Thank you! That's the idea ?

Thanks, those words mean a lot. Sadly I won’t be able to do as music videos as a flagship anymore because of ever-reducing budgets. So I’ll be doing branded video work as my main income, with music videos the passion projects. Hit me up whenever about anything, cool. There’s RED footage and BM footage that didn’t make it - just down to content quality. Thanks for the encouraging words too. Thank you!

Thanks - enough words for me.

Hey Everyone, Here’s a bunch of stuff I’ve shot, graded and edited for music videos between 2012-2018. The shots in the reel not done by me are the drone shots. For you camera nerds, I used...... Sony FS700, FS5, FS7, F55, A7SII, A6500. Panasonic GH3, GH5. DJI X3, X5R.

When I first read EOSHD I had no idea what people were talking about. People going on about this 4:2:2 and other confusing stuff. It’s a more animated forum than elsewhere. It’s more diverse. More honest. Everyone seems happy to help.

How wide and fast can we get on the 100fps HD mode? Big crop that. Looking at MFT and APS-C lenses with Speedbooster XL.
-
Yeah, I think we should get this back on track. Always here for support if required! From what I've seen so far, I'll be keeping my BMPC4k pre-order, and use it alongside my newly acquired EVA1 (with the GH5 still massively involved - it's still the best in it's class). I doi actually sorta fear the BMPC4k will beat the EVA1's optimal quality though! (So many £££). What's the most ideal USB-C device you've seen in the wilderness?

Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??
Oliver Daniel replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Seems pretty good, but something about that footage makes objects and people in the scene look like wax models and toys. For instance, the edge sharpness looks very "edge", lending to this toy-like look I'm trying to describe. -

The company have now put out a video claiming 16 stops of DR on their Facebook group. -
I’ve been asked many, many times to do blog / Youtuber stuff - I honestly could never find the time or do something that was passionate and different to the rest. So it’s amazing that you’ve kept up a unique blog for this long, without “selling out”. FWIW, I filmed consistent videos for a record label for 4-5 years, they were happy with every video, and then stopped sending through treatment calls. I asked “why?” and they said “we can only afford a videographer from now on”. If I never asked I thought I’d been snubbed completely! You could ask BM their reasons and something may come out of it. (If they ignore you, get a BM Pocket 4k, go to the Three Gin bar in Manchester, get absolutely wasted, film a camera test and write your blog. All there and then.?)
-
Damn, how did I not know about this? Manchester is a small world for this industry. Everyone knows everyone and their dog sorta thing!

Says a lot about their C-line! (but if they did release such a camera,,everyone would go nuts!) Why is the C700 like a bazooka? Barely anyone wants a camera that big. The much less expensive Kinefinity Mavo does 6k slow motion RAW in a tiny box, but with the C700 you have to make it even BIGGER just to get some RAW? While most are bitchin’ about the mirrorless and DSLR’s, the C series isn’t exactly worth protecting anyway!

The problem for me is the lack of OIS lenses, otherwise, this looks awesome.

If Canon could match what I now have with Panasonic, I’d be a Canon shooter. What Sony and Panasonic have done is create an ecosystem of cameras that work together, for different roles on a shoot e.g (Somy FS5 > A7SII > A6500). They all have Slog. They all have E-mount. Canon on the other hand do not have this ecosystem. The XC10 and 5D are hardly streamlined with C-series. The C-series today barely has the pull it once did. Look at the C700. An expensive bazooka the price of 5 Ursa Mini Pro’s with no internal RAW. So is this a case of Canon not having the resources? When you look at the C200, this camera is crippled in one key area intentionally but has a feature the C700 doesn’t? (internal RAW). To me, the whole thing is a baffling mystery - but the sales show Canon shouldn’t be worried. Their brand is very strong. I’d say Canon could create whatever camera they damn please, but as they are selling better than anyone, why should they increase R&D when they don’t need to? I think if they really had to (such as losing huge market share), they would. But right now, they probably don’t. Not yet.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Oliver Daniel replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I think the new mount might be an adapter type mount, like the Kinemount. Such as releasing an EF adapter, M43 and Leica SL. Could be completely wrong though. But I do think EF will be heavily involved somewhere. -
Is EOSHD some sort of parody name now? ? If you did change the name, what would you call it? How about EOS4KCROP?
-
No, because the C700 is like a bazooka and cameras a fraction of its price can match or even exceed it’s performance. Canon still don’t have an answer to the FS7 after 4 years. The C300 II was undercooked and Sony took the rental market for that segment off them (at least in the UK). I’m not a Canon basher, I just wish they’d stop being so boring. I love the Canon look, the reliability and ease of use, the lenses. My wife’s Canon stills are simply beautiful and in comparison destroys the colour in my videos. They do have a strong brand which gets them loads of sales. But it’s perfectly clear now though, that Canon are falling more and more behind with video by their less than ideal decisions. They need to be more creative and innovate for video users. DPAF and colour science USP’s won’t last forever when the competition are so, so close behind.

I can see it in 4 years time... Panasonic, Sony and (maybe) Fuji all release full frame 8k cameras with 6k 100fps, great AF, 10 bit 4:2:2, no crop etc (and they cook your dinner and brush your hair). Canon FINALLY announce the EOS-R Mk. II with a world first internal full frame RAW!! (but the RAW is 720p only and doesn't work with DPAF. It will only work in higher res if you're filming a cow or a sheep on Sunday afternoons). ???
-
Wow. Now this is how you make a hybrid. In a lot of ways, the EOS R pales in comparison. Might make this a “personal purchase” on the basis I exceed financial results with pro work. Always loved Fuji images.

Bloody hell Canon. What a complete load of crap for video users. Even Fuji is ahead of Canon for video in a compact form factor. Glad to be sticking with Panasonic!

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Oliver Daniel replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I've pretty much committed my camera future to Panasonic now with an EVA1 on it's way! So I'm excited to see what we have in store for this FF. -
For video production, this camera would be a poor choice and it’s evident very little effort has been put into the video features. Even Fuji is now eclipsing Canon for video in this segment. Wow. Also the top end C-series is very underwhelming considering what else is on offer. It’s probably best to forget your dreams of owning a Canon for video to cover most of your bases. The choice elsewhere doesn’t disappoint.

Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless talk hots up
Oliver Daniel replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Looks like a pretty boring camera for video. Typical Canon. Great for Vloggers. -
Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Oliver Daniel replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I think the tricky thing here is that Panasonic have the GH5 and GH5S as ideal companions to the EVA1. Does the introduction of a full frame mirrorless for possibly a bit more money eclipse their M43 GH cams? How would they significantly differentiate it? Surely they wouldn’t cannibalise their popular M43 system. What will they do so you want both a GH5 and GH FF? Canon, although still rocking those sales, have been behind since the tepid answer to the FS7 in the C300 II (probably the most overpriced and dissaponting camera ever released). Their colour science and DPAF is going to lose steam as a USP. All in all, I hope Panasonic smash it.
