  1. @PannySVHS Here are a few slow and fast pans I just did in the alley.

    GH5 Cages

I want the GH5 just for the LockCircle cage alone! Like the way they spell 'focal plain'. ?
  3. I can't even make a steady slider shot, but I'll try to do some panning shots this morning.
  4. That looks like it's on a slider. OMG. Pretty nifty little feature.

I've already booked a flight to Hong Kong for next month to pick one of these bad boys up.
  6. Beautiful skin tones, nice lighting, pleasing shallow depth of field, good performance - and if that's AF, it's awesome that it doesn't hunt back and forth once it locks on. Still wish I could find one of these in Vietnam.

and it's only $410 USD in Hong Kong.
  8. That may be my plan, as I now need some MF lenses.

Apparently, the Venus Optics Laowa 7.5mm f/2 is a great little UW. It's got a few issues with flare, distortion and vignetting, but it's super compact, all metal construction, it's got an aperture ring (full stop increments only?), and it's only $500. The 105mm f/2 turned out to be a sensational lens when tested by lenstip, but some issues with quality control and its high price led them to have some reservations. At half the price of currently available ultra wide zooms, 1/2 to 1/3 the weight, and with a good full stop advantage in light gathering ability, I think the Laowa 7.5mm f/2 might be the one to get.
  10. I'd been scouring this godforsaken place for weeks, searching for a shoulder rig for my kitted out G85, when @Fritz Pierre suggested I check out an EasyRig. At B&H, the genuine article runs thousands, but you can find cheaper knockoffs. I found one at a shop here for a touch over $600 USD. It takes all the strain off my arms and back, and the camera just floats in front of me like a butterfly.
  11. According to forum member aaronhead14 over at macrumors, the reason it's being offered at Apple's store is that it was part of an exclusive deal to get the modular mac pro made. Still sounds bizarre to me... Personally, I think it's got everything to do with Hydrogen.
  12. Is Sliver Lion a new category at Cannes or something?
  13. Same here. John Brawley's handheld work with the Olympus was very impressive, but I don't recall if there were any panning shots per se.
  14. True, Fritz, but I don't do much panning. I believe IBIS is also different on the two cameras.
  15. I'm not sure I can go along with the idea that this is the future of small form factor cinema, and I have difficulty swallowing the assertion that the Hydrogen should outperform other mirrorless cameras and DSLRs. Maybe a good crash cam though!
  16. This would be filed under 'etc.', but Rotolight is currently selling its Neo for as little as $150.00 USD.
  17. Incidentally, his LUT works equally well on footage that has not been exposed to the right. ?
  18. People say if you drop the 4K footage on a 1080p timeline, it helps make noise less noticeable. I seldom if ever shoot at ISO 1600, so not sure about how Cinelike D looks at high ISOs. Neat Video works well for me, but since I mostly shoot between ISO 200-400, I don't end up using any noise reduction in post much. I suppose it couldn't hurt to shoot the color card if you've got time. I use the X/Rite Colorchecker, and I tried getting a quick balance using the color match feature in Color Finale a few times - I didn't care for the results much, and most of my work now is white balanced close enough that I can get there on my own.
  19. I was under the impression that 4K was a straight 2X crop, not 2.2. Am I mistaken?
