I'm not sure which profile this is, but Jordan shot this Leica review with the GH5. Is this the kind of look you're after?

I've already cancelled my preorder for the GH5, not because of the AF-C, but because it's way more camera than I need for vlogging. But - is there anyone among you who would be willing to pay for my camera if I bought the GH5 and, using the settings you recommend, pointed the camera at a lamp in my room, then at one of my hard drives, then at a pillow, and it didn't focus within 20 seconds of pointing the camera at each of those objects?

I don't own the GH5, but I'd recommend using Standard if you're looking for vibrant color straight out of the camera. Natural or Cinelike D is going to be more muted. As far as accuracy, that will depend entirely on your WB. Below is a screen shot from the G85 using Cinelike D, no color correction.

And it accepts filters! Tomorrow I'll be uploading a comparison between the Olympus 25mm f/1.2 and Sigma DC DN 30mm f/1.4. It's probably going to be a grand slam though.

This evening, I'll be uploading a comparison between the Olympus 25mm f/1.2 and Leica 12mm f/1.4 on the Lumix G85. I'm not really expecting the Olympus to be able to keep up, I've been so impressed with the sharpness of the Leica and its 3D pop. Anyhow, we'll see soon enough...

Where's this video? Is it a live stream? I can't seem to find it.

Actually, ETTR is the best way to get good image quality from LOG footage, just as it is with non-LOG footage. But it is really only effective at base ISO. I'm with you though about not wanting to shoot LOG, but according to what I've seen, with the GH5 at least, V-LOG L gives two extra stops of dynamic range.

I used to hate vloggers, and now I'm doing it myself.

Twenty-five hours of testing; using so many different settings; inviting a Panasonic luminary to join him; and Max tried out some of the suggestions offered by readers in the comments section of his first video. And I'm sure Joseph reached out to Panasonic for whatever advice they could give as well. In fact, like I said, I've watched dozens of tests by at least a dozen or more online reviewers, reviewers who each have their own methodology for testing, most of whom have experience with dozens if not hundreds of other cameras, and they all reached the same conclusion. You can fault Max all you like, but can you name a single other reviewer who has done such thorough and exhaustive testing? Remember, when Joseph came to work with Max, the two spent fifteen hours trying every possible setting. To be honest, I'm not trying to convince you of anything, since I have no vested interest in this whatsoever.

At the launch, Panasonic representatives boasted about the new improved AF, and because it wasn't very reliable on the GH4, many were hoping for considerably better performance, though they already knew that CDAF was never going to compete with PDAF. So if so much attention has been focused on AF, I think part of the blame must fall on Panasonic's shoulders in the first place.

I recommend the Canon C300 Mark II

I appreciate your contributions, I wasn't directing my comment at you. I don't recall you ever saying reviewers purposely reported poor AF results just in order to increase viewership. Max did however spend some 25 hours testing, and 1/2 dozen or more others whose reviews I respect also came to similar conclusions. Even Photo Joseph, a Panasonic luminary, could not get consistent results. Joseph and Max both seemed to agree that AF-C performed better at 60p with an external recorder, but I shoot 24p and have no desire to purchase an external recorder - a monitor though, for sure! ? And I find it baffling that the Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 v.1 performed better in their tests than v.2. I don't own the camera, I'm not taking sides, I really wish they would move on already.
-
It really does not seem to add up, at least in my opinion, that a half dozen or so reviewers whose work I respect, would purposely trash the GH5, or any other gear for that matter, just to increase viewership. In fact, several have already purchased one or more bodies already, and aside from the AF, they say it's a phenomenal camera. Not only that, but most of these channels earn money when viewers purchase gear through the links in their site. So you can accuse a dozen or more reputable reviewers of incompetence if you like, but I think unless you can prove that these reviewers are benefitting economically by sharing the results of their tests, please refrain from accusing them of having ulterior motives.

Thanks, IronFilm, I'd been waiting months for an answer to that question. I would never go to a once in a lifetime event with only one camera, besides, it would be simpler to have a couple bodies with different lenses than changing them all the time.

Which is the very reason I cancelled my preorder. Everything I do is for YouTube, I need something compact as well, great camera, but maybe too much camera for what I do.
-
That must explain why I can't get to sleep
-
Is it like an experimental film or something?
-
Good luck, I'm sure they'll take good care of you.

Right, it's also possible to save custom WB settings with Panasonic

I sent mine back to China, received it back by FedEx very quickly.

I'm going to be sticking with my G85 for a while. I just love it, it's got almost everything I need. No need for a 'pro' camera yet.

And the fellow who doesn't even know that the little Sony shoots 4k can't even spell Max's name correctly in his own video. He manages to cull a few seconds of successes from a grueling 15 hour day in inclement weather.
