  1. Let me be perfectly clear - I have no interest in how large a company is or sales figures. The Pocket 4K looks sensational. We can hope it will spur Panasonic on to offer RAW, but... remember when everyone was saying Sony would have to offer 10-bit and 4K 60p because of the GH5? Just sayin'...
  2. Just look around you - everyone is shooting Canon, Sony, Fuji and maybe Panasonic (not here in VN). Not a single BMD camera in sight. Ever. Maybe things are different in your neck of the woods.
  3. It's a new sensor - has not been used in any previous camera. Start up time 4 sec. Panasonic less than 1 sec. Not that it matters...
  4. Just to put things in perspective, BMD's net worth is $300 million, while Panasonic's is probably in the hundreds of billions of dollars. But no argument that BMD is a force to be reckoned with.
  5. BMD is a small player, they're probably not even on Panasonic's radar. If anyone is interested in RAW HDMI out, they should keep requesting it in the forums and on YT channels that review Panasonic products.
  6. Yes, you just apply a camera LUT in FCP X and it converts from rec 2020 to rec 709. In the clip I posted, pretty much all I did was reduce the saturation of the green of the lettuce and add a slight vignette. HDR grading is a whole 'nother beast altogether.
  7. Just for the record, the GH5 does not shoot garbage plastic looking footage. And while the Pocket 4K is probably awesome, it does not suddenly make shooting Panasonic Log obsolete.
  8. The first sample footage by John Brawley of the original Pocket came out some five or six months before reviews started appearing online. A bit like home movies (his own words), but first sample footage nonetheless. ? He posted the clips on his blog the end of April 2013 and reviews began to appear on YouTube around September of the same year.
  9. They put an extra shutter button on the front of the camera for vloggers. Hopefully, it can double as an extra function button. At least it has full HDMI, zebras, a longer life battery and headphone jack, which hopefully will be standard on all mirrorless from here on out.
  10. Atomos makes fine products too, but in their promotional materials, they make it look like the Shogun Inferno is the perfect run ‘n gun solution, which it’s not. Too funny.
  11. The big boys all have stuff dangling. ???
  12. Panasonic doesn’t need to license Prores RAW. They only need to enable RAW out. Atomos will do the rest. ?
  13. I’m with you on that. We should put pressure on Panny to follow suit, and encourage reviewers and luminaries who have Panasonic’s ear to do the same. In the cinema5D interview, Grant Petty was making it out to be perfect for selfies. Not sure what’s up with that.
  14. The thing is, if Oliver graded the music videos I’ve seen of his himself, he has a high skill level that many of us don’t have. I could play the devil’s advocate and say that’s the reason pros entrust colorists with their footage. Just like directors hire you because you are an audio specialist.
  15. If I may be allowed to say so, shooting RAW does require more grading skills than I currently possess.
  16. I don’t see anyone complaining here. 100% total agreement. Which, quite frankly, is a little disconcerting. ?
  17. Get the Veydras for sure. They’re compatible with m4/3, E mount and Fuji X mount. And only $800 apiece! The Oly 45mm f/1.2 PRO and Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN are also superb.
  18. Don, I really dislike brand wars - but I’d choose a full frame stabilized camera with great AF-C over the Pocket 4K, or even my GH5, for many situations.
  19. It’s a pipe dream, but it would be interesting if Sony, Fuji, Panny or Olympus enabled RAW HDMI out. But I just don’t think BMD is even on their radar. However, we do know for sure that Sony and Panasonic have a great working relationship with Atomos. The only way to effect change now as I see it is to bombard the forums with requests that Fuji, Sony and Panasonic enable RAW. If it’s even possible. The good news for Panny owners is that bcs their lenses are compatible, the cost of owning a Pocket just got that much more affordable.
  20. Peace. Six long months shooting that silly thin codec of mine. ?
  21. Why do you keep insisting I take drugs? What is your problem, man?
  22. I never said anything about not liking anything, Don. I would choose this for some jobs, Panny, Sony or Fuji for others.
  23. Yes, it sounds like the Pocket is great value for money.
