  1. This is fairly typical of what I've seen from 99.9% of original Pocket footage online (actually a little better than most) - soft and grainy; gobs of lens flare; ugly clipping of highlights; crushed shadow details; dreadful skin tones; strong cyan cast with ugly sepia tones; little to no cohesiveness; poor dynamic range; lugubrious soundtrack - much of it resembling lo-fi home movie footage shot on VHS, or worse - yet it gets oohs and aahs from viewers. It's got nothing at all to do with the cinematic look as I understand it. Yet the uploader has the pretentiousness to call it a 'film'. What do you think? Am I way off base? Is this the 'cinematic' look you're after?
  2. It was reported on the 43rumors site the other day.
  3. When people are wearing clothes... ?
  4. Never edited directly from the original, not even when recording to the 1TB SSD on my Inferno. I make two backups and edit from one of them. And I use Backups for Final Cut Pro as added insurance.

After telling Huong and Thuan they couldn’t work for me anymore because of the thought police.
  6. Would’ve been nice if they’d gone with Panasonic batteries too. (not complaining, Damphousse!)
  7. hehe Used to HDMI? I’d gladly welcome SDI on all my cameras and monitors. Oh wait - both my monitors already have SDI... hmmm
  8. That’s why I recommend checking out Daniel’s work and possibly PMing him for advice.
  9. @daniel+ sells his work to stock agencies. Excellent work, well worth checking out. http://www.schweinert.com/portfolio/filmmaking/filmmaking.html
  10. VR or HDR footage might be the next big thing.
  11. Actually, when the Batcam comes out, there will be no quantum leap in either image quality or content. As always, 99% will be shiite like with every other camera ever released, with 1% who have an eye, a story to tell and who know how to grade.
  12. Maybe you should read up on HDR before making such uninformed statements. Any camera that shoots log or RAW is already shooting HDR. There is no 15-stop requirement. Also, tldr, but when you make statements about forum members demanding better image quality than Scorsese (for our personal work, no less!), perhaps it would be best to speak for yourself.
  13. I’m with @mercer all the way. I’ve been researching the requirements for stock footage and if I were you, I would shoot with your current camera.
  14. I’m finding color correction and grading to be a joy with the new tools in Final Cut.
  15. The button placement indicates that his company is forward thinking.
  16. He's clearly indicating that just because it's got a record button in the front, you're free to walk around and vlog all day long. He is not talking about setting the camera up on a tripod with a cage and monitor and talking to the camera from the comfort of your living room. So yes, without a forward facing screen, IBIS, or AF-C, this scenario is utterly ridiculous. As far as the cinematic look goes, this method is unlikely to yield results that will be showing at your local theater any time soon. Unless you give the patrons barf bags for when they get ill from all the camera shake, the wide angle view of your nose and the blurry image.
  17. You've got to admit that this image is pretty absurd.
  18. I'd stay away from the Inferno unless your camera's going to be on a tripod all the time. The Ninja V would be a better option.
  19. Is there any way to verify that the T5 is actually recording during a take and is there any way to play back the footage on the drive to be sure you’ve got what you need?
  20. USB-C should be able to last some 7,000-8,000 insertions according to a non-scientific test done by tech-quickie.
  21. It's going to need a clamp of some kind.
  22. I came across the YouTube channel of Canadian vlogger and model Piper Blush last night and was pretty astounded by the rendition of brilliant primary colors and accurate skin tones in her videos, as well as by how clean they look (not referring to the content here- hehe). Her work, best viewed with the volume turned off, gives ample opportunity to check out skin tones; and strictly out of a sense of scientific duty, I pored over a number of her uploads, only to find that they are all consistently well-exposed ?. I wrote to ask what she shoots with, and it turns out to be an a6500. Anyhow, some of the loveliest colors I’ve seen yet by any YouTuber. NSFW https://youtu.be/bzEGjvZSw6A
  23. @jindrich He says it’s not his video.
