I've been playing with these new ML settings the past few days, pretty cool. Not sure its really fair to call it 4k or 5k, since its really shooting 1/3 of the Horizontal lines and then desqueezing at the end, basically anamorphic without the anamorphic lens. And lots of rolling shutter. But still a very nice image, and for $160 (what I paid for my camera recently) insane deal.

I dont understand these comments about the X-T3 feeling like it could fall apart. Ive owned tons of Fuji’s as well as Panasonics, Sonys and Nikons, ove never felt the Fuji were somehow cheaply made. I think this is just becoming troll central.

I had the little Osmo camera for a week, it sucked. The gimbal part was ok, as was the active tracking when it worked correctly, but the sensor itself was awful- every shot, something was either blown out or too dark.

How do you have some graded HDR test clips shot from the X-T3 when the firmware enabling HLG HDR recording hasn't come out yet? Also, why not just export from Resolve as Prores 4444 and then convert to 10bit h265 in something like Handbrake? That's what I do.

It needs to be sub $900 to be cheaper than Leica? A brand new M10 is $7000, a used one goes for $6000. Even an old, underwhelming m8 goes for, at best, $1500 these days. What are you talking about? I'm not saying that this is going to compete with an M10 of course, but where is your number coming from? Several camera brands already offer this automatic uploading of photos to the phone (Sony has for years, and if I remember correctly, Panasonics can do it too). I never used it bc it seems dumb, a good way to drain your phone quickly and always jpgs, no raw. I like how you refer to evf as 'traditional' when compared to an optical vf! People spend thousands on Leicas that don't have evf or, in some cases, screens. I don't think this is aimed at the average soccer mom or dad who would be happy with an A6500. This is for someone who actually loves rangefinder cameras. People don't buy an X100 so that they can use its efv.

Well, I don't believe I was ever able to play back, in real-time, my GH5 400Mbps H264 files either, pretty much every 4K file I've ever had from all my GAS cameras has had to be optimized/proxied/prerendered in order to edit, it not an unusual step to have to take. I can remember having to do it in FCP 1.0 with miniDV footage as well. If people's Resolves or Premieres are crashing from footage, they're probably either using cracked versions or there's something wrong with their computers or gfx cards.

All these complaints are dealing with aging computers.

I'm just scared of what it'll look like in two months

Anyone else with the silver version notice how easily it seems to scratch? I've only had a few weeks and just noticed two scratches in different spots on the top end, have no idea how they got there. Never had anything like this on any other cameras I've had. I'm guessing this 'Silver' is different than the X-T1 and X-T2 'Graphite Silver'?

Can I have the 1D when you're done there?
-
Are you using the free version of Resolve or Studio? The free version doesn't have H.264/HEVC acceleration which may be a cause? Either way, I know thats not what you're asking about

I don't get it, you are trying to export a kind of proxy from Resolve so that you can then edit the footage? Why not edit in Resolve? I have Resolve 15 on my laptop as well (i5, gtx1060, Dell i7577-5241BLK-PUS) and I'm able to 'generate optimized media' which allows playback of the footage in the editor (sometimes I have to switch to half or quarter res), but it skips the step of having to pre-render proxy footage. Or am I missing something? GPU error sounds like something is wrong with your computer, not the footage.

Ahh, I didn't realize that, aside from assigning it to a button, the lock WB has its own setting in the menu that needs to be set. Toggle on!
-
Really? Ok I guess I'm an idiot, I'll try again. Maybe it's bc I assigned it to the AFL button.
-
I didn't know that, I'm gonna check it out now, thanks. Just played with it, super convenient- I wish there was a way to have it toggle on and off rather than having to hold the button down until you're finished recording. But def better than nothing.

Are you using Resolve? Premiere? Don't they all pretty much offer some way to prerender/create optimized footage? I use Resolve and do that, or I just set to quarter resolution and my i5 laptop can play that back in realtime, good enough to edit, then grade at full res. I noticed some changes the first day I had it, but it didn't seem crazy. I've made a point to just set the WB for video since then.

I was about to go out and buy a new card for the video (I already have a 32GB UHS-II card, but wanted something bigger for video). So I tried my old SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB, which is only rated V30, but so far it's worked like a champ with 4000Mbps All-I, no hiccups.

Which speedbooster did you get, btw?

I am. I really miss the awesome stabilization of the GH5, but just find the color and low light ability better. And as was pointed out, I wasn't thrilled with the GH5's tracking ability. (That may be more in terms of shooting stills than video though, as I tend to shoot video in manual).
-
I went from the GH5 to the X-T3 (with a brief fling with an RX1Rm2 in between) and I think the GH5's touch screen is way more responsive than the Fuji. The Fuji is fine, but there have been times where I try to use the screen to change the focus point while looking through the VF and it doesn't always respond, which isn't something I ever experienced with the GH5.

Or the X-T4 for that matter, right? Just a few more years for either.
