I’m sure about it, that is precisely what they did. They, Samsung, kept vehemently dening the shut down of the camera line, in fact, making it a circus of rumors that led those into a dead end camera. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great camera, but it’s still a dead end, especially if you bought into their eco system of lenses. Basically, they never admitted to it, so that they could dump their existing stock on hand. If that isn’t a burn, then it’s clearly, at the very least, deception.

I agree on the stills and video convergence, just look at Vincent Laforet's recent post on the RED 8K Weapon, pulling a 36mp RAW photo from that video is incredible! Tradiionalist, can call it whatever they like, machine-gunning photography, whatever, but it's all headed that direction.

Hello, I knew Andrew would not be writing a guide for this camera, so, I did! If this shameless plug is completely uncool, then by all means delete it. I'm just trying to get some traction on this ebook that took a lot of time and effort to write! The guide is pretty much driven to the photographer that owns the X Pro 2, and is wanting to learn about the video side of the camera. I don't know about you, but I've seen nothing from the X-T2 that really impresses me at all. That's not to say it's a bad camera, but in my opinion, from what I've seen, my Fuji Xpro2 has a better video image! And for those that own the Xpro2, I've talked with Fujifilm N.J., and they told me the crushed black level video recording is a known issue that has been passed along to Japan, whether they will firmware fix that is anyone's guess. If any of you are interested in having the Xpro2's highllight tone, shadow tone, color, sharpness, noise reduction, grain effect, enabled to the video capture, they told me sending an email to the Fujifilm HQ's Japan helps a lot in possibly getting that released. You can send that email from the Fujifilm global website!

Yeah, I kinda agree, I haven't seen anything impressive at all, in fact, it amazes me Fuji never put this camera into the hands of a DP to produce something that kicked ass! Maybe this camera has no kick ass, although it is still in beta. Below is a frame grab from a recent shoot with my Fuji XPro2, and in my opinion I haven't seen an image from the X-T2 that touches that image! And yes, that's SOOC.

After all, it IS video! But, I know what you mean. Personally, I'm impressed with the Xpro2's image, at this price point, expectations should be a given. Something better would fall into the arena of RED, or ARRI cameras, and their price points reflects that image quality.

DOF between the two staying the same, I guess sounds reasonable, but the low-light, I've always read that the bigger the megapixels the lower the light sensitivity the camera is because the bigger pixel gathers more light. So a bigger sensor with bigger mega pixels equates to a lower-light sensitive camera. At least that's what was explained to me by a Shane Hurlbut in one of his Canon 5D MarkII talks! Although, I may have misunderstood his explanation!

Mattias, a Fuji sales rep, now that's funny! I know he posts some interesting and informative videos on various cameras, but a sales rep....I don't think so!! Nope, wasn't me, probably another smart-ass, like yourself, that too is a know-it-all! Hows that for blowing up?

Now that is great news! I can only hope Fuji will also release these setting to the video on the Xpro2!

Should work? Well, they don't work in the Xpro2, so it woudn't surprise me if the aren't enabled, as that hasn't been confirmed one way or another that I've heard of. I think it's a given anyone buying the camera would rather have it record the F-LOG internally as opposed to having that as an HDMI output function only.

Whatever! I'm not about to argue with all the fancy terminology and all the vast knowledge that is set forth in these posts, because it's not like you, me, or anyone else on this forum is doing anything earth shatteirng in the film industry. Call it what you want Dynamic duo range, Batman and Robin color space, I don't give a shit! This site is ALMOST as bad as No Film School, in terms of everybody is a know-it-all, and everyone else is a dumb ass!

I don't think the film simulations are over-rated at all, they add a whole new dimension to the JPEG output, especially the Acros simulations. On the video side the simulations are a bit over-saturated because the Xpro2, for whatever reason, crushes the blacks on the video recorded image. I can't speak for the X-T2 if this camera also has the same crushed black issue. Of course, this issue is just a matter of raising the blacks, mids, and lowering the highlights. What isn't mentioned in any post I've read on the X-T2 is whether the image tweaks are enabled for video, they aren't on the Xpro2, which would make a huge difference in off-setting the simulations. Those being: Highlight tone, Shadow tone, Color, Sharpness, and Noise reduction controls. Exactly!

I understand, it's all good! The bottom line here is it's ridiculous to even bicker about technology that is absolutey incredible. ALL these cameras have what it takes to go out and create something pretty awesome! I've also seen the this mentioned, and have seen the youtube link, BUT that Fuji rep isn't saying the F-LOG is HDMI out only, he never mentions that F-LOG is disabled internally. So, although that may be true, in my opinion, it isn't confirmed, at least not that I have seen definitively.

Better is relative to the user! I think the film simulations are cool, well, I know they're cool because I have the Xpro2, and yes, cool! Personally, I think for video, the Panasonic GH5 would be the better camera, however, I don't think the GH5 can beat Fuji's color science, and, I don't think any camera manufacturer beats Panasonic's reliablility, they seem to never have issues with their cameras!!

4k is a resolution animal, so it's overly sharp by it's own nature. These are all things that are easily dialed to taste. As far as dynamic range, in my experience, it has the same dynamic range as any of the 8bit 4-2-0 capture codecs, which is practically all the DSLR/DSLM cameras.

I have to agree with this, although the Samsung NX1 is kaput in the manufactures support, it's still a pretty amazing camera, and yes, it was way ahead of it's time. The biggest problem for the NX1 was it's acceptance by enough end users, which is why Samsung dumped it. Since the NX1, many cameras have tried to emulate it, the A6300 is a good example. True, the NX1 is far from perfect, nothing is perfect, but the camera will produce one helluva 4k image, that is undeniable!

I think it's a nice 4k image, but I still would take my NX1 over the X-T2, at this point. That opinion may change as it's still way to early yet. I do own the Xpro2, and I love the 1080p image! It will be interesting to see if Fuji releases the 4k to the Xpro2, I can't think of any reason why they shouldn't, they, Fuji, should let owners enjoy the capability of the camera.

I don't think it is the wrong wording. I've owned this camera now for just over a month, and all the video has crushed black and mid tones. Why do I say crushed, well if you look at a Xpro2 clip in FCPX you'll notice the black level is below zero, and that the blacks clips at -5 NOT zero. The Xpro2 clips sits right on -5, anything lower than that smashes to a white line. So, all Xpro2 clips need to be raised to proper levels, it's not that you're gaining any more information in the blacks than any other camera is shooting presently. I know there has been talk, well actually a wish, that Fuji release 4K capability to this camera in FW. I've seen several talks from Fuji reps, and I can say with certainty, that ain't going to happen. I agree with Fuji, although it could shoot 4K quite easily, the camera body design would create a heat issue, so it's a matter to them as to why create problems. What I do wish Fuji would release in FW to the Xpro2 is to enable the Shadow Tone, Highlight Tone, Color, Sharpness, Noise Reduction, and Film Grain all to the video side of the camera, as it sits now, all of these controls are defeated upon video recording.

I have downloaded the horse track clips, I was asking for just a few more clips to have a look-see. Mattais, have you bought this camera, or thinking about buying it?

Thank you for that, Fuzz! Any chance of seeing a few more clips from your camera? There really isn't a whole lot professionally shot with the xPRO2 that I've been able to find on the Internet. Mid-May, I'm pulling the trigger on this and I won't bother you anymore!

I agree, some of the video I have seen from the Xpro2 is pretty incredible, and I really haven't seen terrible aliasing. The 5DMarkII had a lot of aliasing as well, but many made it work! I'm so on the fence with this camera for video production, I love the image, but the question is will Fuji support the video side of the Xpro2 with firmware updates. I really don't care about it having 4K capability, but unleashing a few of it's other features for video would be outstanding!

I highly doubt that will happen with the Xpro2. Reading up on Fuji, they are big time traditionalist, to the point, that even having video capability within one of their cameras is against the grain. In my opinion, I really don't think they care much about having 4K capability within one of their cameras. Fuji is all about the photographer and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

That has nothing to do with the camera freezing up. I believe that FW update was prior to this freeze bug, although I could be wrong.

Can't pull the trigger on this Fuji XPro2 till Fuji fixes the on/off bug. Don't know if any of you have had this issue, but apparently the camera will just freeze up, no word on if this happens during video recording. Many are losing all their custom settings having to do a hard reset by taking out the battery. Fuji has yet to acknowledge the issue, but hundreds of users aren't hallucinating this problem. Bummer!

This may be a given, but I'll ask it anyway as you never know. Is there any issues with adapting (non-Fuji) lenses to this camera? If possible, I'd love to see the final edit of your racetrack video?
