AF lenses aren’t ideal for rack focus no matter the system. I believe Fuji made their two MK cine zooms for the X-H1 and subsequent video-oriented X-mount bodies. But they’re pricey... An economical alternative are the Veydras, and best of all, they’re compatible with Sony E-mount and MFT as well.

Who here has tried this AF fix?

Shoot a snapshot of your screen so we can see. Only other thing I can suggest is to reset camera to factory default and start over. @sgreszcz you are aware that you can move the histogram wherever you want, aren’t you?
-
@sgreszcz did this happen after loading the camera settings I sent you?

i just did a test with my X-T2. With a newly charged battery, the camera was able to record two ten-minute clips and one four-minute clip in succession before stopping recording to avoid overheating. The battery still has tons of juice remaining - in fact only one of the five bars has disappeared, as far as I can tell. I say as far as I can tell because all of the information in the display is too small to be read by human eyes. I sincerely hope the X-H1 has larger icons.

Could you summarize, Emmanuel? I'm tired of watching videos for the day. I'm also tired of listening to idiocies from newbies who couldn't even say what a cinema camera is or is not.

@Yurolov I can't speak about Slog, since I've never shot with a Sony camera. But to say that Fuji, Sony and Panasonic are not designed with filmmakers in mind, or that 8-bit is no different from 10-bit - you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. But yeah, face detect AF makes all the other video-centric features on these other cameras completely redundant. Since when have you seen face detect AF in a theatrical release? Your comments don't hold up, just leave it alone, okay?

A look at the audio features of the GH5s.

audio feature set is another area where the Fuji falls behind.

Some manufacturers may be reluctant to enable 10-bit in their consumer cams because they’ve got their higher-end products to protect. Higher bit depth slso entails higher bit rates, greater processing power, better heat management, faster storage with greater capacity, as well as more power. Sony and Fuji are already strugglng with heat dissipation and battery life, so 10-bit is probably not even possible internally. But who knows - @Inazuma may be right - the new body may less appealing than the X-Pro2 - but the larger size and 25% thicker magnesium alloy shell should have helped solve the heat issues. Also, while colorists have always preferred to work with greater bit depths, I’m guessing HDR is even more demanding than SDR in that respect. One last unabashed plug for HDR - while some say they’re waiting for consumers to take to the format, the situation is actually the reverse - it’s content creators who are trailing behind consumer demand!

Good luck with the DeckLink. Let us know how it goes.

I wonder if you can load LUTs and save all camera settings to an SD card; whether the user has full control over in-camera sharpening, noise reduction and contrast, and if it's got an extra teleconverter function.

Interesting that some are still making the argument that this camera is ideal if you're shooting 50/50 stills/video (or some percentage thereof), when this was supposed to be a straight-up video shooter's dream. I'm not saying they're wrong, but feature and spec-wise, on paper at least, this does fall behind a couple of other manufacturers in the video department. It addresses many of the faults of the X-T2, but time has moved on and Fuji still seems to be playing catch up. The crop factor isn't a deal breaker for me, but again, no extra crop in 4K would have been desirable. The body's chunkier than the X-T2, it certainly wouldn't have hurt to pair it with some longer-life batteries. Any accessory is going to compound the chances of failure, and the battery grip is no exception. It also makes fitting the camera with a cage or flying on a gimbal a bit problematic! A true video-centric camera should have both headphone and mic inputs for sure. Since I use the LCD exclusively for video, it would've been nice to have a bigger pixel count. It's to be hoped they include a waveform monitor and zebras this time around, too. I'm also in the 10-bit camp, regardless of what Sony and Canon are doing, especially since my interest in HDR. I'm heavily invested in Fuji lenses, so I have a vested interest in Fuji's success. Will it have a touch screen? Will Fuji ever fix the issue with the remote app only recording 720p? The lack of IBIS, zebras, a fully articulating touch screen, a functioning remote app, short battery life and a number of other factors are why my X-T2 has sat in a dry box for almost a year, while I shot almost exclusively with the G85 and then the GH5.

Pixel Film Studios should not only have issued a public apology, but also forwarded any earnings from their ill-gotten goods to Motion vfx. Unfortunately, Pixel Film Studios' statement includes even more falsehoods: This can happen to anyone and unfortunately MotionVFX capitalized on this moment to ruin competition. Mission accomplished? The goal of MotionVFX was not to ruin competition, but to prevent the illegal re-branding and sale of their property. Pixel Film Studios also has this to say about the employee who supposedly used Motion VFX's effect: This employee is great person who just made a bad decision. Not sure what they mean by great - finding shortcuts to doing a job properly? stealing? confessing just hours after the crime? :=) How long has this 'young employee' been working for Pixel Film Studios? Have they gone back and examined his other work to ascertain that it wasn't stolen too? Have they established any company guidelines to prevent this from happening again? Sorry, it all sounds like bs to me. The statement also neglects to mention how the employee used the company's email address and paid for the MotionVFX plug-in. Would the employee be so brazen as to use the name of the owner, Christina Austin, to make a purchase? Did this 'great person' also use a stolen credit card to pay for the purchase? Super not cool.

I think there was a problem with a break in recording when one battery died or no? I seem to recall something like this happening with my battery grip...

This is the thing - I can say I don’t like the colors of this or that, but I would never say that camera’s no good if I’ve never shot with one.

X-H1 is on my radar. ?
-
Yes, fine for that. Just don’t plan on using it as a grading monitor. It won’t work with your MacBook Pro.
-
Just asking because you probably won’t be able to use an Atomos as a grading monitor in spite of what mystery box writes.

What computer do you edit on?
