TLDR; we were discussing 4K 60p internal.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

With all due respect, Rob, I seriously doubt Nikon users feel threatened by the Z cameras. Not a single reviewer I know of voiced any concern over Nikon abandoning DSLR shooters. And it is not because he considers the Z cameras toys that Ken finds much to criticize - things like EVF blackout, laggy touch screen, no pins for a vertical grip, single card slot, chintzy build quality of the lenses, and so on are what bother him. And Ken is hardly the first Nikon shooter to point out some of these missed opportunities. -
Fuck it with the age comments. First of all, we’re not comparing the P4K to the a7s III, are we? One will be a state-of-the-art hybrid camera with reliable continuous autofocus, long battery life and IBIS; the other is a cinema camera. And we’ve said repeatedly that you’ll most likely need an external recorder for 10-bit. Not a fan of adapters on mirrorless. Why are we going so far afield? The camera may very well have 60p internal. Does anyone feel threatened by that?
-
C’mon, Don. Nobody will need an external recorder for 60p if rumors turn out to be correct.
-
@webrunner5 He says so not once, but twice.
-
I do! And nobody knows the cost, so I’ve got no idea where the $3,500 figure came from.
-
@wolf33d did not say 4K 60p 10-bit 4:2:2 internal. He just said 4K 60p. In fact, he specifically noted 10-bit 4:2:2 would most likely be external only.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Ken Wheeler, rabidly anti-Sony, who’s shot with the D850 and owns a ton of Nikon glass, would unhesitatingly recommend the a7 III over the Z7. If indeed there is an echo chamber, strange that some of the harshest criticism should come from the very customers Nikon is courting - Nikon shooters. -
Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Four days after the announcement, the a7 III is selling better than the Z6 and Z7 at Amazon. Google trends appears to confirm the a7 III is more popular than the new Nikon mirrorless cameras. source -
AFAIK all bitrates are variable.
-
-
There isn’t a higher bitrate in HEVC.
-
I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but when you criticize somebody's work then immediately follow up with 'they should let me...', it almost sounds as though you're boasting that you could do better....

Are you saying John Brawley’s video wasn’t shot with 180 degree shutter angle? What is a good shutter angle to shoot at, in your opinion?

Zeiss has taken down the the teaser from their official web page.

Rumor sites are saying new 24 megapixel quad pixel sensor. Possibly announced at IBC in two weeks. -
I’m guessing there’s nothing in it. Blackmagic is lens agnostic.

Well, the a7s III is rumored (SR3) to have 10-bit, so even if I didn’t think 10-bit external is overhyped, I wouldn’t jump ship just yet. My god those Nikon S lenses look like cheap-ass kit lenses too. And that $6,000 Noct trophy that not a single one of us can afford? Voigtlander E-mount lenses cost 1/6 the price and compare favorably to Zeiss Otus. And no, Voigtlander didn’t ‘give the finger’ to anybody - they just go about quietly doing what they do better than just about anyone else in the business - designing some of the world’s most distinguished mechanical lenses with unique parameters at affordable prices. Even on micro four thirds, depth of field at f/.95 is too shallow as far as I’m concerned. Shooting portraits on full frame without eye AF, you’ll be lucky to get one out of five shots in focus! ? At the a7 III launch, acclaim was nearly universal, whereas the Z cameras have been met with everything from indifference to disappointment to anger - even among hardcore longtime Nikon users and vehemently anti-Sony photographers. -
Here's another beta version, skin tones not quite so warm.

It's an extremely rare occurrence. -
Lately, I've been cheating the 180 degree rule quite a bit, makes no difference to me! Just not for moving subjects. I just posted a beta LUT test where I used practically every shutter angle available. It can work for interviews as well, provided the interviewees aren't jumping up and down and doing somersaults. Anything to avoid ND filters!

Here’s a beta test of Leeming LUT One v801. It has greater dynamic range than earlier versions.
-
Love those Olympus Pros, too!
-
Seeing Mark Wyatt’s and John Brawley’s work back-to-back in the space of two days - it just doesn’t get much better than that. Skin tones - absolutely gorgeous; dynamic range and highlight roll off - check!; shadows clean as a whistle - check! This P4K is the real deal, folks, not some marketing BS. John sure makes it look easy. And Blackmagic is killing it.

@seanzzxx You'll want to expose to the right.
