Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
Lars Steenhoff replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Probably you need to let more light on the sensor. shot noise can be a factor -
Yes it does have a DX mode

The size and the resolution are both better on canon and Nikon ( 3.2 inch vs 3 inch ) double the resolution. When I spoke to a fuji rep at IBC it was the first feedback I gave, make the lcd bigger and with higher resolution. Zeiss really gets this right with the ZX1.

One thing I noticed on the ninja v with the zebras is that they are measured at the last stage in the image processing instead of in the first. If you try for example to add a LUT the zebra value will change, because is measures the zebra after the LUT is applied. For me it would be much better if the zebras are measured directly from the input signal before any processing so that I know my source footage is correctly exposed.

https://www.paralinx.net/store/?category=videocables I use these hdmi cables, but I use the canon 5d3 with ninja v works great, but I did not test 4k yet.

The new firmware is out! https://www.atomos.com/firmware/ninja-v Bug fixes: Release NotesAtomOS 10.01 26 October 2018 - Fixed a monitoring issue with some cameras where the areas of peak brightness in images would appear black on screen when viewing using selected 3D LUTs. - Improved HDMI signal locking to prevent the input from dropping with some camera settings. - Fixed an issue with audio delay where audio was corrupted at selected frame rates.

X-T3 vs A7III vs EOS R vs Z7 vs Pocket 4K - Video Quality Compared!
Lars Steenhoff replied to Mako Sports's topic in Cameras
He was using default sharpness setting son each camera, this alone makes a big difference between the cameras. Also when testing for sharpness you have to take in account the lens. and the aperture it set at and the focus distance . many variables . -

It's free and takes about a week if you choose the free option. Otherwise you can do a small payment and you don't need to wait https://signup.steemit.com -

It is written on the Nikon USA Website, Battery Life (shots per charge) 310 shots (CIPA) Movies: Approx. 10-15 min of movie recording https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/mirrorless-cameras/z-6.html#tab-ProductDetail-ProductTabs-TechSpecs but on the Japanese website it says 85 min. I trust more the Japanese site https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nikon-image.com%2Fproducts%2Fmirrorless%2Flineup%2Fz_6%2Fspec.html&edit-text=&act=url

Here's what I think are the pros an cons PRO 3.2 " lcd. ( better than 3" ) 2 million dots lcd resolution ( better than 1 million ) Responsive touch screen Grip seems nice 5 axis IBIS Short flange High resolution EVF Nice EVF optics 0.8 magnification 10 bit hdmi out Adapter can stop down the aperture 4k full pixel read out ( Z6 ) Mic input Headphone output Usb-c ( + charging in camera ) N-LOG over hdmi Lossless compressed 14 bit RAW for stills 144Mbps internal is not so bad CONS Adapter no AF on screwdriver lenses Battery life if only 10-15 min in video ( USA site ), Japan site says 85 min ( http://www.nikon-image.com/products/mirrorless/lineup/z_6/spec.html ) One card slot ( don't care so much about it, but still, its 2018) No internal N-LOG No internal 10 bit No LUT support in camera ( like in the black magic pocket 4k ) No 4k DCI No 200 mbs bitrate internal. ( 144Mbps ) No 4k 60p No mini XLR for sound ( Blackmagic ) Lenses don't seem to have linear focus option. Lenses focus rotation don't seem to be able to reverse No RAW for video No Prores for video 4 GB split for movies

I wish the LUT gallery thumbnails were from the current selected video frame. that way you can see all the grades how they would look like on your shot. Now you have to select each one to see how they look like in a shot. It's better than it was for sure, just could have been perfect if they did that.

Atomos and dji are launch partner for pro res raw, after 6 months the format will open up to other manufacturers, thats about september, so I see pro res raw added by then
-
willing to share the dng?
-
uncompressed Raw actually requires less processing power. no need to debater and to compress.

https://www.gridaccessories.com/products/grid-5-0-viewfinder/ If you add a loope you have one of the best viewfinder experiences on any camera, 1080p https://www.pstechnik.de/en/ps-finder-loupe/a-1188/ or more expensive

-
Yea pro's actually can't focus at all, they need to outsource that to a focus puller
-
still think the focus sucks even when tony thinks its better than a7r2 which i don't believe
-
-
Autofocus still sucks, but we knew that would happen without phase detection on sensor.

There are many things good about the xt-2 but for video there is also one very bad thing: the refresh rate of the lcd and the evf when set to 25 fps is very much stuttering and not smooth like on other cameras such as canon or sony. This is for me what makes this camera less nice to use. Also the resolution on the back lcd is not that much. and its 3.0 inch and I prefer it 3.2 like on canon or nikon. The rest is all great.
