  1. @FoxAdriano Cinelike D has the greatest dynamic range.

Yeah, it looks pretty straightforward. If I run into any problems, I can just have them do it at a shop here.

Look what we have here! ?
  4. I wish I could make my iMac look like a fireplace. ?
  5. Couldn’t agree more.
  6. Though two batteries would still be more than sufficient for a day’s shooting with the a7 III, Fuji’s method makes more sense - unless it’s necessary to avoid overheating, which is my guess.
  7. My best friend here, who just returned from a trip to India and Nepal, let me try out his a7r III. With the battery grip and a 16-35 GM, it felt much better in my hands. I also appreciate that you can see tons of settings info on the LCD and it’s all legible to my aging eyeballs. The EVF is another matter - in order to see the entire image, my peepers had to scan around the viewfinder, so a little unpleasant there. Still found the exposure comp dial and the thumb wheel too small and too recessed. Is it true that when using the battery grip, the camera doesn’t use the in-camera battery?
  8. Aha. travesties are committed on both ends of the image chain. ? @sam Does your Samsung have a max brightness of 500 nits and edge lighting? Is it HDR Certified? Could you tell us more?
  9. This is a little old already, but you can read about some other users’ experiences with various recorders here.
  10. The same could be said for at least enabling 10-bit with an external recorder, no?
  11. I’ve got no need for unlimited record time either, but I could see how it could be useful when shooting interviews. And I think shallow depth of field is beautiful in those situations. Same for a musical recital. A medical procedure. Nature filmmakers. Photographers who shoot tutorials and behind the scenes footage of themselves at work. And on and on... Just because I don’t need it doesn’t mean there aren’t others who do. Basically, what you’re saying is, if someone needs to shoot for longer than an hour or whatever, get a camcorder - which is complete and utter foolishness.
  12. I’ll have to look into all this ACES stuff myself. I’ve been thinking of switching over to Resolve anyhow, since FCP doesn’t have the proper Luma Waveform for working in HDR HLG. I don’t see myself giving up LUTs anytime soon though - I’d never come close to getting the results I’m seeing with HLG rec.709 without Paul Leeming’s LUT. But key to all this color management stuff and and even the 10-bit discussion is working with a good calibrated reference monitor, no? While color correcting a 30-second test clip of my model on my MacBook Pro the other day (my iMac is still at the shop), the grey wall behind her looked cyan, and no matter how far down I dragged the highlight slider (in FCP), the highlights in her face looked indistinct. I was basically fumbling around in the dark. This was with rec.709 conversion, too. But it looked fine when viewed on an OLED. I’d like to pick up a good reference monitor like @Matthew Hartman‘s, but I don’t want to drop thousands, only to see a reasonably priced HDR monitor appear 1-1/2 years down the road.
  13. You are seriously disrespectful. ‘Fat man in a hat’ has got a ton more nice shots than you’ll ever get in a lifetime I’ll bet. I’ll also bet he’s more fun at a party than you.
  14. No, the GH5, the GH5s, the Sony a7r III, the a7 III and others shoot HLG as well. Vesku was just pointing out that there’s a way to shoot 8-bit HLG on the Panasonic.
  15. I’ve lived in Vietnam for over 5 years (which incidentally is part of Asia), and men don’t carry ‘manbags’. Also, you can go on all you like about camera size, but you fail to address my main point, which is that the dials, buttons and handgrip could be chunkier. And since we’re talking anecdotal evidence, on the streets of Saigon, I see many men and women with large lenses. So what? But since you think it’s just alpha males that gravitate toward larger cameras, an assertion without any basis in fact, there’s no point in discussing this with you any longer. It appears that you feel threatened by, or are overtly hostile toward working photographers, otherwise why would you keep using quotation marks around the word ‘pro’. Evidently, it’s a personal issue of yours.
  16. It looks like he was intentionally trying to make the Fuji look horrendous.
  17. Panasonic does not even offer 8-bit HLG.
  18. I’d love to listen to you talk about the collapse of the camera industry due to pros talking about ergonomics, but I’m afraid my calendar is full until 2019.
  19. Happy for you. Many cameras bring much joy. Ergonomics on topic. Economics dissertation new topic.
  20. Great. The subject for a new topic. And we should all consider ourselves lucky.
