  1. Do they have a 1080p version? Shoot 1080p raw for 75 mbs lol.
  2. Sincerely is that still relevant. I was just going to say that with the amount of Camera coming with 10 bit etc.... and then I saw the blackmagic raw. Why would someone bother with it. I mean 10 bit log video will be good enough for 95% of shooting, now with blackmagic Raw which could be implemented in the P4k, the hassle, reliability, large file size etc... makes this just moot for any filmmaker.
  3. I can't see datarate, it only says 5x smaller.
  4. I didn't know that, I shoot mainly 1080 DNXHD 145 mbit 8bit with my Ninja and it must be about 60 GB per hour. I don't know if they have 1080p version of the raw, but it would be less than 8bit prores/dnxhd. I could be shooting RAW and save space, I am stunned. So what are the RAW bitrate in the C200. Compression is always very processor intensive, Raw uncompressed is really easy because the camera is already reading from the sensor, compression is another processing, you have to take that data and run a bunch of algorithm in real time to compress that. Its like when you render your timeline and it is compressed to some format and the amount of processor and GPU we use to speed it up.
  5. With the Canon he would look like an alien LOL. Anything about autofocus, I also saw somewhere where you could either join the two setting photo/video or separate them. But his gripe is typical photo shooter centric, because any hybrid shooter would know that you would have to have an ND filter (or close aperture) and shoot at 1/50 -1/60 for video. You can't expect to have quality video if you just switch your 1/200-2000 photo shutter speed setting and shoot video.
  6. They want to promote the z7 for now because they are delivering now. One person said that they had a z6 on show at one of the Nikon meeting but they could not use it because the Rep said it's firmware was still in beta, in some way it makes some sense, they must be putting all their effort in the z7 for the imminent launch.
  7. WOW if you can shoot 4k for 1 hour that would be revolutionary. I hope someone or blackmagic gives us the bitrate.
  8. It might not be for the sensor, but if it make the scene less contrasty then it is technically making the sensor recording more from the shadows to the highlight. Same as using older less contrasty lens.
  9. I don't understand german and only rely on translation, but this guy has been doing some of the best test of the z7.
  10. Perhaps, a stop more, it would put it between, 12 to 14 stop depending different people measurement. Again the 10 bit and LOG format would put these format in the high-end shoot that needs to have some serious grading and would be really necessary for 10% shoots. The other 90%, will be more than enough with 8bit(I somewhat would have loved internal 10 bit) and Flat profile.
  11. I think Nikon thinks that Flat as Canon Clog with its 12 stop DR is about the best you can fit in a 8 bit file. I have seen example where the Nikon flat profile compared favorably with Clog and one of the members here did a test against the BMCC with its 13 stop DR. The strange thing is than Nikon claims the NLOG is only 12 stop. For me they are very very conservative in communication like with the fiasco of the battery life. They could have said 600-1000 photos (it is even more) from normal use and then write 300 cipa in small LOL. It would have been much closer to reality and not some folks who have never use the camera or only use it for 2 hours at the launch running arround claiming everywhere that it is only 300 photos. There was a Nlog file posted and it looked very very clean at 800 iso, perhaps they are measuring at very very low level of noise in the shadows.
  12. I was going to post that video, for me what it also shows is what I would call normal panning and how it works for rolling shutter. If we make abstraction about the fast shutter speed look, its looks ok to me and more encouraging for the lower megapixel z6.
  13. So only one bar used after one hour of shooting in 1080p 50. o only
  14. Review in german, perhaps someone could summerise it for us. From what I understood from the translation is that IBIS worked really great for video and the most important no overheating in very hot condition. view
  15. It did not occur to you that it was a guy with zero video shooting knowledge like the 180 degree rule etc, who just posted a master piece like below. Event the cat shooters would be ashamed of that.
  16. This channel has a whole series of test, some I would call torture test of the focus, low light etc. This is in video and photo mode. For me this is beyond the level I think I would use it. I don't know how other MILC autofocus work but for me it is quite impressive. As a Nikon user it is a dream come true. So impatient to get a z6, the Nikon image was already so good, now getting all the goodies like great video autofocus, ibis etc will make it a killer system. I hope they rapidly get some apsc version and not leave it to the higher end version.
  17. Nikon said the Z6 will do full sensor readout while z7 will do line skipping in full frame. It doesn't ,ean the z7 will be bad in video, in fact everything point out it will be very good, but things like rolling shutter might be better on z6, because it is much faster to read 25 megapixel than 45 ones.
  18. I wouldn't even consider the z7 for hybrid or video shooters. I would go for the Z6, even Nikon stated that the Z6 was more appropriate for video. Amazing autofocus AF in low light in my opinion, well above my own personal use. I think for video it should be the same as photo as they share the same system.
  19. Yep I would like to see it tested, it could act a bit like an inbuilt HDR mode with the flat profile enabled. More so as N log can only be used at ISO 800, which will need some serious NDs.
  20. Yes all these people criticism about the lens lineup, while most of them are using second hand vintage lens on their camera and so many are complaining because they can't adapt their existing lens to XYZ camera. If they were that rich to buy 1.5 - 2k primes, I think it should not have been a problem to re buy all lens line up. If someone can tell me the advantage in film making between a 1.8 and 1.4/1.2 lens, I am really curious. Perhaps they have fun shooting 90% of the time there subject out of focus. Don't you have a way to let him post but be invisible to every one. He would still think that he is posting and no one would be responding, a troll worst nightmare. The guy doesn't contribute anything to this forum, he says he has zero interest in the Nikon but continuously post on them.
  21. That guy is a troll, don't loose your time on him, as you already seen he has zero knowledge or knowingly spouting non sense to get some attention. Someone calling Nikon D850 sensor old tech, says it all. He says he has zero interest in the Nikon but continuously comment on them. As for the Mavic pro 2, it has a sensor at least 8 times smaller than the all these MILC and has 4 rotor than must be the largest/loudest camera fan in the world.
  22. You get a clue, every reviewer has said that the AF works the same as on native Fmount camera, it is even weather sealed. Now the AF system is quite different in use than traditional Nikon system, so some who have only used it for 1 hour might have got it wrong, but if it failed or had quirks, it affected both system. Dpreview even makes the bold claim (at least until the Canon eosR) that the z7 had the best video AF period. Or perhaps if you spent a week with the camera you could tell us your experience !!! At least two people have tested sigma art lens with the adapter and it worked as good as on traditional Fmount camera. I am realistic, given the history of Nikon and Canon, I don't expect them to share their new lens mount as they cover all the range and contrary to Sony and M4/3 (M4/3 is by nature open) they had some catch up to do, so they willingly open theirs. I personally don't care because I can use a ton of the lens we have in the Fmount range and I guess it will be the same for a lot of Nikon users. In fact I am grateful that gave that choice so I don't have to change system overnight and don't feel pressured at all to invest thousands to renew my lens collection. It give me time to upgrade at my rhythm and need as time goes by and I see where the Z or F mount evolve. They also published their lens roadmap, and 90% of peoples need will be filled in one year. As a Nikon user, I have been very critical about the video side of Nikon cameras even if image wise it was very good, the rest was bad compared to the competion. In the mean time I bought a canon 7d then a gh2 until I got my D750. I have even been tempted by the A73 at the start of the year even if I dislike Sony zombie colors. But credit where credit is due, Nikon has done a great job for video, it is still the only FF camera with 10 bit 422 LOG capable until now. If tomorrow Panasonic brings out a FF gh5 with super AF, I would recommend it over the Z6 for about the same price, I will recommend it to anyone who is not tied to any legacy lens system. By the way, I don't give a shit about your need, its a forum, a place for people to share but not spout nonsence about low info people that live only on sound bite and don't take 5 minutes to do some research and share something constructive to the group. I think Sony has no way than to go 10 bit and even internal by 2020. With Nikon and now Canon offering it, it would be crazy for them not to. I think the next step by 2020 will be 4k 60p and 10 bit internal for FF MILC cameras. If else it would be suicide, I don't see anyone now moving from Nikon moving to them. Canon I am not sure with the a bit underwhelming EOS R spec. But either way, no more free lunch for them in the FF MILC market. Yep, video is becoming at the age of maturity in the DSLR/MILC market cameras and spec won't move that much as in photography. It will only be incremental , but the cameras will be so good that if you can't do nice video with them, it is your fault and not the camera. Until Pana lauch its FF camera, this round I would give to Nikon in the FF MILC and if rummors turn out true about Fuji, the Fuji for the Apsc MILC.
  23. What is mediocre about 80 lens line up + 100 more third party and if you want you can adapt almost any other lens brand because it has the smallest flange. Before talking such nonsence people should take 5 second and inform themselves so as not to look like a fool. And tell me what should have the fanboys have wanted that much more than great body and sealing, great/best evf, FF DX 4k, 120 fps fhd, IBIS, great video AF and 10 bit/nlong with my Ninja flame. All of that for $ 2000? Tell me another camera that does that much for this price nowwwwwwwwwwwww, and not some mythical camera that will come in the future and at this price. Because lets be clear the A73 just came out 6 month ago and I don't think it will be upgraded to A74 for at least a year.
  24. Just asking, do you have some kind of aversion to Nikon. I mean nearly everything you are asking for is on the z6 for about same price as the eos R.
