  1. How can you be so sure of yourself when you have never recorded by USB-C? And why does BMD keep publishing photos of someone actually holding the drive in their hands? Strange marketing... For example, I see several filmmakers have already had troubles with the HDMI port and mic input on their a7 III. And Fuji’s X-T2 has issues with monitoring externally when shooting F-log. In other words, we can’t know anything until the camera is actually released.
  2. @anonim You’ve got much better dexterity than this caffeined up guy, that’s for sure!
  3. a7 III with the Voigtlander 65mm f/2.
  4. Not only is the grip too short, but it’s also too close to the lens mount: so with many of Sony’s lenses, my fingers are sort of squished between the grip and the lens.
  5. I’d recommend recruiting a family member, friend or fellow hobbyist like many vloggers do. I would invest in LED panels to brighten up the workshop with soft, even lighting. I’d also be using several cameras to capture different angles. I would avoid using Auto anything on the Panasonic. Lumix G7 cameras can be found on eBay for just a few hundred dollars and DSLRVideoShooter’s a great place to learn about affordable lighting. If you want to get really fancy, angles can be adjusted remotely by putting the camera atop a brushless gimbal. Also, in all my years of shooting Panasonic, I’ve found tap to focus with the remote app to be quite reliable.
  6. Tap to focus with the remote app along with focus peaking always worked for me when I was vlogging. Maybe the OP is using manual lenses?
  7. If you're standing far away from the camera then, how are you going to change focus, external monitor or no?
  8. I’ve only played around with Resolve a little, so I can’t say. In fact, I seldom edit on my laptop anymore since I prefer working on my 27” iMac if only for the larger real estate.
  9. I’ve got the 2016 MBP, it’s been fine, edits FCP no problem, it’s quiet, doesn’t overheat, no funky keys, no glitches. Guess I lucked out. But yeah, if you hate it, good for you. I’m happy with mine.
  10. Gotta say it, I’d avoid 7” at all costs. 5” is ideal for the GH5. Sorry, now I said it!
  11. Not sure if that’s possible. That’s one thing I like about recording externally, for sure - being able to see the peaking - even during playback!
  12. The focus peaking is excellent as well. For shooting yourself, I guess?
  13. The AFC is so good it barely matters.
  14. are you saying the RX100 has more tech than the GH5? Does it have anamorphic mode, 10-bit internal, full HDMI out, the ability to save all settings to an SD card, waveform monitor, truly usable touch screen, fully articulating LCD, 4K 60p unlimited recording, and on and on? If the batcam had all the features of Sony, Panasonic or Fuji, it would cost in the same ballpark.
  15. I wonder what it cost to make the X-H1, the a7r III and the RX100 VI too! ?

No, IBIS cannot replace a gimbal. And I’m sure you’re aware that the IBIS in the full frame a7 III is not as effective as in the m4/3 cameras.
  17. I wonder what it really cost to design and manufacture the camera. ?
