  1. Not exactly because the kinemini is gigantic compared to a bmpcc.
  2. The d810 will be better for both, unless the stills you want to do are above iso 200-400. The d810 has iso64 that gives the best image beside mediumformat backs. The sony a7rii has an electronic shutter mode, but I don't know if its supported with the timelapse app. Battery life and reduced dynamic range should also be kept in mind (I believe it had less DR when using electronic shutter but I might be mixing cameras here). And before I forget, some nikon lenses don't have consistent apertures, this means that between frames, when using lower aperture values, the exposure will vary and produce flickerimg. Maybe nikon has fixed this somehow, but when I was into timelapses it was something that people would run into a lot with nikon cameras.
  3. Does it use the mechanical shutter or can you choose electronic shutter (or does it have a leaf shutter, lol)
  4. Actually, you don't need a 4K capable camera at all. Any digital camera can shoot timelapse (some older models might need an external time controller). The only problem with timelapse is the mechanical shutter. These are usually rated for 100.000-300.000 shots, depending on the model. Timelapse eats through that very fast, so you might want to look into cameras with silent/electronic shutter modes. (btw, the nikon d810 has more resolution than the D5, the D5 is a camera that focuses on speed and high iso performance, contrary to the d810 that focuses on low iso DR and high resolution)
  5. Oh god, PR people using google translator.
  6. Yes, bring a BMPCC killer with 2.5k aps-c sensor
  7. That's interesting, have you tried to play with the infinity adjustment helicoid of the speedbooster and see if the problems lies there? I might eventually get one of these, and if there is sample variation I will have to buy a few and keep the best one.
  8. Have I missed something or is the d500 still recording 4k in a terrible crop mode.
  9. Rollingshutter and battery life, zak?
  10. Well, you were talking about 2.39:1. A 16:9 projector is giving 1.77:1, if you use a 2X lens (true anamorphic, like the ones used in most cinemas) you end up with 2*1.77= 3.55:1 This means you will only use 1290 pixels for the 2.39. On the other hand a 1.33x stretch lens will use the whole thing 1.33*1.77=2.35
  11. Well, with a 2X stretch you will use 1290x1080pixels vs 1920x803 letterboxed. That's 1.3mp vs 2mp. A 1.33 strech anamorphic lens is another story, I think that would look better.
  12. I tried this with a 720p 16:9 projector. The image quality was terrible, but fun. There are several problems but the main reason is that in digital projectors you have pixels with visible screendoor, even with a 1080p dlp projector you can see them (unless you project a very small image or sit far away). This isn't too problematic, but when you stretch the image 2X, you are stretching the PIXELS, so actually you will see the same resolution (unless you crop, then you will have less) because you are looking at the same pixels. But the percieved resolution will be less because the density of pixels has gone down, and the vertical pixel gaps will be much more evident.
  13. I give you my phone number, next time you call me
  14. Filters behind lenses aren't really a good idea http://www.pierretoscani.com/echo_divers2.html#presentation203
  15. I think Arri Alexa is the way to go, you just hire one of those peruvian sherpas.
  16. They could even make a hybrid camera, when the mirror stays up, a monitor inside a modified pentaprism turns on, making the camera "mirrorless".
  17. That would be great, but they should really give it a try and make a mirrorless version with EVF, it would suddenly make the A7X totally irrelevant for people with EF lenses only because of ergonomics. I guess they should have enough confidence in the double pixel AF.
  18. They say this camera has 15 stops of DR, but when I open the beach road raw samples, they are as noisy as raw files from a d700/d3 pushed 3stops in ACR at iso400...
  19. It will fit the small one, the micro. The large one doesn't have a MTF mount.
