@webrunner5 I believe it was Ted Forbes, in one of his videos about the upcoming Nikon mirrorless, who says that the lens motors in CDAF and PDAF systems are mechanically different. Is this so, and if it is, what would that mean for Panasonic?
-
This from DPReview’s assessment of Panasonic’s GX9 autofocus: Sure, the GX9 wouldn’t be my first choice for critical, action-oriented work (and Panasonic makes higher-end models for that sort of purpose anyway). Do they really? Where can I buy it? ? Apologies for the trolling.

I’m not playing your little games, MB. No intelligent reader thinks I’m a Sony fanboy. Try your childish school boy antics on the playground! In the comments to one video of yours, you have this to say: The Sony handles highlights very very well. Great build. Nice AF. But the EVF sucks, colors sucks, rolling shutter sucks and its the most expensive. You seem to like the word ‘suck’ a whole lot, because you never tire of repeating how Sony does. Your little poll isn’t worth a hill of beans! ? In effect, you are asking your adoring fans which camera owners are the most obnoxious! By wording it in that way, you encourage categorizing and labeling photographers according to the brand they shoot with. I can see how oversimplifications like that would have a certain appeal to those for whom the world is a complex, frightening place - I see it happening right now in my own country: manipulating facts in order to control people.

Confirmation bias. ??? Getting constant praise on your channel? ?? In fact, you’ve said numerous times in numerous places that Sony sucks balls, including in your videos. So it is only natural that your small base of devoted followers would feel the same way. The poll is meaningless, unless it is to confirm your own bias against Sony.

Thanks for the tip, @Trek of Joy . I just tried it out, it's a little tricky at first, but I'll give it a go again tomorrow morning. Keeping the camera pointed toward the ground is probably a good idea too.

And it just so happens that focus pulling with the a7 III works great as well and the image quality is beautiful. But yeah, you're never going to have the flexibility of the P4K's RAW.
-
More wholesome a7 III goodness. Full size screen grabs. ISO 400, around f/3.2. No color correction in post. Shadows pulled down slightly. I've shot with the GH5, the X-T2 and the a7 III and the Sony is by far my favorite mirrorless camera to date. 1, 2, 3, 4

Google image search often mistakes Motorola’s P30 for the iPhone X. source (no affiliate links) ???

The Sony 16-35 f/2.8 is wonderful too. You could always use Sigma’s lens conversion service for your 35mm f/1.4 as well.

Samsung eying return to camera market as Galaxy smartphone shipments fall

And such horrible corruption that allowed Samsung Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee out of prison after being sentenced for bribery. -

The boycott of Korean products didn’t help matters much, that’s for sure. At the same time, the single most eye-opening experience for me when I moved to South Korea in 2007 was that there was hardly anything that wasn’t made there - from cars, washing machines, phones, air conditioners, televisions - virtually nothing from overseas. -

Wow - Samsung’s fortunes in China really went south - from 20% to less than 2% in just five years. -
@andrgl lighten up dude.

I see what you did there.

One reason is that the money is in high end gear, not point-and-shoots. Even if, as some claim, ‘Sony’ isn’t putting a ‘dent’ in the ‘pro’ market, few question their ‘expertise’ in ‘video’, which is why most of us are here in the first place. ? But frankly, I’m baffled that you think mirrorless is just for women and young people!

Revised time of arrival Spring 2019. (not a rumor) At the same time, Engadget reports that it could be as soon as this September - however, I see no official confirmation of this. From an article published in The Phoblographer: In the interview above with Japanese TV network NHK, Nikon Imaging Japan’s executive officer confirmed that the development for a new mirrorless camera is on the way, and they’re expecting to bring one to market by spring next year. So I guess we’ll know in a few days!

The 35mm f/1.4 will not disappoint. Except for your savings account, that is. ?

I keep hearing about the extraordinary expense, massive file sizes and difficulty editing, but Sony’s 4K files are positively tiny and can be edited on virtually any machine at all.

To be fair, it is more than just a list of affiliate links and among the lenses he lists are some of the very finest available in the micro four thirds system, including Voigtlander and Olympus Pro as well as an extensive look at adapted lenses. Most stuff nowadays is available at B&H and Amazon. You’re welcome to shop anywhere you like.

How can you say that? Wouldn’t they be better off concentrating their resources rather than spreading them too thin?

Curious that of the dozens of silly, mindless, uncritical and gullible websites carrying the news, only two EOSHD forum members are clever enough to call it out for what it really is: outright lies. hehe

I thought he was agreeing with you. ?
