Latest version of VLC played the whole thing fine. (all 4 cores at about 75%, GPU usage level unknown) Machine 2500K @ 3.3Ghz + Asus AMD Radeon 270X (Windows 7) Firefox 29 starts it nicely and all the cores are at 34% but it wont play the whole video. Tried twice and on the second run it stops the playback in different part of the video on firefox 29. It's worth mentioning that this combination of HW is has not been proven to be the optimal for Video playback I get these smear on screen when I playback Bluray material and other high res stuff. My work machine that has Nvidia GTX 470 and i7 @ 3.4Ghz plays video much better. So what I'm saying there are many factors that can affect the playback. The hardware + it's drivers + the code of the software that plays back the video.

Samsung NX1 mirrorless camera to feature 4K video?
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
yep. This Samsung possible 4K camera is one of those products your better off not waiting for it. Just forget it .. for now. If the day comes that it becomes available with the 4K video .. then perhaps pay little atention to it and analyse what it is etc. -
The very underestimated problem of RADIOACTIVE lenses
Brellivids replied to Junior's topic in Cameras
The saddest FACT about nuclear energy industry is that Thorium is much safer much more plentiful and cheaper to obtain and the reason it's not used as a energy source is nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons and nuclear energy go hand in hand. The human population could be powered via global solar grid that moves energy from where it shines to where it does not shine via cables. The last big war that started at 2003 has costed well over 1 trillion dollar so far. Imagine how large solar cell manufacturing infrastructure could be built with that money. Tesla Motors Giga factory has a price tag of over 5 billion dollars. The factory will be larger than all the other battery factories in the world right now combined. Top of the line Intel semiconductor FaB / factory costs about 1-1.5 billion dollars with high end robots and all. Now you can perhaps quess that a colossal solar panel factory would be much cheaper .. add to that equation the little snippet that sand the source of silicon is RATHER PLENTIFULL .. This is children level math that could change the whole world. -
I hope best of luck to you. Good products are allways in demand.

Panasonic GH4 4K Production Diary - Day 2 - Test Footage
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Andrew you will want to try out one of these if you allready havent. It's not perfect but it's very nice tool of it's own. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574929666&toolid=10001&campid=5336727214&customid=&icep_item=270947685870&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg -
Updated Nikon D4S looks set to disappoint pros for hybrid video
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This product launch is good example what is wrong in this milking system allso called capitalism. Every iteration and as little as possible changed will be sold as a sepperate product. The problem with such model is the huge amounts of waste it creates. If it had usb3, latest SD card slots or 1 new and one old. It would be much more future proof. heatsink (extra cost 2 dollars) Then again this is the worst form factor of the availble DSLR's to be the basis for a videocamera platform. For a photographic use it might be well performing tool. For some one with lots of Nikon Glass and real need for one and hasnt made upgrades in a long while. -
The Blackmagic production camera price drop by 1000$ from 4000$ to 3000$ there's a change that allready took place. Competition is good. it's a shame we do not have that in the CPU (computer processor) market. Intel has built the same product 4 times now.

IF I were Panasonic I would try to come up with a new lens 24-90mm 2.8 IS (fullframe terms) to go hand in hand with their GH4. Allso a small product change to include UHD II card slot in say GH4a and some other good improvements would be smart for later part of this year. Perhaps a silent shutter 4K timelapse RAW video feature for instance. Since it will be only for while that the GH4 holds the fame and then other great products will be released from competitors.

Dear Panasonic the wish list for a video edition GHX
Brellivids replied to Brellivids's topic in Cameras
At the moment that might be the case. Unless it's software that is optimized for graphics cards like the mercury engine in Adobe products. Eventually Adobe products and others will likely implement a real time acceleration for H.265 editting. -
Dear Panasonic the wish list for a video edition GHX

Does GH4 record in 265 ? I'm all for multiple codecs.. perhaps have both. In regards to the memory cards .. I mean the new UHS-II cards. Those are likely be fast enough depending on model and they are likely much cheaper compared to the latest and greatest CF cards. Why not add two options 1. clean HDMI out with a special tougher connector + Panasonics own adapter / connector cable. That much milking I could agree into. why not make it two cards slots while one's add it :) 2. UHS-II card slot + CFast slot -
Which 4K camera for the masses? GH4 vs Blackmagic Production Camera
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It's likely due to bussiness reasons. Pushing more ppl to buy very higly profittable extension box is good moneys if they manage to sell alot of them. There likely are no real reasons why it cannot be done in camera. Like add two memory cards slots 1xSD-slot 1xthe new CARD-slot (that fuji has) -
There is still use/ demand for larger megapixel cameras that are mainly used for high-end portrait / landscape work. At least in Canon's line-up.

Only a handlfull of ppl will bother with Nikon 1v1 raw pic based videos anymore.. Since it would be plain ... I will not say the word :D

Hands-on preview of the powerful 4K shooting Panasonic GH4!
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah get a Sigma 35mm Art and a speed booster and your set.. Black magic pocket cinema camera + 3 different speed boosters and the upcoming Sigma 24 mm art.. what else do you need :D (to be honest the hassle of swapping the lenses is a pain in the arse and not suited to certain faster processes). So can some one clarify the math .. Is the 4K crop to 35FF is 2.5x? like the above poster said?? or ist it 2.3 x what I recall reading from some early discussions at 43 rumors. -
I bet there will be new cheaper 4K recorders entering the market inside the next 6-8 months. I'm hopefull that metabones releases a GH4 focused wider speed booster that is optically better or as good as the orginal. A speed booster that it is good enough for 4K and works well with the highest end lenses (Sigma art35mm, 85mm etc). I know the current one may be good enough allready but i have no experience from it.

Hands-on preview of the powerful 4K shooting Panasonic GH4!
Brellivids replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I hope the price for the camera is 1500 euros and I may get it new. The price for the box would be reasonable at 1000€ -
Dear Panasonic. :) This new GH4 seems great and I bet that many of us indie folk and others thank you for listening. Since you may soon find out with strong sales of the GH4 it's smart bussiness to listen. The next camera you could and should do is an improved version of GH4 but with more video work in mind. Make it so that it does not have a handle but a handle is removable and comes in the package as standard. Then make a link that enables two of the cameras to be synchronized via cable or connector for 3D-work. This would mean the camera needs to have the battery under (accessible from back wall) or behind the screen and accessible from bottom. -Use the newer SD card system. -Add higer bit rates for 4K .. (100 is not alot GH4) -and more bith depth. . 12 bit would be good. (perhaps only via sata connector) -add higher frame rate. 48FPS at least for 4K .. would be great -Add an external sata connector so users can record to an SSD if the high FPS + bitdepth require too much from the SD cards. And to top it off.. If you can make a new sensor 8 K resolution or 4 K which dimensions conform to video work first and for photography second. A pure 4K / 6K resolution video sensor in micro four thirds mount would be sweet and likely less noisy.
-
If the Gh4 turns out to be good. I'll likely buy it used at 1000 euros. ;) The next standard is 120 fps 4k wanyways. HDMI 2.0 connectors etc. This GH4 is 4K beta stuff.

cameras from 2013 5d mark 3 raw and pocket are now obsolete for 4k??
Brellivids replied to odie's topic in Cameras
Id say. 1080p .. will never get obsolete. Even DVD's will never totally loose their atractiveness. After all they are allreawdy in a digital format with a nice surround sound. 4K creates harsh requirements for makeup. Content and technique is way more important than the tech part for us NOOBS. -
I have seen one comparison somewhere. The SLR has flare issues and Oly has some barrel distortion according to DXOmark review. I dont know what kind of barrel distortion the SLR magic has. Oly is harder to pull focus with. And SLR magic has no autofocus for still photography. One needs to decide what the priorities are.. Both are good in many ways.
