  1. Amazon (itself, not a 3rd party,) is selling some lighting gear for about 1/7th the MSRP. Obviously they fucked up on pricing but I placed an order. Hasn't shipped yet, so, anyone have experience with Amazon honouring or cancelling orders on incorrect prices?
  2. It's also a pretty shitty mic. I use it for my VO but have to record under a blanket + carpet and process the hell out of it in audition. Still ends up sounding off, lacking bass and with this weird reverb, though I get tons of comments about having a great ASMR voice. :P
  3. This is dope. Would be cool to see some side by sides with like a c200, raven or ursa. Also would love to see some high speed samples. It's already a crazy tempting purchase. SSD and Kinemount options are fucking sick. Just wish the back didn't cost so damn much. Also iPad only WiFi is kinda dumb. Thanks for sharing with us Raafi!

  5. Awesome for studio shooters. Wait if you want a 4k BMPCC.
  6. Curious to see how you guys upgrade: Do you wait to sell your old gear before buying new stuff? Or do you buy new gear and sell the old whenever? I've always waited on buying but am currently sitting on a huge Kessler package. Need to upgrade for a heavier camera body (got the vanilla 4.6k super cheap) but have a few projects coming up and no one rents the slider I need. The wait sucks. I try to sell local first and then expand to ebay if there's not enough interest.
  7. Is YouTube encoding all uploads with vp9 now? (Their mp4 bitrate is really horrible.) Haven't checked in while.
  8. Audio input is used for sync. I always thought the prerequisite to criticize a product was a basic understanding of it. The hate for steadxp must be coming from butthurt gimbal noobs who have to criticize something that may actually solve a lot of the flaws inherit to their devices. Oh shit, something that doesn't need to be endlessly calibrated and isn't an ergonomic nightmare to pull focus on. Buy hey, I haven't used steadxp so I have every right to authoritatively declare it a shitty gimmick. lmao
  9. Who the [...] has time to make profiles to grade their footage in camera? Way easier to shoot log/flat and then grade to whatever look needs to be achieved. -edited
  10. Someone should contact them to let them know that, Mattias, from YouTube, doesn't think Kinefinity is worth it so they can recall their cameras, issue refunds and shut down.
  11. None of the videos you posted explore the issues inherent with all OLED panels or the abysmal low light performance of the v30. Also, Ars Technica has been around forever. lol (even the Samsung looks fucked, disclaimer: I own a Note 4)
  12. The phone is a massive piece of sh*t: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/lg-v30-hands-on-lgs-oled-displays-still-have-quality-issues/
  13. Actually, ignore my first post, Andy's stuff isn't good for us. Here's basically the LukiLink (Android only) available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/HDML-Cloner-broadcast-streaming-Android-capture/dp/B01CI08N6M The app itself hasn't been changed much yet, I guess the OEM provided them with the source code for the apk, but I hope Frank can add all the stuff he's promising on the Kickstarter page.
  14. The editing was EXCELLENT. I really appreciated how sparingly you used the "gimmicks". (Some travel vlogs are getting crazy with the use of ramps, fades, masks, zooms, etc.) Looks like you shot 4K and delivered 1080. I'm guessing that was a huge help re-framing some of the shots? Color was all over the place. I guess that's a side effect of using so many different brands?
  15. If anyone is interested in getting a LukiLink style adapter: https://www.febon.net/ https://febon.blogspot.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/andyzhengster/videos Andy has been producing these devices for a long time. His English sucks but he can be reached via email. (Not trying to sabotage the LukiLink. The app their making is definitely worth supporting. Just providing info. These adapters have been available for several years.)
  16. You'll need to strip the wires before you proceed anyway, which will hopefully reveal black, white and copper wires. The copper is your ground. Black is L1 and white is N.
  17. Hi Lenny, you have nice even lighting on that green screen! Here's a suggestion: Nikon-mount Sigma 18-35mm. This lense can be found used for a reasonable price. Just make sure the RJ Turbo (or whatever focal reducer you buy) has the aperture ring for Nikon G lenses. Plus if you get a dumb adapter (no glass inside) you get double the focal range!
  18. No it doesn't. It's under 1kg, closer to 980g. And that's with the EF-BMPCC metabones adapter; would be probably lighter with the passive Nikon version.

    Mini Slider

lol the travel is so short
  20. Here in Canada, Fuji and Sony are offering 2 to 3 day rentals of their cameras and lenses at Vistek. Fuji: X Series body + lens + accessory for 3 days Sony: body + lens + accessory for 2 days or a weekend Offer expires at the end of the year.
  21. Every month I embark on a ritual to find a lens lighter than the Sigma 18-35mm + Speedbooster combo. I never find one. Native zooms are way too slow and I haven't been able to find a 1" c-mount lens. So is this what I'm stuck with? Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic combo, but ideally I'd love for it to weigh about a half pound less.
  22. Lots of pseudo bullshit in this thread... Short and simple: YouTube reencodes EVERY (valid) file you upload. Uploading in 4K and above triggers YouTube to make VP9 (higher quality) streams almost immediately. (This is the key thing here as the MP4 stream is absolutely shit, turning your footage into macroblocking smears.) You don't have a corporate or partner account, your videos will always suffer from poor bitrate.
  23. Care to share any links to C200 RAW samples?
  24. Because you probably shot all the footage. It takes a lot of fucking time nailing camera movement, lighting and getting a good take from the talent. So when you get to the editing bay, you're far more unlikely to be willing doing the necessary: trimming that shot (that took all day to get,) down to a few frames, or worse, omitting it from the final cut. Can't believe this thought took so long to dawn on me. Got into a huge fight with a friend who asked me to help edit their short. His main argument was something akin to, "YOU CAN'T CUT THAT OUT REEEEEEEEEEEEE-" Made me think like: oh fuck, am I this attached to what I shoot? Sorry for the clickbait title.
