Well the cams are getting old, there should be a d760 and a d820 coming in september or so. If you just need video the d5300 is a good choice I think.

The funny thing is that if the mid-range camera offerings were the problem, we all know they could change that in no time (not holding off the last few things you could add). The problem I see in stills is that the 5D mkiii is perfectly fine for 35mm. Yes, you can increase DR and lowlight, but it doesn't really change anything. 35mm is almost maxed out. So if they add what we are asking for, it's sort of game over. This is obviously an exageration, but I think there is some truth in it.

I haven't used neither, but if you want raw, it's the only option. You can always try one and if you don't like it, sell it again without loosing money, it's a cheap camera.

With a BMPCC speedbooster you get a virtual almost APS-C sized sensor 1.7x crop. So no gopro look.

Haha, how much for the fuji 23 1.4?? Pff I really want that lens and the 35 1.4 because they have rangefinder couplings (is this correct? xD) for the x-pro. I don't want a mirror, but neither do I want to stare into a screen (I have enough computer time).

It's funny because I've been looking for a fuji too for a week or so. Unless you want video, any model is fine, I guess. The lenses are great, but expensive.

The video you posted had ultra shallow DOF, it won't look like that on the G7. What lenses are you going to use?
