That video is such a favorite. The children and landscapes are beautiful. I found his article (the last one in the series of three) very informative. His 4-wheeler shot, the one where he rides down the street holding the drone, is what sold me on the Phantom's 3-axis stabilizer. I have a trip scheduled in August and plan on using this exact setup... I am also disappointed that the new GoPro model is not available. The Panasonic and Sony action cams both seem nice, but I have more faith (at this point) with the GoPro. Bloom's ability to color correct a video such as this is probably the most important aspect that goes unnoticed (IMO). His advice suggests keeping the drone close, with simple moves.

I wish you real success with your program and look forward to seeing your upcoming work regardless of what equipment you decide upon. All of my research and input from the EOSHD members led me to the SLR Anamorphot. I really can't say enough good things about this lens. It's a clean image and focusing is thoughtless. Andrew's book is a must have and will save you a lot of time. Sean Maxwell's input and instructional video is really something to consider as well considering his commercial experience. Good luck to you.

Keep shooting with the GH4 Aaron... I really enjoy your work! It's a fun camera and the next model is rumored to have a better frame rate for 4k. I noticed that the unit seems to be constructed well and thought-out. Their abilities with compression are also impressive. I noticed a 3D or dual mount was offered today, which had me thinking about a comment that Vincent Laforet made recently... he said that Japan and China consumers are really really into 3D.

Gus, who does all of Ken Rockwell's work, is a local guy who is very reputable and talented. His work is reasonably priced for what he does. Excellent find and thanks for posting. Curious to see how well it works, if I can find one that fits. How often or what percent of the time would you say you are using this filter?

Wow Aaron, we are on the same page! FYI, I am seeing good results and some interesting looks by netting the back of the lens.

Really enjoyed this Andrew. I look forward to purchasing any book you produce explaining how you were able to achieve these looks. My favorites were inside the subway @ 0:06 and I think @ 0:58. Either way, your model is a knock-out and the music choice was spot-on.

Ty's use of sound is really impressive, I would have overlooked this aspect of things had it not been mentioned earlier. Special "shout out" to Aaron's latest... the sound effects are timely and leave me reassessing my own efforts.

Very helpful response. What about the idea of a small mic stand in front of the person being interviewed... it wouldn't be in the shot. Would I get the same results instead of booming overhead? Is it simply better to mic up high?

I see your point. I'm rethinking much of my original idea though about working with a lavaliere. I'll be interviewing much older and affluent Jewish women and I can't say that I am comfortable with wiring them for sound in a way that doesn't show the mic. I also feel uneasy about possible ruffle from clothes and how to fix if it were to happen with these ladies. Thus, my research going forward seems to point towards a shotgun mic of sorts. I would appreciate any input or experience from the good people of this board regarding this route, I am open for suggestions.

I looked over and researched all that you have posted and I count it all a real wealth! I'm having some trouble understanding, due to inexperience, what is meant by... "The YN-300 II and YN-600 are "bicolor" and more versatile, however they are effectively 1/2 brightness when using the daylight LEDs (I'm using lights in the daylight 5000+ K range). " I'm actually planning on purchasing the YN-300 regardless, just curious what is meant by 1/2 the brightness. Any information or experience you have with the battery life would be helpful to know. To see that you have posted a link for an AC adapter is interesting :) Also, what percentage of the time do you have a light such as this mounted to the camera?

FilmBrute, I appreciate your input and the idea you mentioned of using a lavalier microphone... this make a lot of sense to me. Do any of you involved with this board feel there is any real noticeable difference in quality between the Zoom H1 vs the Zoom H4N? I understand build quality and the available options are different with each model... but at the end of the day, does the H4N sound that much cleaner and/or better? My thoughts were to spend more on a good microphone and settle with the $100 H1. Does this seem like a good idea?

The SLR anamorphot arrived today, which was very quick shipping from CA. I'm really looking forward to shooting with it, but no camera yet and Panasonic is now saying mid-May. I didn't purchase the full kit, which I may regret. I saw later where their specific adapters were "calibrated". Do any of you think I should "step back and punt" by sending this lens back and purchasing an older prime? PS. Silly question I asked... didn't realize an extra battery was $12! :) I'm accustomed to portable power always being an issue, which is not the case with this camera.

@8:14 the Atomos representative mentions his wish of having a "stop, start trigger"... what does this mean and how would it help?

I agree, my dealings with the 4K video option on the Hero 3+ were not ideal at 12fps.

The Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 @1.7 On a MFT + speed-booster + SLR Magic, it's my understanding that 35mm is about as wide as it gets or that can be expected without dark corners. Anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding?
