For subjects moving toward the camera, it may very well be unusable. What I'm interested in knowing, since I intend to use the camera for vlogging from my home, is whether or not it can even stay focused on me for all of ten minutes. I've even seen Sony and Fuji fail this test, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Thanks, Stab, but I'm not finding Seetec here in Vietnam. This really is a third world country when it comes to finding camera gear beyond the consumer level. Monitors are in scarce supply. Same goes for LED video lighting.

They say it can be used with the GH4, but that means it will accept 1080p, not 4K. In the menus of the G85, you can set it to Auto, and it will automatically switch to 1080p or 4K. Is there any difference if I get a monitor that only accepts 1080p while I'm recording 4K?

Color balance is way off, skin tones awful; just because someone's doing a test doesn't relieve them of the responsibility of making half-way interesting content. Like over 1/2 the clips we've seen, this guy's not only not a photographer - he's not even a capable technician. I know some here are just interested in tests, and that's all well and good. But I find it disheartening to see such a great camera in the hands of so many mediocrities. I'm not saying I'm all that great either - my color balance is off all the time, maybe my stuff is trifling - but I try. Even the expression on the subject here is like a zombie who doesn't want to be there.

The shop I ordered the Feelworld F7 from says they are out of stock, so I was about to get the FW-760 instead, but the manual says nothing about 4K HDMI support, so I didn't get it. In addition to not having HDMI pass, the ports are on the side rather than on the bottom, which would have made it easier to use.

It sounds like the tilt axis needs adjusting. Raise or lower the the arm a little at a time, lock it, and see if the camera swings freely. This may take a few minutes.

I went ahead and ordered the FeelWorld F7 myself. Tired of squinting at 3" LCD monitors.

Do you really believe the difference between those two frames is due to sharpening algorithms, not motion blur?

If you skip forward to 37'05" in Gordon Laing's complete review of the GH5, you can hear Doug noting how, during a pan shot, the image becomes noticeably sharper once the camera stops moving, perhaps partially due to the camera being able to lock focus, but mostly due to motion blur. There are also two freeze frames for reference.

To be fair, he does point out most of the positive points you mention in his video.

Revisiting this thread after so long is just an unpleasant reminder of why I'll never purchase a Filmpower product ever again, self-balancing or no. Customer service is really essential.

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 is just blowing my mind. I've got the Leica 12mm f/1.4 next in line, but the Sigma's really raising the bar. Everyone's saying how the Leica's tack sharp from wide open, but I've yet to see any footage from the lens that convinces me of that. And most of the charlatan reviews showing the bokeh wide open, first of all, either there isn't anything sharp in the image to begin with, or they never bother to say what the camera settings were or whether any sharpening was added in post. it's no different from someone posting a review of a $50 LED light and saying how they were able to shoot at f/9 from 12 feet away, meanwhile not saying that they were filming at ISO 12000! i just (almost) finished a review where the YouTuber published all of three or four pictures shot with the lens. Incredible that he's been so productive! My last video had at least sixty images. Another reviewer, talking about the Oly 12mm f/1.2 and filming with the PanLeica 12mm f/1.4, switched lenses in the middle of the review to show how much sharper the Oly was wide open, but neglected to inform readers that the Leica is sharper than the Oly when stopped down a touch. I think people considering spending $1,200 on a lens deserve more than just verbal reassurances that the lens is fine and worth the dough. I will say the build quality of the Leica is impressive, but you shouldn't have to spend over $1,200.00 USD for Panasonic to produce lenses with aperture rings and a solid metal casing. I'm not anyone's fanboy, but if Fuji can build lenses in Japan with high quality metal housings and aperture rings for as little as $500, Panasonic should be able to do the same with their lenses built in China. After all, there are metal bodies, then there are metal bodies, just the as there are high quality polycarbonates (or whatever!) and cheap plastics.

Apparently FeelWorld makes some great inexpensive monitors. I'm hoping a shop here can get me one that does 1920X1200 and can accept a 4K signal. But in the third world, not an easy task. Practically nobody here shoots 4K.

In fact, even if it's lower resolution with motion blur, you're almost always better off shooting 4K with today's mirrorless cameras, since they will have less moire and aliasing when downsampled to 1080p and it also gives you the option to crop the image during editing.

And those will be obsolete in 2018, when Panasonic introduces 8K...

There has been great television by renowned directors even as early as 1973, with Ingmar Bergman's powerful miniseries Scenes from a Marriage. And beginning in 1984, Edgar Reitz's epic Heimat, which I believe was shown on television before being released in theaters, but I'm not 100% sure about the chronology. Heimat was also my very first movie review. There must be others, but I'm no TV historian.

I was just looking at the comments section over at 43 rumors from last week, when I came across this gem from Michael: Many years ago I got to preview the Cinema5D website before their site launched. I noticed some flaws in the site. Instead of giving the site operators feedback on potential issues, I decided to alert everyone I could on the Internet, that the site was flawed beyond repair and that people shouldn't bother visiting the site. A lot of people were stunned and angry about my opinion, but I don't tolerate rude responses and that kind of tone.
