Question about shallow depth of field and long lenses
Nikkor replied to Lasers_pew_pew_pew's topic in Cameras
The lovely look comes from the longer focal length. The focal lenth of a lens doesn't change by cropping, neither does the aperture ratio. But you can use equivalent numbers for orientation. To have the same sort of look as with a FF sensor and 200@2.8 you would need a (200,2-8)/1.6 lens which would be 125@1,75. Obviously the FF will always look better because the longer the actual focal length the better it behaves optically. I also think speedboosters aren't that great with longer focal length, at least Metabone's White Paper says so. -
Recommendations for a cheap long lens for gh4?
Nikkor replied to Lasers_pew_pew_pew's topic in Cameras
It doest have a ring to zoom, you have to push and pull the front elements to zoom. The 80-200 Af-d has two rings (you can distinguish it easily because the rings are small compared to the one gigantic ring in the push and pull versions). But that lens goes for 500€. The 80-200 (except the af-s) are said to perform a little better than the latest modern glass (therefore the price). If you decide for one of the older ones check if the front element turns around when focusing because that will be a problem with variable ND filters. Other options with sharper optics but without zoom are the 105 1.8 ai-s and the 180 2.8 ED Ai-s. -

80-200 2.8 push and pull goes for around 300€, the. nikon 200 f4 ai foraround 100€ and is excellent (but no zoom) -
Has anyone tried to put a BMPCC speedbooster into the em5 or em1?

That's not a rumor, that was just a comment.

I heard reports of people recording to their cellphone micro-sd, as long as it's at least 64gb large.

Rangefinder Zooms might be something new in the industry (specially for zeiss who aren't exactly know to be the greatest zoom lens innovators).

The whole thing makes no sense unless it's a totally different camera. They just came up with the d810 and d610. And action more like bmx and stuff like that. If it doesnt have 4k its stupid.

Nikon will present another Fullframe camera. The rumor says it will be focused on "action". Nikon currently has 3 new FF bodies that cover all the stills photography needs (d610,d810,d4s) If you read forums like dpreview you know the limited mentality and the consecuent feelings that a lot of consumers have towards video . The response to this was the nikon Df without video features, so it would make perfect sense for Nikon to release a more video/speed focused camera. I personally hope it has an oled placed inside the viewfinder in case you want to shoot with electronic shutter, 4K video is a must to be taken seriously, maybe even 120fps 1080p. That would be some action camera. Although the current guessed specs say 24mp, the A7s sensor would be the obvious choice for this. These are the guessed specs: 24MP full frame sensor Tilting LCD screen Wi-Fi support Expeed 4 imaging processor Very light body (probably similar to the D610 and Df, maybe even lighter) Priced around $2,500 (the current Nikon FX camera price points are - D610: $1,896.95, Df: $2,746.95, D810: $3,296.95, D4s: $6,496.95) Potential announcement at the end of August or early September No idea on the model name - it could be D620, D750 or something completely differen http://nikonrumors.com/2014/08/11/the-upcoming-nikon-full-frame-dslr-camera-will-be-marketed-as-an-action-camera.aspx/ Maybe Andrew is already shooting it and that's the reason why he isn't showing up on the forums :P

Any recommendations for Contax To Nikon F Mount adaptors?
Nikkor replied to DevonChris's topic in Cameras
If you dont throw asay the parts you can always convert it back. The only thing to be careful with is to get the right model as not all of them are compatible with the leitax mount.- 7 replies

Seems like it's tuned for one single distance.

I have the 28 1.4 so I haven't tried out the others but the 28 2 is also nice from what I've seen on the internet. It's a rumor, and that 4K stuff comes out of my imagination so... Wait till september ;)

http://nikonrumors.com/2014/08/08/another-full-frame-nikon-dslr-camera-coming-for-phiotokina.aspx/ It's a new fullframe camera rumor, articulated screen -> video. Maybe it does 4K and for a decent price without funky colors or external recorders and without noise (24MP 2x oversampled to 4K). But that would be too nice from nikon.

The crop factor is 1.5x on the nikon aps-c cameras. No I'm not selling it :P, It's my only zoom lens and I only got it back last month. If you want cheap nikkor glass hurry up because nikon might drop the bomb at the end of the month and you can only use f mount glass on the nikons.

RAW is not really RAW as rawlight that comes trhough the lens, but it's the data that get read on the sensor which applies different gains to different pixels, different readoutmethods, different bit depth readout, different filter coloring,etc... Anyway, seems like NIKON is going to present another new FX camera, this one will be cheaper than the d810, will have 24MP, and an articulated screen. I guess this is going to be the video camera from nikon, maybe even 4K, who knows.
