Best Recording Monitor under $1000: Atomos reacts to the BM Video Assist?
Brellivids replied to andrgl's topic in Cameras
Let's do some math. Black Magic video assist. 5" 1080p TN screen - 20-50 $ electronics (icludes arm cpu) -40-60$ connectors + case 10-20 $ licences 10-30$ manufacturing / assembly - 10$ top cost 170$ low cost ~100$ (does not take into account the financial cost of coding the software for the device) I'm probably not off by much. How can they do it?.. it's all there. I bet the margins on Atomos products are even higher. -
Canon 5D Mark IV "will be 1080p" with Canon LOG

What really does not make sense in my book is Nikon and their lack of interest towards video pro's. They come out with these un usable products like J5. Who cares about the 1 lens camera line in the first place. YES I do think that the only reasonable lens is the 32mm 1.2 .. -
This camera is actually designed for a new species we have yet not met who's vision works at slower 15 frames per second rate. I bet the video bit rate as well once they make a 24fps one is something like 24 Mbit for 4K video. So perhaps the 4th 4K camera will have reasonable feature set for video work. I may be too optimistic. Besides who knows if the actual 4K video is like Canon 1080p .. and the real resolution is like 2K / 2.5 K .. lol For me the J stands for Joke.

IF the implementation was at the same image level as the one before it (120p).. I might be interested enough to buy the NX1. When the D7200 came out. The first thing in my mind was .. IF ONLY Samgung made few Good telefoto lenses for the mount. something like a 100-400 , 300 f4 IS. I would not mind having camera that can do nature photo work as well as video work.

What's The Best Camera For Shooting A Low Budget Movie?
Brellivids replied to fuzzynormal's topic in Cameras
Panasonic G6 used (300 dollars) some glass and Zoom H5 (zoom H4 is not that good with proper XLR mics) + a decent mic. The upcoming OMD-5MII seems promising.. the actual video quality remains to be analyzed. -
The new Canon 5Ds 50MP full frame DSLR and video (rolling coverage)
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Well it's a matter of sales to ppl .. the key is what ppl believe they get instead of what the reality is. Like huge percentage of people think that there is a 2 party system in the USA even tho there reality is just one party. You gotta be able to sell stuff to people even tho the realities of what you are selling are different and obvious to limited few. -
This A7X could mean A7S .. and it could mean A7C or A7SII .. or something else. I would not get my hopes up .. Sony for as long as I can recall has not shown Panasonic / Samsung like customer driven way of releasing stuff.

It's nice that Samsung has joined the game. These specs are copied from the link below. Samsung platform is quite tempting if only it had a sports / nature telephote lens as well. A 400 5.6 designed for APS-C .. and voila. In addition to that a firmware upgrade for the NX that add's H.264 recording in 4K.. Then it really would be one machine to do it all. Photography, be it nature (400 5.6+ 15fps) and video 264, 265 28MP BSI APS-C sensorD5s image engineISO range: 100-25,600New hybrid AF with PD55ms super fast AF9fps with AF1/6000s shutter speedEasy sharing with BT/Wi-Fi/NFC3: Super AMOLED tilt &flip LCD screenDual command dialWill be available in three different colors: black, brown, white http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/first-images-of-the-new-samsung-nx500

All great choises with their unique strenghts and weaknesses. size of lenses = some what GH4 (smallest possible lenses) combined size + weight low light - Sony Most future proof 4k / best quality in good light is - perhaps Samsung. then again can you acchieve that at decent enought level with Samsung lenses? is some what a question mark.. the samsung "proper lenses" have nott been tested at dxo. even tho like Andrew test seems to show that CA might not be that much of an issue. Both mft and sony platforms are speculated / known to be getting interesting technological options later down the road. Sony A7000 (perhaps with 4k output) A9/A7RII GH5, Olympus EM5-II / EM6 even tho those cameras may not end up beeing video specific unil GH5. Samsungs platform evolution past NX1 is even more ellusive question mark. I'm personally learning with GH2 and G6 for now. During the spring I will likely invest into a cheaper GH4 or something else. Do what I do .. learn with cheap camera. get lights now from ebay. etc .. LEARN .. perhaps buy used or cheaper GH4 later. I sense this upcoming spring time will be soper hot competition between all brands. Even Canon will likely release a FF mirrorless.

Sony A7 II review - 5 axis stabilisation in video mode
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
There was this one test on youtube that I saw (I cannot recall by who). In that test a important prospect was that aprently the A7S is bit too thin for follow focus work. The bottom part of the camera is too thin and that leasds to bending vertically. So in that sense a wider base of a camera is not a bad thing. -
This sensor is such that if it's cheap to produce Sony can basically produce many generations of products with this same sensor. Think it like Canon 18Mpix sensor in 1 zillion product generations  Naturally the video cameras that are built around it are limited by the ammount of CPU/ RAM (buffer) + storage implementation. Even tho ram beeing very cheap it's a shame that we will likely see a slow progression in the use of this sensor.

G6 used or GH2 used is what I would probably go for.. Then add 64GB Transcend U3 card ~42 euros (works with hacked GH2 and Sony A7s .. I'm not sure was it Andrew who just wrote that A7s needs SDXC card to work properly.

Canon releases a new camera line called MEH. Canon's chief architech Mishiku Opportuntzie speaks about the product development of their MEH line of cameras. "Canon is strong on two paths the first is Imposible and the second is MEH. We listen to our customers needs and offer to them the choises of MEH1 and MEH2.

Windows 10 is built to support 8K monitors from the start. Pair it with a good enough graphics card to make it work neither is available yet.

It would seem to be according to SPECS then. Many thanks for your input and effort! Is your understanding then that the Panasonic Cameras rely fully on their focusing tech inside the camera body. How about the Olympus will that use the flash units focus beam I wonder. The good thing is that at least according to Panasonic spec the GH4 AF range starts from -4 where EV and for instance DMC-G6 is -3 EV.. I have tried to find the AF -EV number of the Olympus OM-D EM-1 but so far I have not found it from the web.

Preface: I ve been pondering about the usability of panasonic GH4 or OM-D EM-1 as a main Photography camera. Yesterday I came upon a worrying bit of data that you GH4 owners might want to check out if you have the camera. When I was looking about the AF metering range of OM-D EM-1 and comparing it to the GH4 I found out other things on the imaging resource site. Performance test score says that GH4 shoots only 21 RAW images in series where as the OM-D EM-1 shoots the promised 50 . Panasonic GH4 (claims 40 RAW image burst) Imaging resource test = 21 RAW images and buffer takes 23 seconds to clear (sandisk 95MB/s) Olympus OM-D EM-1 (claims 50 RAW image burst) Imaging resource test = 50 RAW images and buffer takes 16 seconds to clear (sandisk 95MB/s) http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/panasonic-gh4/panasonic-gh4A6.HTM http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/olympus-e-m1/olympus-e-m1A6.HTM So if the data is right.. Panasonic has little PR thing in their hands again. I can safely say that Raw image buffer size is very important for pro photography. Needless to point out that the 12BIT raw images are not really helping GH4 either.. Why in the world they cant' they be 14Bit? Allso what I figured with a Metz AF 44-AF1 flash is that it does not seem to fire a a focusing beam on my GH2 or G6 bodies. I wonder that are all Panasonic models such that they dont support External flash focus beam? The feature is higly important when photographing indoors in poor light and when you cannot rely on the cameras own focus assit beam to reach far enough. So I'm asking that if any of you Gh4 owners might want to test it out. Use a sound recorder while you shoot a full Raw image burst with GH4.. From the sound recording file you can calculate the number of shots it was able to take before slowing down. Thanks in advance if anoyone is willing.. If the buffer is indeed only 21 images .. it could be something that Panasonic can fix via Firmaware or the test unit was pre production.. (I did not read the I.R. sites test that well)

The great thing about open source is that anyone capable can code and sell their self made additions to Axiom camera. Think it like this. For an example let's a imagine a guy called Andrew R. who is a hardcore coder. Say he wants some nifty effect or feature like HDR Video ?? Now Andrew spends 3 months in his basement and voila he has something very special. Now Andrew starts selling the feature for 49.99 and earns some x amount of thousands from it.. How awesome would that be. everyone stands to benefit.. coders can earn nice moneys and us hobby/ pro film-makers can get awesome features for the cheap. Naturally this tech will have it's challenges as would any thing new.

In a EU country the consumer warranty for electronic gear is two years. What ever the receipt says it is 2 years by law.

The old ones will be dropping in price nicely :)

Sounds good. It's good to remember that this kind of hack project might be clever scam that tries to get donations. It's best to wait patiently for good proofs from testers that it actually does something etc. I have zero doubt in relation wheter is doable or not.
