The S1H committed the unforgivable sins of poor AF and cropped 4K60p. Otherwise, it's a nice camera.

I just want three things on the x-t4: 1) Better battery/battery life 2) Ibis 3) better CAF (ideally a touch-to-track option)

I have heard enough. Shut up and take my money already, Fuji!

I wonder how it compares to the BMPCC6K - not so much for RAW (which I think the BMPCC would win given the compression advantage) - but just for 4K IQ. The BMPCC6K uses EF glass and comes it at almost 1/3 the cost. Really curious to see how it compares in dynamic range and the texture and depth of the image. I've been pretty impressed by the 6K thus far, it's limitations and inconvenience notwithstanding.

Sony A7sIII will be the true wildcard. Could eclipse the 1DX on the video specs at half the price.

Durability though. Tough to beat with any other form factor. I lament most the fixed screen...

Thanks. I didn't see it listed on Andrew's chart. Any idea how much recording time we have in 4k 1.3x crop DCI dpaf in 60fps on a 64gb or 128gb card?
-
My understanding was that the there was a cropped 4K mode where you could record 60fps with DPAF? Is that not the case? Is there no codec or mode you can record 60fps along with DPAF? Also, C-Log is restricted to H.265 only, correct?

Me too. I want an uncropped, full frame 4K60p 10bit tool. I can look past the lack of IBIS and ND filtration, but if I'm paying $6,000 i don't want any crop. Otherwise, I can just stick with an APSC Pocket 6K and have 10bit RAW 6K at 50fps. Yes there are some ergonomic and battery issues, but nothing that can't be addressed with < $500 extra.

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera

Agreed. Crop in 60p was a real bummer for me. Would have also like to see higher bit rates/pro res. -

Yes, queue up Mattias to remind us of the color science and that specs don't matter... -
Canon removing 24p from new 4K mirrorless cameras - THE MEMES

Appears they did the same thing with the 90D as well. Clowns. -
...and bring a gopro and one wheel along with you

Great piece, Andrew, and I agree with the premise. These offerings lack 'soul' and the analogy to Toyota couldn't be any more accurate. Cameras have become part of the tapestry of culture (both as tools used for the creative arts and as accessories that we carry around with us) and as such, demand some attention to aesthetics and ergonomics. I don't see Sony innovating nor even evolving with each life cycle of their product. It's the death of imagination and the murder of the beautiful at the hands of technocracy.

Thanks. How difficult is to get the ring on the body given how thin it is? Is there any play between lens and body?
-
How about the IBIS? Does it work well with the Sony lenses? Would be intrigued by a Z6 + Tamron 28-75 FE combo but need reassurance that the CAF is decent and that IBIS would function properly.
-
But will it work in video?
-
I too am impressed with the Z6. Ticks off a lot of boxes in a very small and light form factor. I'm a former Canon, Sony and Panasonic user. I also have an XT3 which I love and recently got the Z6. The Z6 is blowing me away across the board. Really, the only thing it's lacking is 4k60p and a robust native lens lineup (for now). The IBIS is better than I expected, 120fps is excellent, weather sealed, awesome low light capability, touch interface, good battery life and eye-AF and ProRes Raw on the way! Very happy so far.

Clearing up the utter bull**** in this Tony Northup Panasonic S1 video

It is refreshing however, to see a one of these YT celebrities recommend restraint. Too many have become product peddlers. -

Fair enough. But look at how small the Z6 is. Granted, it doesn't do 4k60p, but it handles FF 4k, 10bit out and Ibis is quite good in a very small body. -

Not a fan of Tony Northrop. But... Huge body. Insanely expensive lenses. Cropped 4K60p. Dubious AF performance. Image still has the veneer of video (imho). Not a dud but far from the perfect camera.
