  2. I’m still not understanding... it takes only a few minutes to adjust the color to your liking, so what difference does it all make in the end? No two people have the same taste or viewing conditions, so they’d have to calibrate the tv anyhow. Seems like much ado about nothing...
  3. Just picked up an LG 55” C7 OLED television last night, and aside from switching to ‘Cinema’, lowering sharpening and turning off a few auto features, the set looked pretty fantastic out of the box. The image quality is just insane. Again, far easier to adjust settings on the LG to my liking than setting up a new camera, and best of all, it didn’t require an owner’s manual to figure it all out.

    Coming soon... more Veydra goodness.
  5. It is however a valid test for those of us whose everyday routine is to shoot at 24p with longer lenses wide open. There is little reason to use AF C when shooting at 8mm, like another vlogger does. ZedPro Media, an impartial reviewer competent to judge, just uploaded a fairly lengthy test with different settings outdoors and indoors with one of the 12-35mm lenses at f/2.8, and the results failed to impress. His Canon, Fuji and Sony cameras fared much better in earlier tests.
  6. Infinity not stopping precisely at the focus mark is normal with this lens. I bought a new lens cap immediately after getting the Laowa, it’s no big deal. Shoot with the lens - it’s compact, it’s sharp.
  7. Actually it is less effective with longer lenses and there is unwanted motion, so it will not be a substitute for rails, a follow focus and a steady tripod or shoulder rig.
  8. LUT Utility from Color Grading Central for use with FCPX works fine for me, keeps everything organized.
  9. @mercer What was the topic again? I'm just going by the side-by-side footage I've seen online. I've already said, I've probably uploaded dozens of videos shot in 23.976 as 24 and vice versa: I didn't know better at the time, and not a single person pointed it out. Some even had speaking, and changes in audio frequency are much easier to detect.
  10. I wasted over $400 already on cards to shoot a codec I'll probably never use. Before jumping in and buying pricey v60 or v90 cards, everyone should be asking themselves if they really need it first. I can't see any difference in motion, maybe someone with better eyesight than mine can.

Thanks, @mercer. At Alan Photo in Singapore, where I shot my first clips with the Veydra, a matte box and flags would have helped increase contrast and color. For the rest, the difference might have been smaller. For the shots at the post office, I used the new IS Lock, which was a mistake on my part as well. Live and learn. According to what I've heard, it's just supposed to work with IS lenses, but it still definitely behaved differently (ie, badly) with the Veydra. BMD VA ProRes vs GH5 1080p?
  12. Smart move, @DBounce. I got one Panasonic 128GB v90 and one Angelbird AV PRO 128GB v90, but now it looks like I won't even be needing them. The single feature I'm most interested in at the moment is HLG. I don't care about editing for now, just want to be able to shoot and play on TV.
  13. What I’m most eager to try out is the 72mbps with LongGOP compression 10bit 4:2:0 HEVC
  14. I haven't owned it that long, but one of my biggest gripes, a carry over from the G85, is that focus peaking does not work well enough. I need to use an external monitor for manual focusing.
  15. I'm not seeing any difference in motion between ALL I and IPB, so I'll probably be sticking with 4K 150 Mbps.

First sample footage, Veydra Mini Prime 85mm T2.2. Image quality has been compromised as no matte box was used. Music by Eric Matyas. www.soundimage.org
  17. The user manual you posted says non v60 v90 cards will not allow backup to 2nd card in ALL I 400.
  18. Slower cards may work, but you won't be able to use a second card as a backup.
  19. I paid $1,850 USD + free V-Log Lite and one extra battery, so that comes close to around $1,700 for the body only.
