  1. I think he already knows. ?
  2. This guy can do it without IBIS, but he’s been at it a while now. https://youtu.be/l_r4k8TbGIQ

Maybe I could use those to soften up the 100% phony expressions. ?
  4. TLDR; are there physical dials for aperture and shutter speed/angle?

I had a chance to watch the two videos I shared this morning back on my computer at home and must say this is some of the nicest footage I've seen yet from the GH5. The Nocticron is excellent as well.

Leica Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2. Nice footage, grade. And there’s this one:
  7. I love good tripods myself. But some handheld or rig stuff with a little movement can really breathe some life into the shots.
  8. Could be. Happens occasionally. But nowhere near as bad as shaky handheld.
  9. Actually, IBIS is excellent for use with cinema lenses like the Veydras; and IBIS helps even when flying on a gimbal.
  10. I don’t own any OIS lenses. Oh, wait! I have one! ?
  11. Would someone be so kind as to show me some cinematic looking footage that has not been graded? No need to post it here, just PM a link. Because I’ve never seen such an animal. All theatrical releases have been graded. Also, some here are saying things like, ‘I’m sure the Pocket will have custom white balance.’ I hope it does too - but how can anyone make statements like that? Are they clairvoyant? And in answer to short battery life and lack of IBIS - which TBH I don’t really care anyway - someone says just slap on a cheap rig and V-mount battery: well, that seems painfully obvious; but it’s not the same as having IBIS and 3-hour battery life.

    Motion Cadence

Just for the record, I’m not disputing that IBIS can produce undesirable effects. I experienced that today while out on a shoot. But shaky camera movement is much worse!

    Motion Cadence

    1) We're assuming the video is shot at 24fps and delivered in 24fps, not speeded up to 30fps. 2) Can you show proof that some cameras are shooting 'false progressive'? 3) Right, televisions and computer monitors can affect motion. 4) I've watched lots of movies most of which I assume were not shot in RAW and never noticed unusual motion artifacts or weird cadence. 5) Can you provide evidence that lenses with electrical contacts with IS and 'all that jazz' affect motion cadence? 6) Does Universal Records require you to shoot in RAW with cinema lenses with no electrical contacts? If what you are asserting were common knowledge, as fussy as they are, why wouldn’t they make that a requirement? Your post isn't pointless, but it's full of conjecture.
  15. The GH5 is the true Pocket camera. Without any rigging at all, I can shoot handheld without a gimbal, tap to focus, battery lasts for hours, I can custom white balance, record simultaneously to two SD cards, delete and format cards in camera, and import footage and export with virtually no grading. Sure, it might not be a cinema camera, but it is one heck of a video camera.
  16. I'm curious why you never post your own work.

    Motion Cadence

It seems to me that @sam is confusing rolling shutter with whatever motion cadence is supposed to be.
  18. That’s really all that bugs me about my current camera - the aggressive sharpening. Hopefully the Pocket will take care of that. I’m also hoping that without IBIS, an EVF, anamorphic de-squeeze, ETC mode, focus transition and articulating LCD, I can at last concentrate on shooting. ?
  19. FWIW - I never said there was ONE AND ONLY ONE way. hehe
  20. Roger Deakins shoots with Arri Master Primes because they are the cleanest, fastest, sharpest lenses out there. (his own words). I don’t think clean and sharp are synonymous with sterile. ?
  21. @DBounce But I thought the camera was basically finished already. Anyhow, I'm not sure why anyone would start worrying about them not delivering what they promise. It's still months away. Drawing conclusions from whatever unofficial footage there is online seems highly unusual to me, to say the least. May be best to ask Grant personally why the footage looks jerky to you. I'm certain he'd be more than happy to respond.
