  1. Could be, did not think about that. Ok I will wait for the canon announcement before any conclusions. I do want canon to make a nice 4k camera, because the autofocus is so good.
  2. Ok now that the full specs are out here is answer to my question about how the "4k" is achieved 2840x2160 I don't know in what world this is 4k? clearly its not even 3k https://t.co/Zj5WGS0KMg?amp=1
  3. 32.5mp APS-C Sensor DIGIC 8 14fps RAW burst to 30fps Up to ISO 26500 Eye detect AF AF capable down to -5 EV 4K video FullHD at 120fps Removeable OLED viewfinder Read more: https://photorumors.com/2019/08/19/canon-eos-m6-mark-ii-and-canon-eos-90d-promo-videos-leaked-online/#ixzz5x552VOdJ What does 4k though image processing mean canon?
  4. Red does not need a patent to make the cameras. so there will be no problem for red if they lose the patent, they can keep on making the same camera as they did before. And they can keep making money.
  5. Yes the 95 mb card is working fine for me, although I would not mind having a faster card, because there seems to be a little delay when I want to playback a picture just after taking it, as it needs to write to the card. ( using RAW + JPG fine )
  6. What I can say about compressed raw is: Stills cameras had a form of compressed raw already before Red made it version. https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/raw-file-size-on-d70.95856/ I used to have a Nikon D70 and the Raw files were compressed. So what I try to understand is what makes the compression on a series of stills at 24 frames per second so different than the single images? It is the same single compressed frame just more of them. So In my view the patent should not have been granted. only the compression algorithm could perhaps have been awarded a patent. But if this was just a form of jpg2000 I don't see why they would even need to get a patent for that.
  7. Canon is responsible for the security in the camera, you don't need to bring magic lantern into this because it has nothing to do with it.
  8. Internal compressed raw is patented by Red. ( I dont't know if it only applies to lossy or also lossless compressed ) Uncompressed raw is not patented, so Sigma can make the cinema dng uncompressed camera without patent violations. The good thing about uncompressed is that right now storage is still expensive and we want compressed, in the future uncompressed will be wanted as storage will be cheap. and therefore we are now in a transition period.
  9. It still useful for stabilising in post
  10. The S1 Does not have an anti alias filter, so naturally it is more prone to moire than cameras with that filter. you get a slightly sharper image for it in return
  11. Its also a stills camera that shoots dng stills, just don't expect the autofocus to be great.
  12. something related to this? https://fstoppers.com/opinion/blue-clipping-problem-you-probably-never-knew-existed-low-budget-cameras-325594
  13. Put it on youtube and monetise it with ads? This video has 28 million views for example.
  14. https://partnerhelp.netflixstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000579527-Cameras-and-Image-Capture I know the S1 is not approved for Netflix but it could be based on the requirements, it would have to be with an external recorder for the I frame codec and data rate requirement. Camera Requirements Please note, not all cameras that meet these requirements will be approved as primary cameras. These requirements are the minimum specifications necessary for consideration. Other attributes must be taken into account such as dynamic range, form factor, stability, workflow compatibility etc. Resolution Requirements: Camera must have a true 4K UHD sensor (equal to or greater than 3840 photosites wide). Capture Requirements: Capture Format RAW (Sony RAW, REDCODE, Arriraw etc.) COMPRESSED (XAVC, ProRes, or other I-Frame capable formats) Minimum of 16-bit Linear or 10-bit Log processing Minimum data-rate of Bitrate of 240 Mbps at 23.98 fps Capture Transfer Function S-Log3, Log-C, V-Log, Log3G10, etc. Capture Color Space S-Gamut3.cine, RED Wide Gamut RGB, Alexa Wide Gamut, etc. No looks or color corrections should be baked into the original camera files. Files must maintain all metadata (i.e. Tape Name, Timecode, Frame Rate, ISO, WB, etc.). Anamorphic Lenses: If anamorphic lenses are being considered, camera selection must take into account the extra resolution required for capture. Contact your Netflix project lead to discuss implications or concerns.
  15. Every hdmi connection has lag, don’t know how much compared to hg5
  16. CVP may have been under the assumtion that is was 3 letters, I mean 3 characters also work, but the max is 8 as you can see in my screenshot. More than 8 won't work.
  17. some of those varicam names are too long, I tried them, no luck had to rename them to shorter ones. If you can make the long ones work without renaming I will take back everything I said on this topic. The good news is that they do work, because I have some of those loaded in the camera
  18. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/8.3_filename Not directly from panasonic but its an old file standard.
  19. 8.3 filename for the luts so 8 characters plus 3 for the .vlt extension
  20. yes I understood it like that, I did some test with Kodak stock and just normal vlog to rec 709 conversion and the green colours look more towards how it looks with our eyes.
