Panasonic, Fuji and Sony all have ‘videocentric’ cameras. Does Canon have one too? Just asking...
-
They’re compatible with the GH5s too.

I’ll wait to see what the motion cadence is like.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
jonpais replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
That's an amusing story. There's a reason why over ninety percent of feature films are shot on super 35mm format and the trend is toward large format. The whole industry is moving toward larger, not smaller format. -

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Maybe not, but Sony's gotten much better with Mark III. The following screen grabs shot in fluorescent/daylight mixed, no color correction in post. I'm sure someone with more talent could get even better results! image 1 image 2 -

Micro four thirds is in its last throes. When manufacturers are selling FF for less than flagship crop sensor cameras, with 10-bit log thrown in, it’s game over! For my work, which is exclusively people, FF has the weight, cost and AF advantage. Both cameras cost $1,800. Olympus 45mm f/1.2 Pro - $1,200. Sony 85mm f/1.8 - $550. GH5 pkg weight - 1135 gr. Sony pkg weight - 1021 gr. -

We're not really talking about countries with annual household incomes of $1,100 are we? More than 75% of youngsters would consider a career in online videos according to some surveys. -
If the camera had uncropped 4K, 4K external, C-log and 4K DPAF, would that be a Canon first? How likely is it given their track record?

The GH5 is still holding its own on Amazon’s best seller list and many filmmakers prefer the GH5 to the a7 III. If most customers are buying the GH5 for video, that’s a pretty impressive achievement. -

Not sure what your point is. Two of the three largest retailers you linked to are selling the GH5 for $1,584.00 USD. Which is $385 more than $1,200. No retailer I’ve seen is selling the GH5 for $1,200. -

That is over $1,500 USD, am I correct? And you said yourself that is the lowest price it’s ever sold for... -

I googled the largest retailers in Stockholm. Body only. Googled currency conversion. None of the ones I checked sell the GH5 for $1,200 as the OP said. -
Probably unrelated, but I beta test LUTs quite often, and after working with one I like for months, sometimes my reaction to a new one is, ‘ugh, this one’s too light, too dark, green in the shadows, too difficult to expose for, too much work in post, etc.’; but after playing around with it for a while, I discover it actually is an improvement.

Some manufacturers have been using dust, water and grease repellant fluorine coating on their lenses, which I thought would prolong the life of the lens - less cleaning, less chance of scratching, right? Not according to Roger Cicala: According to Canon fluorine coating makes it much easier to clean the front and rear elements, so dirt and oil can be easily wiped away. With at least some of the lenses Canon has released with this coating, our opinion is the coating is very fragile. We started putting filters on all of our lenses a year after Canon started putting fluorine coating on their front elements; the incidence of lenses needing front element replacements for coating scratches and peeling skyrocketed. Canon says it’s not so, so perhaps it’s just us.

Panasonic should just focus on television sets and washing machines. They’ve got no reason to make cameras anymore. True filmmakers shoot BMD, hybrid shooters will choose Canon. -
nice shot.

FT5! A full frame GH5 with PDAF would wipe all the rest off the map where video is concerned. According to many, they already do! -
