Ed is experiencing the dangers of the countryside ^^. In NY you can blame the noise, the cost of living, the dirt,etc... On the country you will encounter your self, and it takes some time to digest.

I get dizzy everytime I have to find something in the menus on my canon 50d. I find those menus horrible. Not that nikon menus are any better.

I've been feeling the urge to take out my old drawing desk and work out my projects by hand as far as its possible before going into cad/bim. When going for a trip im trying to just go with 3 primes, the ideal thing for me would be only one prime 70mm 2.8 on a 6x7 sensor rangefinder/mirrorless.
-
I havent tried putting them on a digital camera (only the 55 2.8) but for video they should be sharp enough for shure, the 35 3.5 probably being the worst but still more than usable (its actually the most expensive in that list). The only problem might be bokeh, I once compared the mamiya 55 2.8 against some nikkors and the mamiya had very nervous bokeh (its actually a fast wide angle lens on 645, so nothing strange there) while the nikkors were perfectly smooth @2.8 (50 1.2 , 60 2.8). The 110,150,300 wont have that problem. Anyway, these lenses should give similar rendering as the nikkon zoom (not vintage, but also not super contrasty). You could always resell them if you dont like them.

These lenses are nice if you want to shoot film on a mamiya 645, for small sensor digitals they are ok but not the sharpest nor biggest aperture lenses out there. Eventually somebody comes out with a speed booster for the a7 and then that set would be very useful, until then there are a lot of better options out there like minoltas, nikkors,etc... The price is right if they are n versions (not that it really matters)

The moire filter is going to add to the cost. The video quality is very primitive and unless you want to use ml raw (not really suited for documentary) any recent camera is much better. gh3, d5200, etc... Welcome to the forum

Samsung should add a 2:35 crop mode on the NX1 to fix rolling shutter
Nikkor replied to Micah Mahaffey's topic in Cameras
The sensor reads lines (not columns). The rollingshutter skew comes from the difference in readouts between lines, so the difference lies between consecutive lines, so it doesn't matter if you skip lines on the top and on the bottom, the difference between consecutive lines will still be the same. -
Here's what a 5 stop stabiliser looks like in low light

You can get a d5200 for 400$, gh3 for a little bit more,etc... None of these have moire. -

How does the first version compare to this? -

In your video you said that you are starting to become quieter

There are just too many people being far too proactive about their own art. Too many "artists" talking about themselfs and letting the world know how much of an artist they are. Specially older people who don't get the internet, and in general wierdos. Whenever I see someone refer to himself on the internet my inner bullshit alarm starts ringing, and I know this is true for a lot of people. We all do it sometime (refer to our own person), but if it starts to get persistent you're not doing yourself a favour.

But is it 1.68x crop relative to FullFrame or to APS-C (1.68*1.54=2.58x)?

This kind of test without exposure data is not really useful, and comparing inconsistent grades is useless imho.

I think it's great and I enjoyed watching it, but you already know that (that it's great). In fact I watched it a few times, and also a few videos of people you work with and I found that you really mastered the craft of editing because everytime I watch it to learn something about what you are doing I forget about it and get drawn to "the story". Maybe I'm just retarded... It would be nice to have a 4K download to avoid the compression artifacts messing up the grain.

I was going to say the same, the nikkor seems to be a better option. It goes for less than 100$. I really like the lens, it works wonders on close distance(less than 3m).

Lol, this camera looks too good to be true, and for the price...

DP Review Gold for Sony a7S - read my Filmmaker's Perspective on page 8!

A7s is more like vista vision, not 65mm. -
Great video. The 85 1.8 is a nice lens, costs next to nothing but has good performance and is "small". But it's not AI-S, in fact it's pre-ai.

The explanation is that they would need another sensor.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's also very funny how in the "weapon" subforum this guy called Phil plays cat and mouse with grown man who are about to spend several thousand dollars on their product and probably will have to rebuy expensive accesories. Showing pictures of buttons and logos with cheesy design of a thing called weapon reminds me of my 12 years old brother getting excited about new skins for counterstrike. I recently had to laugh very hard after reading this comment on another website:
