  1. All of them, whoever he decides to be. Video message would be great though. How hard can it be?
  2. I think a critical request is missing here. As crazy as this all seems - there is still a chance that "Ebrahim Sadaawi" could of been robbed on the street and someone is "playing" him without his knowledge. He could of been kidnapped for all we know. Maybe not. One thing that would put the theories to rest would be a genuine video message from ES to EOSHD, about what has happened and what he is doing/has done to fix the situation. He's making films and has made his own lights, so he's fully capable of doing this right? And it would take about half an hour tops? My opinion: He's a clever kid whose made a big mistake, and also needs to see a Doctor as soon as possible. Video message though?
  3. The breathtaking part of this though is how consistent, knowledgable and prolific "Ebrahim Jnr" has been. Quite stunning really. Crazy achievement. I'm disappointed to see though, despite everything, this entire thread contains aliasing and moire. Can't have everything.
  4. Hi Ed, I wrote that post during the time he confessed, so I didn't know. Good to him for being brave. I hope everything will be ok.
  5. edit: (there's a confession posted during the time I wrote this) Just remembered something of moral... 3 years ago, a new "production company" arrived on the scene in Manchester and started casting for new feature films. They would meet actors for upcoming roles and promise them an attractive fee. Some of the actors (that I knew) gave up their full time jobs to star in these new films. The "director" had a very impressive CV. He'd "directed" many UK TV series and assistant directed Hollywood features. His photo gallery was full of pictures of him standing by huge rigged-up RED cameras and pics exclusive "visits" to Media City UK. His website had a "members area". Kevin Spacey was on it, among others. This got very fishy as the company didn't meet their deadlines, and production work was always delayed. One day, I bought a GH3. I posted a picture online because I was happy. A guy who I didn't know called me a "cock-eyed little freak" for buying a GH3. Apparently this guy was from London, married, kids. He worked at Pinewood Studios as a gaffer. But his style of writing was very strange and quite frankly, poor! I looked into it. I found that the writing style matched other "filmmaker" profiles I was friends with. Lots of mutual friends. I did some digging, and found out this "production company" was a taxi driver who conned people into signing up for roles in his company. All the profiles were fake and made up to gain peoples trust in him... "word of mouth". I found a trailer he made. It was a Windows Movie maker slideshow for a horror film with loads of spelling mistakes. The findings were posted on Facebook, and it blew up! People were furious as this guy had effectively ruined their careers. They gave up their jobs and got nothing back. From what I know, he was reported to Equity and the Police - and the guy is banned for life for working with actors or anything similar in the industry. He had to pay legal damages. It was printed somewhere in an Equity magazine - to avoid him at all costs. It would of been much better for this guy if he admitted his mistakes (once found out) and took steps to contact the employers of these actors and explain the situation. He should of admitted he was a fraud and what he would do to fix it. He didn't. he cowered into a corner, told more lies and then starting being abusive. He even sent his fellow cast death threats. And now he's ruined. I've shared this, just as a pointer to this forum and Ebrahim. People can be scammed easily into believing in someone, but you're dealing with intelligent people here. If you show a few cracks, it's over. Just sort it out.
  6. Incredible. I always had the impression Ebrahim Snr was the main user of the account, due to the impressive knowledge, warm and fairness of his comments. It really didn't match this 19 year old beginner/noob thing. Did Ebrahim really go to all this effort of posting very helpful information for 3 years - just to gain the trust of an online community and scam them for just a bit of money? Baffling. Absolutely baffling. I'd do this: 1. Submit a video message of yourself and your Grandfather together. 2. Submit some of your portfolio work and any proof of directing credits. 3. Submit any websites/imagery of your media company - behind the scenes? Projects? Anything? If I was convicted of being a scammer, I could do all the above in 20 minutes. It would go a long way to actually show us you're a genuine person who is in fact says who he is. Myself, like most other people, don't want to mix with anybody involved in criminal activity. All other forum topics are dying because of this thread being stuck at the top. I feel sorry for Andrew. It's not fair. Let's clean this up, nice and fairly, shall we?
  7. This sounds a little bombastic, but to settle peoples mind on this forum... Ebrahim Jnr should post a video message with Ebrahim Senior explaining the situation and what will be done to rectify it. That will help with all these conspiracy theories. Also it would be good to see some genuine portfolio work from you both. You have enormous knowledge and seem to have tried a lot of cameras + lenses. Surely you have some material shot? Integrity and trust is important, even in an internet community. We share our knowledge, our work, our contact details, offer gear for sale... I'd hope that a community such as this is no place for scamming and telling lies. I hope the people involved have this rectified so topics about filmmaking can flourish more.
  8. I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but the style of writing reads quite different to Ebrahim Senior in this post. Some of the grammar is poor, and I've known Ebrahim to be consistently very well written. For all you guys know, this could be Junior or somebody else easily. For those who've been stung by the scam and had the trust breached, the right thing would be to request a video message to the forum so you know those words are legit, and that you'll get your money back. I'd personally never buy or sell anything of value from/to an African country. The amount of Internet scams from there are through the roof. I feel sorry for the good people who do what's right.
  9. Check these: Lupolux Dual Color LED's (650, 1000, 2000). Blind Spot Gear Scorpion Lights. Aputure Light Storm. Brightcast V-15 Flexible. I'd also invest in a master collection of styling and correction gels, diffusers, reflectors, bounce cards, crocodile clips, gaffa.... all very useful bits and bobs.
  10. Thanks Aaron. Got myself one of these with the Aputure LS1-C and 2 V-locks.
  11. Well I've just done it. Got hold of a DJI Inspire 1 RAW with the Osmo. Madness.
  12. I personally think FCPX is more advanced and built for the future (compared to PP). It's rather intuitive, but simplified approach is often mistaken by amazing software development. It's an editor that helps you work faster, better and more fluid. There's more time for creativity, rather than battling error messages and slow responses. I don't care less what people edit on, however the negativity usually aimed at FCPX is no longer totally justified. It's come on a long, long way and works brilliantly. Early haters should try again.
  13. In every one of my local rental houses in the UK... all of them have said the C300 II is never getting asked for. One of them even sold off their C300 II's. My primary rental house, Provision, said that they've had to buy more FS7's as it's BY FAR the most requested camera now. I feel more are going for the FS7 because of 4k60p and the much better slow motion options. Canon really missed the boat there with the C300 II. The massive price decrease of the C300 II isn't a coincidence. That said, I enjoy using the original C300. It's a very simple, no frills, always works kinda camera. It will be interesting to look at the used market for the C300 II in a year or so.
  14. I perceive this attractive "motion candence" in cameras that shoot raw. Maybe because the image feels "complete" and compression takes away a lot of the motion anyway. It's subjective but those of us with more than an eye can spot it. Then on top there's: - 24/25p 180 degree shutter. - Fast shutter readout. - High dynamic range (smoother roll of frames). Lovely cadence: Alexa, RED, D16, BMCC (raw), Kinefinity, Varicam LT, Canon 5d ML Medium Cadence: Canon C series, Sony F55, FS7 (only just), X5R. Poor Cadence: All Sony mirrorless, FS5, Panasonic GH and AF, any cheap mirrorless, GoPro, DJI X3 and X5.
  15. I'm in the UK and the price of gear here is extortionate. Don't expect the price to go down, it will go up by as much as 15%. I've already received an email from a UK supplier saying some products will go up by 5% already. Stick to the US Ed!
  16. The difference is that if Aperture was against Lightroom in a boxing ring, then Lightroom would knock out Aperture with a single blow. With FCPX vs Premiere, it would be a fight to the death.
  17. These two are very different cameras. If it's low-end doc/interview/corporate work, C100. Narrative/music video/commercials... Ursa Mini 4.6k. Although I'd wait a year for it to mature as there are issues. Terra looks brilliant too.
  18. The arrow buttons on my A7SII get a bit jammed, and you have to press them hard to make them work sometimes. Battery life percentage is weird. It will be 100%, switch it off, then turning back on it will be like 43%. Then it will die in 5 mins. Other than that, no issues at all.
  19. Well, I've managed to bag a cut price Inspire 1 v2. Lots and lots of practice required for the commercial Iicense. Will definately be getting the Osmo with X5R too, likely within the month. Now I'm broke!
  20. Sorry what? FCPX will spit in my face? I've been using it since 2012 and I have to say it's been an absolutely awesome pleasure to use, They have really improved the editing experience and I feel I can work much faster and have more time to be creative. I happen to run a business with FCPX. I don't need Premier Pro because I choose to work successfully with FCPX. The negativity towards it is getting a bit tiring now. It works, and it works amazingly well for many professionals. It's strange that people would be upset with that.
  21. I do think it's going to happen. The temptation is too strong..... I'll be getting the X3 as well as the X5R, could be useful for odd bits and bobs. The data is pretty scary and the SSD price. I am also hot on the trail for the Kinefinity Terra. I'm looking to pair this up with the Osmo. If it's good that is Going all out to make my kit much smaller, portable yet still very high end. I'm more into the gimbal. I'll likely use it like crazy. Some people criticise the price, but I think the overall benefits make it worth it. Balancing doesnt seem to be "a thing" with this setup, the software is programmed to know the recommended lens, and an ND filter will only take a slight adjustment. DJI gimbals are solid are very responsive.
  22. It's an awful test. Never trust the Internet. I've sold my Ronin-M so I'm a step closer to getting the Osmo Raw. Now looking to sell off my Kino Flo Diva kit, as my lights are all now battery operated. The only thing holding me back is the SSD's. Ridiculous pricing. Even getting just an extra one is steep.
