  1. I don’t believe that’s what @Robert Collins is seeing at all. LOL

    IBIS CANNOT replace a gimbal.
  3. Not all YouTubers shooting with the GH5 look as good as this.

Sorry to say, I don’t even know what a C mount is! Maybe I should have purchased them instead, huh? At the time, never in a million years did I think I’d be shooting Sony!
  6. @FoxAdriano I've carried around my Crane with various cameras and lens combinations for as much as a half day without any strain, so physically it should be no problem at all. As far as balancing the camera on a gimbal with a zoom lens, many shooters balance for the midway point and with the new gimbals, the motors should be able to balance the camera no problem. It will however make the motors work harder and drain the batteries faster, but the batteries will last an entire day anyhow. As far as shooting handheld on a gimbal all day is concerned, it will really boil down to your technique. I'm in the middle of watching Sense8, which is entirely handheld, and it's thrilling when it's done well. By the same token, watching some of these YouTube videos with frenetic motion, it wears me out in less than two minutes.

Update on the Veydra X-mounts. I received an e-mail from Ryan Avery the other day telling me that if I hadn’t received the X-mounts yet, that he had them if I still needed them. I wrote to say that I’d gotten them already, but for some reason they were barely acceptably sharp even when stopped down to f/5.6 and asked if there was anything I could do. He replied: The sharpness has to do with flange depth and there isn’t any fix for that other than to remove material from the mount to get the rear element closer to the sensor. Some Fuji mounts have some adjustment behind them but its not an easy fix. Unusual, because I recently uploaded a half dozen 1-minute videos with the Veydras shot wide open with the GH5 and they are all sharp. And the X-T2 videos I shot way back when with Fuji lenses were all incredibly detailed. I might go back and try again, but there seems to be little interest in seeing tests with them anyhow, and I’m busy shooting with the Sony atm.
  8. Another travel video shot by a Canadian filmmaker with the a7 III, this time of my personal favorite spot in SE Asia.
  9. So you're saying that if you installed a Titan V 12GB, there would be a performance increase in Resolve, but not Final Cut, is that correct? The logic that the reason Apple doesn't put the very latest and greatest GPUs in their machines is because of Final Cut doesn't hold water with me. First of all, their computers are used for other purposes than video editing. Secondly, they're always upgrading their machines with better GPU.
  10. No, I understand the GPUs in Apple’s computers aren’t the best. I’m just asking about the NLEs themselves. Sry if that wasn’t clear.
  11. f/8 is f/8. I don’t follow, @no_connection.

A neat trick you can do with these gimbals is what I guess goes by the name of the Kubrick zoom. (@ around the 3 minute mark).
  13. Not contradicting you, but is there a link to provide evidence of this? I was under the impression that Final Cut makes very efficient use of the GPUs Apple’s computers come installed with... Thanks.
  14. @Drew Allegre You’re not daft, that’s just how it is with FCP X. ?
  15. The Zhiyun is pretty much indestructible and balancing them is child’s play.
  16. Filmmakers like Josh Morin and Brandon Li travel the world with their single handed brushless gimbals, so I think as long as you take care of them, there should be no problem.
  17. Without even knowing anything about the cost, the build quality, the handling or the optical quality, I couldn’t begin to make a statement like that about any lens by any manufacturer.
