I believe it'll be available by the end of the month. At the moment in Vietnam, only two similar storage solutions are available: the LaCie Rugged Raid, which is only sold by one shop in Ha Noi; and the WD Pro, which sells for over $500 USD! Samsung has a greater presence here, so perhaps it will be on retailers' shelves in Vietnam by 2020!

Metabones recommends setting the zoom at the midway point (in this case, between 18 and 35mm), then checking infinity focus at both ends after adjustment. Isn't it just a problem at infinity focus, or does it also affect focus at close range as well? My buddy won't be able to loan me his screwdriver till tomorrow afternoon....

I just came across a review of the new Samsung P3 4TB external hard drive. I know most of you don't get excited about storage, but for me, this is a wet dream. A portable storage solution for around $150 USD that can hold 4TB and doesn't need an external power supply (USB powered).

I guess even the new Tokina is outdated already - I believe it suffers from chromatic aberration and does poorly against direct light (serious flaring). I've yet to see a lab test of the Kowa lens. The SLR Magic 10mm would be the equivalent of a 20mm full frame, while the Kowa would be 17mm, and the Tokina around the same only faster. I want as wide as I can possibly get, especially since C4K on the GH4 is cropped so much. I'm thinking I'll be shooting in cramped, dark interiors, so speed could be an important factor to consider. There are so many cool rooms in the narrow alleys here in Saigon, if only I could figure out a way to get people to allow me to shoot them....

This morning the IT guy in our office was helping me shoot a video of the problem to send to Metabones, when he noticed a screw beneath the bayonet mount was loose. A quick search online and I was able to confirm that it was indeed the adjustment screw. A buddy says an eyeglass screwdriver should work, he's bringing one back after lunch. So yeah, the infinity should be way out of wack, since I spun the lens around even more for the video this morning. :( IMG_4524.MOV

I'm starting to worry now - because I'm pretty mechanically challenged - so if that's the case, I'll probably have to send the speed booster back to the seller or manufacturer... Apparently, the seller shipped the speed booster with no extra packaging, just the plastic case that offers virtually no protection against drops - really disgusting!

I've got a GH4 with the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 and 35-100mm f/2.8 zooms and I just purchased the new Speed Booster and the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens. Now I'm considering purchasing either a Kowa Prominar 8.5mm f/2.8 MFT mount or a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. The Prominar would run around $860 + shipping while the Tokina is available here in Vietnam for around $550 I believe. Any thoughts?

I just got the Metabones XL and tried mounting it on my GH4. Using a moderate amount of force, I couldn't get the adaptor to mount on my camera. It just won't turn. Am I supposed to push a button on the adaptor or something? I can't find any information anywhere on the internet. Every video I've seen, they just pop it on their camera no problem. Also, I notice that the rear element that protrudes into the body of the camera is loose (it can spin around). Is it supposed to be like that? I contacted Metabones and they asked for a video, but I thought I might find an answer here first. Failing that, I'll take it to a local camera shop and see if they have any more luck. I'm in Vietnam, where mirrorless cameras are pretty difficult to find, and Metabones isn't even sold here as far as I know. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing this clip, which I wasn't even aware existed. Great that someone had the balls to make an actual V-Log file available - and not just some beach scene with setting sun, but some skin tones to work with! Re-reading this thread from top to bottom, it's kind of depressing to see so many haters and naysayers out there: I really love my GH4. BTW, I finally bit the bullet and bought the Sigma 18-35mm zoom - just waiting for the Speed Booster XL to arrive.

Utsira - are you starting with CineLike D profile? Because I'm working with Natural, and if I go up to 100%, the image looks radioactive (^-^) Anyhow, I went ahead and raised the levels in the test to 20% across the board, and the differences are much more noticeable. Let me know what you think.
-
Hi Utsira, the differences are subtle. I only applied 6%; perhaps if I'd gone a bit further, the differences would become more apparent. But I'm sure you can see that the Oisiris Delta LUT is cooler than the rest. In fact, the subject's complexion was rather creamy, and most of the LUTs make her skin look warmer than it was under the lighting conditions. If I were a colorist, which I'm not, I would go ahead and add further corrections. Perhaps I will after all!

I recently played around with some of the LUTs offered by Color Grading Central. Here are the results.

How does buying a new camera affect you creatively?
jonpais replied to Oliver Daniel's topic in Cameras
Purchasing every new piece of gear might not make you any more creative, but compared to my old GH3, the lack of aliasing, higher resolution and better color of the GH4 make me want to go out and shoot more. -
This is too awesome. I love my GH4 - the only thing I'm not happy with is the stabilization (I'm still trying to figure out the Nebula 4000), but aside from that... it would be great if there was no further crop in 4K mode... and if they offered slo-mo in 4K

There are still many questions, such as being able to view results on set and the amount of processing time required, but this little box is amazing.

I found this in a post published last month over at Newsshooter. A 3-axis brushless gimbal stabilizer, the Nebula 4000, which is sold from the USA with free worldwide delivery by DHL or FedEx. It is the very first small handheld stabilizer I've seen that is available NOW and costs $700. I believe it is all-metal construction. Although the videos posted on YouTube by other users look rather smooth, in those by Dan Chung, you can clearly see jitter from his footsteps. Still, since I don't have the luxury of working with a film crew, I am much more likely to use something I can throw in my bag than a large contraption weighing several pounds that must be carried in a suitcase. The gimbal is designed to work with cameras like the Sony A7S and Lumix GH4.
-
The footage looks good enough to me. I'd much rather get one of these small stabilizers, since I don't have a crew or anything. But I've seen these mentioned for years, and they never materialize. I'm sure the price will still be between $700-$800.

I'm about to pull the trigger as well. I picked up the Lumix GM1 when it came out, hoping to be able to use it with one of several announced single-handed gimbals like the Mastor Sailfish, but as far as I know, none of them ended up being released. Now that pricing has come down, I've been going back and forth between the soon-to-be-released Came-Mini ($1,188) and the new Defy G2X ($1,995) for my Lumix GH4, but decided I'd get the Came. I can use the $800 savings to pick up one of the new Veydra cinema lenses.
