I was quite impressed byt the D810 fisherman video. Perhaps Nikon should make a mirrorless slim bodied version of their D810 and sell a larger grip as an ad on. add proper 4K with proper codec , headphone out , mic in, focus peaking and ask 3650 for it .. 12 bit RAW does not cut it for me .. a nikon edition A7R with 14bit RAw's would be perfect.
-
Perfect camera would be: a camera that designed to fit a new lens system that consists of small enough lenses with close to 0% chromatic aberrations , distorsions and other artifacts. Lenses that focus silently at selectable speed .. the speed curve you can change your self. lenses that are -Weather proof -shock proof -made with light yet strong metal hulls say titanium -12-20 aperture blades for near perfect bokeh balls. camera body that has some kind of super resolution m34 sized 8K foveon sensor video sensor and you can record at selectable 1-2000 FPS 8K, 4K, 2,5 K 1080p in either 16,14, 12 or 10 bit raw or any of the availble codecs at the compression level you want.

Samsung U28D590 review - Ultra HD 4K 28" monitor for $599
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I would not call this article a review. I would call it user experience. If you want to see what a monitor review should consist of look for instance to TFTcentral. I value every article here on this site i just felt the name was missleading. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/samsung_u28d590d.htm The monitor seems to lack HDMI 2.0 ports which for some might be important. -
The awesome tracking capabilities of the Samsung NX camera has seem to be similiar what the Samsung's robotic weapon platforms have. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2756847/Who-goes-Samsung-reveals-robot-sentry-set-eye-North-Korea.html ( check the video on the article and you understand what I'm talking about) According to the videos name those sentries can kill a man from 2 miles away. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I found the vid.

Panasonic future lenses POLL what do you want? I want 75mm 1.2 macro
Brellivids replied to Brellivids's topic in Cameras
When talking about birding/wildlife lenses a 250mm 2.8 with IS might work as well. Make it have focus via remote extension cord for documentary wildlife video shooting. Think about it beeing able to focus as a one man band. I would allso welcome a 12-35 ultra pro edition with f. 2.0 LIke Inazuma suggested. After all the DOF of the 12-35 2.8 is far from FF equivalent. Perhaps make it 11-35 2.0 (this would bode well for 4K crop of GH4) -
So Panasonic apparently just announced a 30mm 2.8 macro lens. It seems decent on paper. What I would like to see is a pro level 50,60 or 75mm 1.2 weather sealed Leica 42.5 quality macro lens with image stabilization (since panasonic does not have inbuilt stabilization) This kind of lens would work double duty as a portrait lens and as a macro lens. The MFT world is growing nicely. This new pro level 40-150mm 2.8 zoom from Olympus seems honestly good enough. Likewise I'm happy to hear about the upcoming 300 F4 prime from Olympus. What kind of lenses would you like to see by Panasonic? On a secondary needs basis I would like to see 14Bit Raw images support for GH4. To make it more Pro photography oriented. 12 vs 14 bit RAW's are very important for professional photography needs. on my short list there are 300mm 2.8 with image stabilization or pro level 100-300 2.8 with IS. Perhaps 400mm f4 with IS.

For serious photography the 14bit color space that the the DSLR*s provide is much more desirable than the limited 12 bit of Sony's RAW's (correct me if wrong and the sony has 14bit) Some times it feels like these japanese camera companies coordiante their releases since not one of them provides everything. I allso find my self thinking If only GH4 shot 14Bit RAW images it would be well suited for Pro photograpy

The S35 at cost is not a bad deal. I hope the very best for this project. It's much more interesting and impressive in it's specs than the Digital Bolex is. I mean real mounts and all. I dont want to touch C-mount glass if I dont have to.. properly locking mount is a must. You can use spoon as a knife for only so long. Remains to be seen how big hurdless will this project face like the Bolex did. Philip Bloom allready ordered one.. I will at least donate 20 euros if I dont order one. At least donate 1 dollar ppl. This camera can grow to be amazing since it has no limits what kind of code it can run. Think about different kinds of PRO's charging 5-100 dollars for totally different feature / software set for it or for free :) .. nothing there is available now comes close to the options this approach allows.

THE FIRST MOVIE with SLR MAGIC 10mm T2.1 on GH4 4K ! EXCLUSIVE !
Brellivids replied to Sebastien Farges's topic in Cameras
This product just entered my list of things to consider. :) One thing I would ask of you readers of this topic. Pls ask DXO to test these kind of lenses as well. You can do it via their easy to use request forms on their dxomark.com site. IT's no use if I'm the one of only ten ppl asking for these manual focus M43-lenses to be tested. Let's get some numbers there. :) I currently have the SLR magic 25mm .. it would be interesting if dxo would test it .. how it compares to the very good Olympus and Pana/Leica options. -
I'm very interested about the prospect of using the 42.5 lens for stills with GH4. Offcourse for video as well. But main spark comes from the fact that GH4 has amazing stills AF speed and good low light focusing capability. Naturally the 42.5 is far from perfect as it certainly cannot acchieve the same Shallow depth of field that say 85mm 1.2 on a FF can but it still looks to be the best there is for portrait work in MFT land. Naturally the other very strong contenders are Olympus 75 and Oly 45mm. Ihave Olympus 45mm and SLR magic 25mm 0.95 only the SLR magic provides a very shallow depth of field.

GUYS and gals.. This tread is excellent example that you should pay attention to your information more carefully. All most all the posts here lack information. One reading this get's wrong impression like ZILLION times on wheter you are talking about autofocus while taking pictures or autofocus in video mode. IT should be all so stated what video mode is in question. My understanding is that GH4's AF speed in 4K video mode is slower than GH 3's AF speed in it's 1080p video mode.

I still have Canon Glass if that turns out to be the case :) .. I could use 4K 7D mark II with a Wildlife stills aspect. A true APC-C hybrid camera anyone .. perhaps Canon should realease a external OLED viewfinder with 7D II .. IF ONLY .. I kinda like the idea of real viewfinder for picture taking then proper connector based good quality external EVF that is not part of the camera. When I tested the GH4's EVF I found it still lacking vs real Prism viewfinder for picture taking. Even tho the GH4 EVF is from another planet vs the GH2's .

Yeah. IT might be so.. 8 Mpix is not plenty (I should know since I'm looking towards max resolution with Nikon D810 for stills). Correct me if I'm wrong I kinda remembered that 4K is 8Mpix or 12 .. it sure is not 16 or is it. o_O ?? Anyways my core point remains that make it purely 4K video resolution sensor and perhaps the still shooters could be compensated with lowest possible noise of any MFT camera and something mad like 24FPS or more like the Nikon 1V1 consider 30FPS with best MFT glass.. that could have professional appeal allready.

I have been interested about this upcoming D810 Since I dont have any Nikon Cameras yet but I have gathered nice used Nikon mount lenses. The reason I'm interested in this camera is the still side only. I was not expecting it to have any note worthy video features. But what does that tell us about my thinking process. We expect way too little from the companies. We should expect much more. These minimalist product iterations certainly are not good for the enviroment. for instance I dont see any reason the shutters could not be built to last 1 million shots. And the camera should naturally support the latest cards and connections. IF it indeed uses a new sensor the claims that it's better need to be proved fisrt. It could be worse. Since the move to cheaper poroduction locale certainly is about cutting the costs .. they might be saving on the sensors as well. These companies lie all the time. For instance the Tamron 150-600mm Zoom is only 560mm according to the patent and allmost all lenses dont really have the F numbers that they clame they have (DXOmark tests seem to prove that). Cinema lenses seem to be the exception. For me it's the 36Mpix sensor for still work that is interesting. I'm not fooling my self in the respect that I understand that have to have the right glass to have benefit from the Megapixels. The Sigma 85mm ART is on my list.

Go Pro needs to expand into new territories if they plan to meet those revenue expectations. Offcourse the idea of any IPO and specially hyped up ones is not allways about the future prospect but it's often about how much will they be able to pull from the market with the IPO even tho the company might not be that valuable EVER. I expect the GoPro 4 to be about 4K as the number is fitting as well. The GoPro 5 will likely be about higher bitrates for 4K.

About to buy a GH4 but... but how bad is this noise problem?
Brellivids replied to Lasers_pew_pew_pew's topic in Cameras
I'm equally interested in this aspect. Allso I'm interested in the real bitrates that the camera records in 200Mbit mode. Some have said it's just 50Mbit in the 1080p 200Mbit mode. -
Panasonic should do GH4s with pure 4K res sensor ( I asume that would be 8Mpix sensor) and then add even more features to it like 60 fps for 4K and 200mbit recording in 24 fps mode and 400Mbit recording in 60 fps mode.. UHS-II cards etc. Better low light performance. Make it 4K video hybrid camera first and 8Mpix MFT photo camera second. The battery grip should be removable and there should be different sizes of battery grips. Basically the GH4s could be synched to another one for 3D video two cameras side by side and then they would use external power.

I really hope they release an EF to MFT electrical adapter at the same time with upgraded electronics and broad lens compability. This development process has been very long one. I'm personally more interested in the compability of the third party canon mount lenses. I dont value the Canon glass that higly these days. After all there is no 30-36Mpix Canon FF body yet. We dont really know how far the Canon L lens resolution goes vs Nikon & Sigma lenses on the D800e. Panasonic should really up the ante on the PRO lens development front. We would certainly like more of these pro lenses like the new Pana/Leica 42.5mm say perhaps a new 11-13mm pana/leica prime with very low CA and low distortion.

Were you expecting say blackmagic cinema camera :)

If Canon's recent commintment to product development is any indication the 7D mark II will have -20Mpix sensor same as the 70D -1 stop better noise control -mic socket -similiar 720p upscaled to 1080p as before but now with 60 frames as well. ( dont think about shooting video of water or brick walls) those will be fixed in 7d Mark III in the year 2019 -and the super duper feature will be WIFI AND GPS -multiple face detection and direct facebook upload. :o SOOO COOOL Canon will allso realease a new slogan that says. Canon you can .. if you wait long enough.

Some interesting new info from the GH4 design team
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
If only we could transmit a message to Panasonic design team that panasonic should allso make wildlife glass (birding glass) I mean they have this marvelous focusing on the GH4 but neither Olympus nor panasonic have yet to announce pro level native longer focal lenght lenses for MFT. something like 250mm f 3.5 -or f 4 IS 400mm 5.6 IS 100-400 5.6 IS I bet panasonic could brake new ground with those and go after sports ppl as well. the up and coming 150 2.8 is only so and so. if it were 200 2.8 IS then it would be interesting. -
Yeah for me it's about acquiring used Nikon mount Glass to be used with the metabones Nikon F to MFT speedbooster. I may end up buying the D800s for stills and GH4 for video work. So far I will stick to GH2. If the D800s has 4K video which I highly doubt it would be even sweeter. Knowing Nikon as a company is like people who still watch regular tv and dont know anything else to do.

Could some one tell us / me what are the actual bitrates the GH4 records in the different recording modes .. The menu option it self tells us pretty little if the actual recording bitrate in 200 Mbit mode is just 50 like some ppl are reporting on the web. 4K = 1080p 200 average , max = 1080p 100 = average , max = 1080p 50 = average, max = Would be higly appriciated.

One solution might be a third party external HHD raid box. IT's best to remember that RAIDS are usually limited in read speed to the speed of the drives but they do write at twice the speed of one drives write speed since two drives are writing (RAID 0) So external box that lets you connect SSD*s to via SATAIII it and has thunderbolt/USB3 would likely be the fastest and cheapest option to get fast external storage space. I have no idea wheter such prodcuts are readily available atm or not.
