Stunning work - shot with two pancake lenses, the Zhiyun Crane, and a little imagination.
-
Your work is the real deal, Chris. Just spent the past half hour watching a few of your videos, truly wonderful.
-
Glenn, I'm not seeing the Vimeo name in the bottom right hand corner, so I can't open it up in Vimeo. The second video I can. Strange.
-
Since getting the BMD Video Assist, I had the chance to view a couple of ProRes 1080p clips shot with the G85 (outputting 4K to the recorder), and the images look beautiful on my 2K monitor. So for those looking for the elusive 1080p monster, I'd think pairing a Ninja Blade with the GX80, at under $1,000, would be an economical choice.
-
My bad, but I'd still proceed with caution. Let us know how it works out for you after using it for a while.

Could you share some video samples? I wouldn't trust anything less than a $50 UV filter on my lenses, so I'd be very skeptical of a speed booster for only $121, especially one with only two reviews at Amazon, one of which says it didn't communicate with their camera.

Glenn, I like the colors of the first video muchly, but it's soft as 540p and there's a bunch of aliasing. The second video seems to have a lot of sharpening added in post, and maybe some aggressive film grain too. Are you seeing the same thing as me, or is it my monitor?
-
I'm not seeing it... two of the videos you share are pretty mushy looking to me, which just kills it. The first video is utterly unremarkable. Even though two of the videos are soft, I wouldn't mind so much if they had something unique to say. But they don't. The Criminal Minds promo doesn't shout film to me either, no way the GH5 or even the lowly G85 couldn't have done just as well. I much prefer the look of the Foam Drive Renegades. In the third video, Hope, I'm seeing crushed blacks and blown highlights, nothing so subtle or special about that. And as far as skin tones go, @Thpriest's work is better than this.

I'll be sure to let you know how my cable holds up. Slim and flexible is the way to go for sure. The one thing we can't tell from pictures though is how snugly the connectors fit. My last cable was just a little too loose at the HDMI out.
-
@PannySVHS Thanks! I've since rearranged the HDMI ribbon so it's not so messy, they didn't have a shorter one at the shop here. The clamp that comes with the cage is outstanding, but the connectors fit very snuggly and won't just fall out or anything like with the first cable I'd purchased. So yeah, with the clamp I don't see the connection coming loose unless you really tugged the cable hard. I got the 5" Video Assist thinking it would have all the features they added to the 4K model over the summer, but I was mistaken: still just zebras and peaking. What I like the most is that you can add LUTs to the monitor, so of course, I installed the Leeming LUT for Cinelike D. I only just got an SD card yesterday, and I haven't had a chance to view the footage on the computer yet.

Even with the compact Olympus 75mm f/1.8, my Lumix G85 kitted out with a Tuba camera cage, BMD Video Assist and Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro, the weight is approaching 6 pounds (2.678 gr). Stuff adds up quickly. ?

and don't forget, don't try this on shag carpeting.

I thought this was informative - a look at how Griffin Hammond released his documentary Sriracha, along with a breakdown of earnings, marketing...

@Thpriest Even though I've been an advocate of fast native primes for a while now, I must say I'm amazed that you're able to shoot weddings while constantly changing lenses and manually focusing. Your eyesight must be great if you're able to nail focus every time, I just dropped nearly $1,000 on a camera cage and BMD Video Assist solely in order to be able to use my one and only manual native prime, a Nokton 17.5mm, with the G85. Also, even for someone who only changes lenses ocassionally, having to confirm the focal length each time the camera is turned on with lenses that don't communicate with the body is annoying, and I'm absolutely certain it's led to some missed opportunities for more than one of us. It's been a while since I've shot with my own SB XL (I don't own the Ultra), but I think if you're shooting in low light, you're going to resort to MF for everything: AF is probably going to be painfully slow. Anyhow, you've inspired me to go home this evening and update my SB, do some low light AF tests and compare speeds changing native lenses vs. adapted! Maybe I can share a clip demonstrating focus this evening, but I'm sure there must be a few online already. You should be aware that while many here may not have experienced issues with the SBs, Lensrentals .com does not recommend them at all for paid work, as they can be unreliable. If you're shooting with Voigtlanders now and intend to throw in some Sigmas, I'm guessing slow native zooms aren't going to cut it, and if budget is a consideration, purchasing a second GH5 body and two speedboosters is going to be prohibitively expensive - as well as hard on your back!

Mattias, I've been thinking of getting the 16mm f/1.4 for a long time now. Do you have any experience with it?
-
What do you plan to shoot I guess is the next question....
-
Same here. Much wider. Something's not right here.
