Thats for sure! We are kind of searching for the holy grail. And once we found it, we try to trick us self in telling us there is an even better one :D Anyways, cant see your result with the contax glass!

jm2c: you had a winning combo with the milvus lenses and the NX1. I dont get why you sold them. I read your argument about vimeo, but yet I think you made a loss by selling them, didnt you? GAS striked back again I take.

Thanks for your kind words, DevonChris! I too think that this is one of my best shots. So after constantly checking for something even better I finally reckon that I had something that was very good and that I wasted quite some money over the last two years finding something that might be even better, yet eventually not for me. Learned the hard way.

For sure the micro is quite tempting, but I have to admit that rigging doesnt really match my profile of using a camera. But the specs of the BMMCC in a BMPCC v2 and I would maybe even forget about how nice stabilisation is. In the meantime, lets find out about the GX80

Gotcha :D Will get both this weekend. Cant wait!

It is a pitty that for stuff like the rangefinder or rectilux one still need a n diopter for getting any closer than 1 meter..

Great shot! Guess who re-bought the Voigtländer again this weekend...

wow, that shoot at 00:24 looks like a gimbal!

Did some quick grade with your natural shot: I have to admit, that adjusting those feels much more - easier - than all the Sony footage that I am struggling with. I might pull the trigger on that...

wow, thank you!

Could any of the lucky owners share some original media in the corresponding topic? Would love to see some footage with skin shot in Standard with -5/-5/-5/-5 if possible

Care to share? ?

Seems all German stores adjusted the prize for thenkit wirh the 12-32 to 799 (was 699) - bummer.

So you can zoom into the picture while recording?

The manual is now online for the curious ones amongst us: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/dscoi/DMC-GX80/EG_EC_EF_EB/guideENG.pdf A pitty that Panasonic still sticks to 28mbit @1080p with 60p. Anyone knows if I can the MF assist functionality while recording to punch into the picture in order to nail the focus as the Sony's allow?

Requesting a 4K 5D Mark IV! Werner meets Canon in Germany
jase replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Looks really nice, Ed. In case these arent processed raws I would be eager to hear about your settings + workflow -
Nice one @mercer. However there is no Speedbooster for Konica Hexanon lenses, is there?

It was said here numerous times and everyone who nowadays uses a Sony cam coming in the flavour of A7* / RX10* / A6* knows the sooner or the latter that setting a custom whitebalance is crucial to getting good results. I would like to create some kind of compendium (maybe even a wiki?) to collect this valuable information that each of us might have found out individually. By doing so, we might find "the" white balance settings for different lighting scenarios I will start with my experience with the RX100 IV: Daylight: quite easy, i always use 5600k - I never have dialed in a higher number than that (is that a mistake?) Lowlight / tungsten: this is getting a bit more trickier. On the RX100, the right spot is definitely the 3000k range. Sometimes I get good results with 3300k, sometimes it is much better with something like 3900k. I am aware that different types of artificial lights need different kelvin settings, yet I did not succeed in finding something general applicable with the RX100. I yet have to mess with the finer whitebalance settings for tuning it in any of the 4 quadrants...

I admit, those lenses are pretty close. still, the voigtländer has the closer focus (17cm vs 25cm). Not that this matters too many, but to me it does

Awesome @mercer! I am really really near rebuying that lens again, maybe matched by some older Panasonic (like the G7) or wait for the GX80. I just love this lens. This week i searched for alternatives but there arent any.. you wont get any 25mm f0.95 equivalent lens that has a awesome short minimum focus distance in something comparable size-wise. Would be great if you also try standard -5,-5,-5,-5 again - preferably some human skin combined with either KD P400 Ptra or FJ SuperX 400 and post some screencaps

Thanks for all the comments from you guys, doesnt make it much easier, though I checked my needs again and if I try to put the GAS aside, I think the RX100 fulfills nearly every of my needs except shallow(er) DoF. However as you guys pointed out, there is no THE camera. Stabilization is definitely wanted, so that removes the BMPCC since there is no IS lens even with speedbooster that would give me nice DoF except the Canon 35 2.0 IS... yet with the speedbooster this will be sth like a 57mm FF equivalent which is too wide for my taste. I ruled out the 5D mark 3. As nice as it looks like, it will be a waste of money since it will be pretty soon outdated due to the successor and I would need plenty of CF cards, etc... I think you guys reminded me of the fact that the process will be kind of cumbersome, especially when just being out their with my backpack. So long story short, I think RAW is not really an option.

wolf33d, i really like it - looks awesome and reminds me of this one, which I also like very much: As much as I like this style of editing, I agree with the others that it was maybe a tad too much. Yet, I am really curious to try this one as well!

Shooting on a RX100 IV 1. Settings in camera: Take any PP and set Gamma to Cine1 and Color Mode to Pro. Use a Kelvin-based Whitebalance since Sonys like to go off as often reported here. I found myself having two profiles on the RX100, one with 100p & 5600k Kelvin for daylight usage and one with 25p & 3300k Kelvin for lowlight / tungsten. Configure the lensring so that you can focus with it, use the akward handle on top for zooming. Oh and btw, set the zoom speed to fast, it is the only way for not having akward movements. If you dont need 100/120p and you are willing to sacrifice a bit of FoV then set the stabilisation to Intelligent Active (not available in 4k nor in 100/120p) - amazing stabilisation, not GX80 level but very close. I also love to use a Tiffen Ultra Contrast 3 filter on that lens, but then you have to be very careful in daylight. 2. Postprocessing: I admit that I love FilmConvert and use it quite frequently. It has a dedicated RX100 IV profile that matches the above mentioned settings. Simply apply the profile, adjust shadows & highlights to your likings - with the profile the shadows are normally arround 20IRE, in my opinion one can pull them quite often a bit down without loosing detail there to get more contrast. I rarely touch the mids and sometimes adjust the highlights. When shooting with the profile, faces can be a bit reddish, but FilmConvert evens that out. For the RX100 I like the KD P400 Ptra stock without any grain. Sometimes using the exposure switch gives also a nice touch to the image. Example:

Anyone here using one of those two lenses?
