  1. A sort of torture test of the IBIS. I believe Gordon Laing is simply holding the camera at arm's length with the absolutely gigantic 16-55mm f/2.8,. which is a gorgeous lens BTW. The lens has no OIS. It appears that he's just walking normally, no ninja walk, so the X-H1 does quite well considering. Obviously, not a vlogging camera, which I'm sure he's aware of. He's shooting with the new Eterna profile, which Fuji added after feedback from filmmakers. It would seem as though there's been no grading of the footage. However, because Eterna is a rather flat picture profile, I'm guessing that best results can be obtained by doing some color correction in post, not SOOC.
  2. Filippo’s video is a work of art.
  3. I actually learned a bunch from reading these pages. Such as that the mere suggestion that Fuji might have gone with a larger battery, a headphone jack and zebras will draw the ire of the entire EOSHD community. That a flippy screen is a deal breaker for everyone. That a full sized HDMI port is anathema. That a fully functioning app is utterly unnecessary and would be despised. That firmware updates have suddenly become the barometer by which we measure cameras. That there is no denying that Fuji color science is unsurpassed. That a thumbwheel might be more convenient than an aperture ring on the lens is complete BS. That $4,000 cinema lenses are an indication that Fuji is taking video seriously (even though nobody here can afford to buy them). That nobody here needs 10-bit, and anyone who does is an asshole. That nobody is interested in knowing whether the small bugs in the pre-production model have been fixed or not. That trading insults and down votes to silence forum members has become the new norm. That ergonomics is not a subject up for discussion. That in order to defend Fuji, we must launch an ugly counter offensive at Sony. That every statement of fact must be followed by ‘imo’. That everything I’ve just written is a lie and must be punished severely. That I should be banned for speaking the truth. The chief differences between the X-T2 and the X-H1 are (1) physical size (2) the addition of Eterna (3) IBIS (4) internal F-log (5) higher bit rate. I own the X-T2 and several thousands of dollars worth of lenses and have every reason to want Fuji to succeed. But the X-H1, particularly after the release of Sony’s a7 III, leads me to believe it’s a case of too little, too late. Down votes, anyone?
  4. I’m not seeing it, but can’t be bothered reading 17 pages. It is BS, so no reason to repeat it here. Oh, I also heard a rumor - supposedly Trump had a love child with Stormy Daniels... I’d put them both in the same category.
  5. @mercer link? And why on earth would you need a crash cam? Sounds like flaming to me...
  6. Who claimed there would be a 40% price reduction? I’m all in! I also hear you can find mint GX85s in Sweden for under $200. I think whoever takes part in spreading such absurd rumors is implying that Panasonic has a dog on their hands.
  7. I do think Panasonic should consider reducing sharpening even further.
  8. With any luck, 2018 will signal the end of CDAF for Panasonic.
  9. Yeah, if they released both at once, my brain would’ve imploded.
  10. If the GH5s had IBIS, internal ND filters and frequent firmware updates, I’d buy it. ?
  11. @tonysss Like709 might also be my first choice for the most pleasing skin tones. I’ll have to try shooting with it more.
  12. I prefer Panasonic’s colors straight out of camera. Besides which, unless you’re news gathering, shooting sports (for which I wouldn’t be shooting the X-H1 in the first place) or posting on IG, this SOOC argument is rather moot. It only takes a few seconds to get the footage in the ball park with either camera. Good color is more a matter of the camera operator’s talent combined with proper white balance, location and set design, clothing, a stylist, good lighting, the appropriate lenses and expert color grading, I rather like 60mm for this sort of thing when shooting m4/3. Looking good!
  13. Thanks again, @KitaCam . No reviewer of the production model has tested for these so far. I’m sure this will be of great interest to prospective purchasers of the X-H1.
  14. Name calling and personal attacks are the tactics of last resort employed by pathetic little fanboys with no moral character or reasoning ability.
  15. whataboutism - just another ploy by fanboys. Constantly shifting the goal posts is another. “Look over there!” “No, the target’s moved again -see?” What does shit CDAF have to do with anything? Concerning Fuji’s famous color science, the reason Eterna was added in the first place was because filmmakers did not appreciate the film emulations in the X-T2.
  16. When my LG OLED gets burn-in, I’ll rush out to buy another. ?
  17. @Robert Collins I will agree in so far as getting a fully-featured full frame mirrorless camera for $2,000 seemed unthinkable just a few months ago. Reasonably priced, full featured crop sensor cameras that shoot 4K have been with us for a while now. As far as sheer functionality goes, reliability and usability should be taken for granted. And exactly how have Fuji been pushing the boundaries for features? I think they’ve missed lots of opportunities here myself. Zebras, anyone? A functioning remote app? A headphone jack? A larger battery? Sorry, I’m not buying it.
  18. I’m also wondering whether anyone who’s purchased the X-H1 would be so kind as to determine if the much vaunted top E ink display still fails to distinguish between UHD and DCI 4K. Oh wait, you didn’t even notice? Guess that ornament wasn’t that necessary after all...
  19. The whole firmware update nonsense is just a diversionary tactic by the hardcore Fuji fanboys. “Look there! No, look here!” Nobody with any common sense left in their brain purchases a camera for firmware updates. It’s certainly not in my top ten priorities, nor should it be in anyone else’s. “Should I buy camera A or camera B?” “Oh dear, camera B might turn into a toaster oven in time for Christmas - I think I’ll take it!” Firmware updates never added the one modest feature I needed most on my X-T2 - zebras. If you’ve got an ounce of wits about you, you purchase a camera that has the features you need now and that performs without malfunctioning. I don’t have the luxury of being able to wait six months to a year to get problems fixed that shouldn’t have been there to begin with; and I’m certainly not going to buy a camera with a dozen bugs which not even the fanboys who purchased the X-H1 are willing to take a minute of their precious time to confirm whether they’ve been fixed or not.
  20. Fanboys can’t tolerate any criticism. Case in point: two X-H1 owners generously offered to do tests - but when simply asked to check for distorted audio; to see whether the touch screen sometimes unintentionally activates recording rather than focusing; or whether the feature that causes an external monitor/recorder to black out when waving a hand in front of the EVF has been resolved - facts that have already been documented and that should be of interest to any filmmaker - they reply that only amateurs use the camera’s built-in pre-amp, or that the camera freezing is part of the DSLR experience.
  21. That’s awfully nice of you to volunteer. When you have a chance, would you be so kind as to check whether these bugs still persist? Thanks a bunch! Touch screen mode is set to AF. Camera is in manual focus mode. When tapping twice on the LCD screen (Or turning the lens focus ring), the picture will be zoomed in for easier focusing judgment (which is fine) BUT, when tapping on the LCD on a point to focus, the camera will start recording instead of focusing In manual focus mode. When in stand-by mode, turning the lens focus ring. The picture will “jump in” for easier focusing judgment BUT it will NOT “jump out” for the actual framing when pressing the record button. The same applies when already recording. Touch the focus ring, picture will zoom-in, but will stay like this and won’t go back to the original framing after a second or two “Natural Live View” is nice when using it in combination with F-Log as it will allow you to see and monitor how the picture will look like with a certain LUT on it. Unfortunately, this feature is also active in other film simulation modes, making it easy to mistake the look you are after Dynamic range is stated in percentages (400%, 200%). For us filmmakers who talk in “stops”, this piece of information is a bit useless. I understood from FUJIFILM that different shooting modes result in different dynamic range values, so how about pre-setting the camera to give the best possible dynamic range at any setting without the possibility to choose to lower it in the menu? Audio monitoring is somehow distorted with the headphones I used At times, when external microphone is used, when adjusting the audio menu to “Off”, audio can still be heard At times, when external microphone is used, when adjusting the audio levels, sound can be cut off, become muted and camera will freeze The overall picture size and menu layout structure in the EVF will change when switching between the manual focus mode and one of the other autofocus modes. Very distracting When waving a hand in front of the EVF, the external monitor/recorder blacks out
