look. Just buy the camera that works well for you and learn to get the best image out of it.

Really impressed with that. Well done :)

Highly recommend the sigma 18-35m f1.8. Terrific performance even at f1.8. In fact when I had it, the colours and sharpness seemed better at f1.8 than at f4, which was strange. Also with the metabones nikon > mft speed booster, it was parfocal (or at least very close)

Curious... If you are making that much money, could you not afford something like a RED? Maybe even on finance? Reading the comments on this blog post http://danieljohnpeters.com/2014/05/14/gh4-2/ he says the clients know the RED brand and often would rather have him use that instead of his gh4 despite the benefits of working with the gh4

You could continue using your little camera but rig it up heavily and use big lenses?

Best small camera for 1080/60p - Panasonic GX7 and A6000 review

The EVF seems bad to me regardless of the light :( But the iq is indeed very good. -
I heard somewhere that the bitrate is highly scene dependent. Have you tried shooting a very detailed environment or with lots of movement?

It's more made to bring the skin colours to their natural complexion rather than actually change them :) The LUT desaturates the particular orange/yellow tones in the picture and shifts their colour slightly.

A GH4 in your pocket - Panasonic LX100 with 4K and Micro Four Thirds sensor
Inazuma replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The contrast curve is there. Most of the weird looking footage you see from the gh4 is because of those Cine profiles. I would avoid using Cine profiles even if they were in it. Especially as the codec is only 24mbps. Yes it's 100mbps at 4k but thats still pretty much the same mbps per pixel seen as 4k is 4x as many pixels as 1080p. -
I really dislike the way this camera handles details. It doesn't resolve much of it, and what it does resolve gets sharpened heavily. It just looks very odd. But yes, it's a joy to use and in sun light the colours are very nice.

Original Post: http://sebcastilho.com/journal/2014/10/05/panasonic-skin-correction-lut/ Hey guys. As you know, under certain conditions and depending on your picture profile, you can sometimes get skin that looks very orange and/or yellow. I really didn't think anything of this issue until recently where I seem to notice it everywhere (much like how when I first started out, I never recognized moire and aliasing, but now they're clear as day). Last night I kind of was just messing around with my footage and thought maybe I could fix the issue. I have been saying for some months now that you can pretty easily change colours to whatever you like if you really wanted to. So now I've gone out and done it. In the zip file I've included four LUT files with different strengths to suit your scenario. The one above is with the x2. On the blog post linked above you can see more examples of it in use. It is quite useful for when you apply other LUTs and skin becomes too orange. This can be used to dial it down :) The good thing about this also is that it doesn't really affect other things in the scene much. Also note that all the examples were shot with my GX7, which only shoots at 24mbps! Download link

You need to frame your shots better as there's often too much going on in each shot. A longer lens and shallower DOF would help too. I would also advise getting a monopod or something as a lot of the shots look very handheld, giving an amateur feel.

Panasonic GH4 user films, tests, reviews and opinions
Inazuma replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@Pascal I would not rule out the curve control just yet. I find it can make a nice difference to set it to -5 highlights. I haven't done any before/after tests with it on skin but I would image it wouldn't make a difference because it only works on the brightest parts of the image. http://imgur.com/ff542pW,aJugtLQ#0 (Click between "First Image" and "second image" at the top for before/after) -

I haven't got the GH4 but from what I've seen, it looks like if you avoid the Cine profiles and shadow lifting, you can avoid strange skin tones that look too orange or flat. You may also have to desaturate those colours a bit in post. I think a lot of it depends on situation really. I mean in this video, the 5d's skins are more orange and the blackmagic's look a bit yellow/dead, whilst the gh4 is actually producing some quite nice tones. It really does all depend on situation and picture style.
