To refocus while shooting, use the joystick. I've never done it, but from what I've heard, the problem you can run into is that the camera may start focusing on points in between points as you move the joystick. To get 1/50, move the shutter speed dial to 1/60. Below the shutter dial, between the AE-L and AF-L, a wheel allows you to make incremental adjustments.

Josh - nice work, good presentation. The tips are excellent, too, especially #1, because I always worry I'm going to lose that screw! Your brief balancing tutorial is quite different from every other one I've seen, or how I balance, but whatever works, you've obviously got a lot of experience. Subscribed to your channel!

Looking great.

There's a switch on the front of the camera to select between AF-C, AF-S and M focus. I almost always leave the camera in manual focus and use the AF-L button to acquire focus, that way, I can see the focus peaking when I move around the subject. I haven't used the 18-55mm, but tests I've seen give it around 2.7-2.8 EV, which is average. One of the best I've seen is the Olympus 300mm, which is between 4.5-4.7 EV. The screen does not dim while recording 4K, and you can adjust screen brightness in the settings. How about a monopod?

EOSHD Pro Color for Panasonic (GH4, GX85, G85 + more)
jonpais replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
That's really amazing! Can we see one of your videos that shows all this wonderful color? BTW, your Vimeo channel is simply incredible! You have such an eye for composition. I must have watched the Mega OIS vs Power OIS at least a dozen times. The GH4 must really be holding you back. I love reading your reposts here of topics you started at other websites four years ago. -

EOSHD Pro Color for Panasonic (GH4, GX85, G85 + more)

Here's a demonstration using all three settings on the GH4 with FCP. -
You're joking right?

How so?

Hi Pat, Here's a comparison between F-log and S-log. Like Phil says, the Fuji lens lineup is pretty awesome. Currently, the widest Fuji lens is the 10-24mm f/4 OIS. 10mm in 4K crop mode is the equivalent of about 17mm in full frame.

Pistol grip gimbal by any chance?

Unfortunately not possible because of the earth's gravitational pull. Did you even bother to read this thread through before posting?

We can build pipelines, walls and prisons, why can't we build a camera?

And I want to see more aerospace technology in Ghana, more particle accelerator research in Namibia, more artificial intelligence laboratories in New Zealand. And the Germans - why do they keep producing those clinically oversharp computer designed multi-coated, multi-element lenses, and can't anybody make a medium format 4K camera for under $3,000?

I'm not familiar with the 7D, but there are plenty of videos showing Canon 5D cameras working with the Crane.

Yes, I'm quite certain the GH5 won't be able to do what Brandon Lee did with his a6500.

Since I just picked up my second Crane gimbal this evening, I thought I'd share this information. One of the reasons many filmmakers held back on purchasing an X camera, as well as one of the major complaints of online reviewers, was the lack of IBIS. When I searched online for videos shot with the X-T2 and the Crane, I only found a couple, and they were of execrable quality. So I went ahead and tried balancing the X-T2 on the Crane again just now, with the 35mm f/2 lens, and it took me all of 5 minutes to do. So any serious filmmaker who wouldn't consider the Fuji before because of the lack of IBIS alone now has another option. I will post footage sometime next week hopefully. Oh, and I know some will say, but yeah, now it's no longer a $1,600 camera, it'll run $2,200. Well, I think any serious filmmaker should probably have a gimbal in their kit anyhow.

If you're wondering why I'm quoting you, it's because I lost control of my keyboard. Anyhow, i just bought my second Crane this evening. It has several upgrades from the original Crane, making it much more usable. The grooves in the arms are longer, allowing for more adjustments. Cosmetically, the it's now pretty much all black, whereas before two of the caps were silver, so now it's more fashionable. Most importantly, and I commented on this months ago, the screws did not remain tight. Now, when turning the three screws, they have a much nicer feel, fit snugly and won't come loose. Zhiyun could have continued making the Crane the same way but they listen to user feedback and make changes.

Kidzrevil l is right, they both share the same 16MP sensor with no AA filter. The G85 has a chunkier body and OLED EVF, an SD card slot separate from the battery compartment, an AF/M mode lever on the body, it's weather sealed and has mic input and mic level adjustment as well as the choice of luminance levels 16-255 or 0-255. It also has CineLike for a flatter profile if you like grading footage. The G85 has a fully articulating screen. The IBIS is second gen, some people had problems with that at the beginning, but cameras shipping now have firmware update. Choose the GX80/85 if you want something pocketable.

GH5 Rolling Shutter looks pretty good here:

I have no grudge at all against Canon, like I said, I loved my little pocket camera when I had it. What does bother me is when professionals here always ask why I don't shoot with a Canon. Canon really does have a stranglehold on the market. But what do they know anyhow? People in these parts still believe that Heineken is a premium beer! So it is an encouraging sign that more and more, I'm seeing professionals shooting with Sony.

There really could be no higher endorsement than from someone who has actually owned and used the DJI Osmo Raw!

Brandon Li's tried the Beholder and the Pilot Fly too.
